9: First murder

“Bandit, do you have no law? ”

AYu pointed at Qin Shilei and scolded, “This convenience store was clearly given to us by my father, yet you’re shamelessly refusing to leave.”

“That’s right, the name on this business license is my father-in-law’s,” Xu Tiancheng echoed.

Qin Shilei said indifferently, “My classmate lives upstairs. She knows the owner, and he’s not your father.”

“This…”

AYu made up a story, “He’s our godfather, with no children, so what if he gave it to us?”

“Pfft!”

Qin Shilei was amused by her words. “What a godfather. Actually, I was just talking nonsense earlier.”

“Scram!”

Xu Tiancheng, enraged, yelled, “You’re not welcome here. Get out!”

“My husband went to a martial arts school, and he absorbed two crystals. If you don’t want to die, you’d better leave,” AYu threatened from the side.

After all that talk, it was still because Qin Shilei held a long sword, and just now, he had cut off a zombie’s head with a single strike.

That made them afraid to directly use force to drive him away.

Qin Shilei crossed his arms and said coldly, “I’m taking this place!”

Since they could occupy this convenience store, why couldn’t he snatch it?

“Then go ask for it in hell.”

Xu Tiancheng raised his bone-chopping knife and charged over aggressively.

If it had been a day ago, with someone holding a knife charging at him, Qin Shilei would have turned and run.

But now, he could calmly face the other party’s fierce appearance.

In Qin Shilei’s eyes, with his Sword Mastery, the opponent was full of flaws from head to toe.

With a dip of his shoulder, the Seven Star Sword smoothly unsheathed, precisely stabbing Xu Tiancheng’s right wrist.

With a clang, the bone-chopping knife fell to the ground.

He kicked him.

Xu Tiancheng doubled over like a shrimp and fell backward, stopping only after knocking over the shelves behind him.

“Tiancheng, are you alright?”

AYu quickly went over to help her husband up, then turned her head and cursed angrily, “You bandit, you villain, you’ll definitely go to hell!”

“Now, get out immediately!”

Qin Shilei took a step forward, pointing the Seven Star Sword at them.

“You…”

AYu wanted to continue cursing, but as soon as her eyes met Qin Shilei’s cold gaze, she abruptly stopped speaking.

“Let’s go.”

Xu Tiancheng looked up, then gritted his teeth and said to his wife.

After getting up, they walked to a corner, each picked up a large backpack, and headed out of the store.

Unlocking, pushing the door.

Xu Tiancheng let his wife go first.

He turned back, seeing that Qin Shilei was still four or five meters away.

Suddenly, a malicious plan formed in his mind.

He bent down, pretending to put the lock on the ground, but his left foot stepped out of the door.

As he straightened up, his left hand instantly grabbed the left glass door handle, preparing to close the door and lock it from the outside.

But out of the corner of his eye, he saw a cold glint appear in front of him in an instant.

“Ah!”

Half of his forearm was severed by a sword, but the glass door also swung forward and closed.

Despite the intense pain, Xu Tiancheng gritted his teeth, still trying to thread the lock onto the right glass door handle.

Qin Shilei pulled his right hand back, and the sword’s spine smoothly scraped along the edge of the left glass door.

The nearly closed glass door opened inwards again.

Seeing that it was impossible, Xu Tiancheng threw the lock towards Qin Shilei and turned to run into the distance.

He hadn’t taken two steps when a sword tip emerged from his chest. All his strength vanished, and he fell weakly to the ground.

“Don’t kill me, I’ll run far, far away immediately.”

AYu, who had been stunned by this scene, suddenly came to her senses, flailing her hands in front of her chest, begging for mercy.

Her answer was a lightning-fast flash of sword light.

Since he had crossed the threshold of killing, Qin Shilei felt it was better not to leave behind someone who harbored such deep hatred for him.

After killing many zombies, killing people didn’t seem so hard to accept anymore.

Qin Shilei bent down and opened the two backpacks on the ground. They were indeed filled with food and other items.

This Xu Tiancheng was quite thoughtful.

Guarding a convenience store, he had even prepared two backpacks of necessities. If an emergency occurred, he could grab the bags and run at any time.

He took the backpacks back into the convenience store, then took out the crystals from the three zombies in the store, and threw the bodies outside.

It was getting dark, and he planned to spend the night in the convenience store.

He checked the doors and windows again, making sure they were secure, then turned and entered the convenience store’s small kitchen.

It was just a small kitchen, less than two square meters.

The rice cooker already had cooked rice, and the corn and pork rib soup was still piping hot.

On the counter, there was also a plate of washed bok choy and a plate of sliced cured meat.

Qin Shilei thought for a moment and then lit the stove to stir-fry the bok choy and cured meat.

Sitting on a small stool, taking a bite of cured meat, a bite of rice, and occasionally sipping half a bowl of pork rib soup, Qin Shilei almost forgot that he had transmigrated to the apocalypse.

He opened the chat channel:

“So hungry, can anyone give me a piece of bread?”

“The Jade Girl school beauty, proficient in eighteen martial arts, seeks to be taken care of. Just need something to eat.”

“The one upstairs probably misunderstands the term ‘Jade Girl’.”

“Being a homebody is a good quality. I just bought a box of instant noodles. If someone sends a nude photo, my heart might flutter and I might give her a bowl.”

“Are male photos okay? I’ll send one right now.”

“Scram!”

On the chat channel, over ninety percent of the messages were either begging for food or showing off food.

Thinking that he could still eat home-cooked dishes for dinner, Qin Shilei was instantly filled with happiness.

“I almost forgot about the trading system.”

Qin Shilei put down his bowl and chopsticks, walked to a shelf, and put the food and drinks from it into the trading system.

After returning to the table, he casually posted a few advertisements on the chat channel.

“Huimin Convenience Store special offer: Choose any two items—water, bread, ham sausage, or instant noodles—in exchange for one crystal.”

As soon as the advertisement was posted, a bunch of people replied.

“Big shot, I’m streamer Xing’er. Can you give me some food? Let’s chat privately.”

“Big shot, I finally got one crystal. Can I exchange it for more items?”

“OP, don’t disrupt the market. Everyone else is selling one packet of instant noodles for one crystal.”

“Scam artist, scram!”

Qin Shilei ate his meal while browsing the chat channel, but he didn’t send another message.

A few minutes later.

A small red dot appeared on the trade channel button.

He opened it and saw that one of the five shelves was empty, and he had gained one crystal.

Qin Shilei’s eyes lit up, and he quickly went to the shelf to restock.

Then, every few minutes, an item was sold.

An hour later, he had collected a total of 18 crystals.

The food sold was just a drop in the ocean for the convenience store.

This situation continued until ten at night, when the speed of item sales slowed down.

For over four hours, Qin Shilei had been excitedly stocking items in the trading system.

The gains were also astounding.

He had collected a total of 69 crystals.

Adding the three he got in the convenience store, he now had 72 crystals.

“Roar!”

Just as Qin Shilei was immersed in the joy of his gains, a huge roar suddenly sounded.

“Ho-ho.”

Outside the window, the roars of zombies rose and fell, as if responding to that earlier roar.

Could it be that the Zombie King had appeared?

Qin Shilei felt a hint of unease in his heart.
