87: This is impossible

Qin Shilei thrust his Jinghong Sword at the alligator's tightly closed right eye.

"Your eyelids can block arrows, but I refuse to believe they can block my Jinghong Sword."

Perhaps it was an animalistic instinct, but the rapidly crawling alligator suddenly stopped dead in its tracks.

It swung its tail, whipping it towards Qin Shilei.

Thunderbolt Thrust!

Qin Shilei leaped lightly, avoiding the alligator's tail, and stabbed at its head from mid-air.

Countless electric lights flashed, and more than a dozen holes appeared in the alligator's head, its eyes, which had been the focus of the attack, were both burst.

Crimson blood mixed with white brain matter spurted out, and a qingtong treasure chest appeared next to the alligator.

Qin Shilei bent down to collect the treasure chest and the alligator's body.

He turned and rushed towards another villa.

Ten minutes later.

Qin Shilei and his group gathered in a villa to the west.

"Qin Shilei, those rampaging alligators should all be dead," An Qian said, taking out a towel and carefully wiping the blood from her Bi Yue Sword.

"More than ten people were eaten by the alligators because rescue efforts were not timely," Zhang Xiaoli said faintly.

"Some alligators were mutated, and some were not, so we collected a total of three treasure chests. There are also five alligators waiting for you to collect them."

Zhang Qiang also reported the results of the battle.

Qin Shilei nodded, indicating he understood, "We don't need the alligators that just ate people. We'll trade them for something else later."

Since the black goats, a portion of the mutated animals they had killed along the way became their food, and another portion became Xiaqiang's food.

Regular consumption of mutated animals would gradually strengthen their physical fitness, so Qin Shilei would collect them first whenever they encountered them.

After processing them when he had time, he would give each person some cut meat.

After Qin Shilei had collected all the alligators, the people in the villa area who had been rescued by Qin Shilei and his group came over.

They opened their mouths and thanked them, "Thank you!"

Qin Shilei said faintly, "You're welcome."

He paused, then said to An Qian and the others, "Wait for me here, I'm going to walk around the Chi Yuan River."

He was mainly coveting the treasure chests and alligator meat from the mutated alligators.

As Qin Shilei was preparing to clear out the mutated alligators in the Chi Yuan River, the military's top brass were also having a headache over the alligators in the river.

The Chi Yuan River separated He Shan District from other districts of Nanzhuang City.

It was also an important barrier for He Shan District to resist the zombie horde from Nanzhuang City.

When the military painstakingly took He Shan District, they thought that by simply guarding the few large bridges over the Chi Yuan River, they could retreat when necessary and advance when possible.

Unexpectedly, today, two to three hundred alligators suddenly rushed out of the Chi Yuan River.

They bit and injured thousands of unsuspecting civilians.

The number of casualties was not much compared to the number of people killed by zombies or even starved to death.

However, the Chi Yuan River was so long, and alligators could run. Who knew where they would come ashore or where they would attack?

Moreover, alligator skin was thick and tough, and ordinary rifles could not kill them.

After a rampage, they jumped into the river and escaped with the help of the river water.

The Chi Yuan River was too long; it was impossible to defend it.

Should the people along the river be evacuated, and how far should they be evacuated to be safe?

Shi Yutang rubbed his brow, contemplating the defense plan submitted by the staff headquarters.

He was the commander of the Liehuo Army, one of the four major legions in Nanzhuang City.

"Report, the Seventh Corps has encountered an alligator attack and requests support."

Suddenly, a signalman walked in, saluted, and reported.

The Seventh Corps was a reserve corps, lacking heavy firepower, and was stationed near the Chi Yuan River.

Unexpectedly, they were requesting support under an alligator attack.

Shi Yutang stood up and said to his adjutant, "Let's go and see how rampant these alligators really are."

Soon, an armed helicopter rose from the command center and flew towards the Seventh Corps's station.

"Hold them off, kill them!"

"Fire the rockets!"

"Where's the support I asked for? Why hasn't it arrived yet?"

The commander of the Seventh Corps shouted frantically.

The support he requested had not yet arrived; what arrived first was the corps commander, Shi Yutang.

Shi Yutang leaned out of the helicopter and looked down.

The camp was a mess, with more than ten huge alligators attacking the camp.

A rough estimate showed that twenty to thirty alligators had died, while at least four to five hundred soldiers had been killed.

"Bomb them!"

Shi Yutang ordered the pilot to attack the alligators below.

"Boom! Boom!"

After two missiles, a series of machine gun bullets followed.

Three alligators were blown into the air by anti-Tank missiles, and after falling to the ground, they were barely alive.

"The power of missiles is getting weaker and weaker now," the adjutant said with a worried expression.

Shi Yutang looked at the alligators on the ground, which were being continuously attacked by the helicopter, and his brow furrowed even deeper.

After being hit by countless bullets, the alligator's thick skin was finally broken, and it stopped its advance, falling dead.

Shi Yutang commanded, "Hit the biggest one."

The pilot quickly adjusted the gun barrel and swept it towards the largest alligator on the ground.

That alligator was nearly ten meters long. Discovering the helicopter's powerful firepower, it turned and fled towards the river.

"Da da da!"

Countless machine gun bullets hit the alligator's back, causing flashes of sparks, but they did not harm the alligator in the slightest.

"Boom boom boom!"

The rockets from the helicopter continuously shot at the alligator, but they still couldn't do anything to it.

"This powerful!" The adjutant's face was full of surprise, "Is this the Alligator King?"

Shi Yutang was also secretly astonished, wondering if he could timely deploy missiles to eliminate this hidden danger on the spot.

Or if he could borrow the Soldier King from the army, he wondered if he could kill this invulnerable alligator.

While he was deep in thought, the surviving alligators, led by the Alligator King, had already escaped into the Chi Yuan River.

"Stop, don't waste ammunition," Shi Yutang ordered the pilot.

Upon hearing this, the pilot stopped attacking and prepared to control the helicopter to land in the camp.

"General Shi, look," the adjutant suddenly said, pointing to the Chi Yuan River.

Shi Yutang leaned out again and looked down.

He saw that in the middle of the emerald green Chi Yuan River, an area suddenly turned red, and then an alligator carcass floated to the surface.

"Internal strife?"

"Or is there a more powerful mutated animal in the river?"

Shi Yutang stared intently at the Chi Yuan River below.

Soon, another mutated alligator floated to the surface.

The adjutant said excitedly, "It's a person! A person's head appeared just now, and then he sank again."

"This is impossible?" Shi Yutang was somewhat disbelieving, "Are we humans that strong? Can we fight mutated alligators hand-to-hand in the water?"

The area of the river stained red grew larger and larger.

The two alligator carcasses floating on the surface of the river also disappeared without a trace.

"That person is surfacing again," the adjutant said, pointing to the west side of the Chi Yuan River.

Shi Yutang looked in the direction the adjutant was pointing and indeed saw a young man standing in the river holding a sword.

Through the river water, one could vaguely see that he was wearing a golden armor.

Just then, the huge Alligator King also surfaced from the water.

The two sides were about four to five meters apart, staring at each other intensely.
