509: Seeking one's own death

Qin Shilei smiled at the dog-headed demon, "I'll say it again: there are thousands upon thousands of Flame Demons in the Abyss World. Don't just assume every Flame Demon you see is the culprit."

He felt no panic at the prospect of his identity being exposed.

It was just a Flame Demon alias named Andrei, which he could discard at any time.

Qin Shilei had already made up his mind; once he was out of everyone's sight, he would immediately change his appearance and let the Flame Demon Andrei vanish from their eyes completely.

However, before changing his identity, he had to first capture Mandel and drag him into his Blessed Land.

Seeing Qin Shilei so calm, the guards' wariness dissipated slightly.

"Judging by all the signs, the culprit's actions don't look like they were done by a Flame Demon. Rien, you cannot take your anger out on Andrei just because your brother died at the hands of a Flame Demon."

Mandel hurriedly stepped in to smooth things over.

The dog-headed demon Rien snorted, turned his head away, and still didn't give Qin Shilei a pleasant look.

Mandel said nothing more and instead began discussing the city massacre with the others again.

But no matter how they discussed it, they couldn't find any leads.

Slowly, the few demons stopped talking and sat in their seats, closing their eyes to rest.

Qin Shilei's mind stirred, and he spoke up, "I'm going to find a room to meditate for a while. Come find me if you need anything."

The dog-headed demon stood up with a swoosh, "I'm familiar with this City Lord's Mansion. Let me take you to find a suitable room."

However, judging from the fierce light flashing in his eyes, everyone in the hall understood that Rien was likely harboring ill intentions.

"Rien, don't cause trouble!" Mandel glared at Rien.

"Boss, I'm just kindly showing this Lord Andrei the way. How could I cause trouble?"

Rien grinned, but didn't give up his plan to guide Qin Shilei.

Mandel thought for a moment, feeling that the place Qin Shilei was going wasn't far from the hall, so there shouldn't be any problems.

He had no choice but to say to Rien, "Go and come back quickly."

"Understood."

Rien walked out of the hall first, "Let's go, Lord Flame Demon."

Qin Shilei followed him out, expressionless.

After leaving the hall and turning a corner, Rien didn't find a suitable room for Qin Shilei nearby, but instead kept walking straight in a direction away from the hall.

"Are you planning to teach me a lesson, or do you want to kill me outright? I'm really looking forward to it."

Qin Shilei's lips curled slightly. He said nothing and continued following him into the remote area, feigning ignorance.

Until they were two or three hundred meters away from the hall, Rien suddenly stopped.

He turned around with a fierce look and whispered to Qin Shilei, "Annoying Flame Demon, I don't care if you're the culprit or not. Once we start fighting, even if you aren't the culprit, I can still frame you as one."

As he spoke, his aura surged, and the large axe in his hand swung fiercely towards Qin Shilei.

Qin Shilei blinked at Rien and chuckled, "Go inside and stay there for a while. I'll deal with you later."

A look of confusion appeared on Rien's face; he didn't understand what "inside" Qin Shilei was referring to.

His large axe was less than ten centimeters away from the other's head.

In just 0.01 seconds, the other's head would be split in two by him.

But at that moment, a spatial fluctuation flashed, and Rien found himself in an unknown place.

Is this an illusion?

Rien immediately became vigilant and on guard.

Bang!

Suddenly, a tremendous force came from behind, and Rien was instantly sent flying by it.

A mouthful of blood mixed with visceral matter sprayed from his mouth.

Before he could even land, a transparent energy sword struck him again.

This blow directly shattered most of his bones.

Rien couldn't even see who the enemy was before he was beaten until he was at death's door, lying on the ground, unable to get up.

At this moment, a phantom image appeared beside Rien.

This phantom was the shadow image that Qin Shilei had summoned long ago and hidden in his Blessed Land.

Rien was easily dealt with, but the aura he had just unleashed also awakened the four demons in the hall.

Mandel and the others immediately rushed over from the hall.

"Don't run!"

Qin Shilei shouted, then swung his sword towards a building in front of him.

Boom!

The building was blasted into ruins by the sword strike.

At this time, Mandel and the others had just arrived nearby.

"Be careful! A demon suddenly appeared and ambushed Rien, who was walking in front. I unleashed a sword strike, but failed to hit the opponent."

Qin Shilei pointed at the collapsed building, signaling everyone to be careful.

"Where is Rien?" Mandel asked with a frown.

"He was just blasted into the house by that demon; he should still be inside," Qin Shilei replied casually.

Mandel's figure slowly faded, and then he crept towards the house.

Soon, he walked out of the house again.

He looked at Qin Shilei with hostile eyes, "There's no one inside at all. What exactly happened just now?"

Qin Shilei frowned, "How is that possible?"

After saying this, he walked into the house and made a show of searching around.

"I clearly saw Rien blasted into this house, and I also saw the demon dodge into this house to avoid my sword energy."

Looking at Qin Shilei's sincere expression, Mandel and the others became suspicious again.

Because the scene was truly too bizarre.

If Rien's corpse had been lying there, they could have assumed that Qin Shilei had killed him.

But not only was there no corpse, there wasn't even a single drop of blood.

Mandel and the others wouldn't believe for a second that Qin Shilei could make a high-level Diamond demon like Rien vanish without a trace in such a short time.

Because the strength Qin Shilei was displaying was only around seven or eight-star Diamond, not even as high as Mandel's.

However, there was no one else at the scene besides Qin Shilei, and as for the demon he mentioned, there wasn't a trace of it.

Mandel cast suspicious eyes at Qin Shilei again, "Let's go. Lord Arons will be able to tell if you're lying."

"He's over there!"

Qin Shilei suddenly pointed behind Mandel and shouted.

The four demons, including Mandel, all turned to look in the direction Qin Shilei was pointing.

But they found nothing.

Just as they were about to use their spiritual power to check carefully, they felt a spatial fluctuation behind them, followed by a huge suction force.

After a moment of space-time shifting, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place.

On the ground not far away, Rien was lying there, nearly out of breath.

Before they could figure out what was happening, they soon ended up in the same state as Rien.

Two consecutive spatial fluctuations finally caught the attention of the peak Diamond Dark Demon hiding in the hall.

He did not go to check what had happened; instead, he took out a disk and quickly cast a spell into it.

A magic circle quickly formed on the ground, and immediately after, Arons' figure stepped out from the formation.
