63: Roasted Lamb

At this moment, Wu Ze and his group had just climbed over the backyard wall, preparing to jump out.

"Brother Wu, a qingtong treasure chest!" Xu Guolang reached out and pulled Wu Ze, who was in front.

"Idiot, is a treasure chest more important than your life? Let go quickly!" Wu Ze slapped Xu Guolang's wrist hard.

"Brother Wu, they've already killed all the black goats, and a qingtong treasure chest dropped," Xu Guolang said innocently.

"Uh."

Wu Ze was stunned, turning his head in disbelief to look in that direction.

In less than ten seconds, those people had killed the powerful black goats that had almost cost them their lives?

"Masters!"

Wu Ze's eyes lit up, and he jumped back into the yard from the wall.

With a smile on his face, he walked up to Zhang Qiang and sincerely said, "Thank you for saving us."

Zhang Qiang responded expressionlessly, "You're welcome."

Wu Ze didn't mind Zhang Qiang's aloofness in the slightest, continuing humbly, "Benefactors, do you need our help dealing with the black goats?"

Zhang Qiang looked up at Qin Shilei, signaling him to make the decision.

Qin Shilei calmly said, "No need, you can't handle that goat."

Wu Ze was momentarily stunned, then stiffened his neck and said, "Benefactors, you're looking down on us too much, aren't you? We can't kill a living goat, but surely we can clean up a dead one?"

Qin Shilei pointed at the leading goat on the ground and said, "Try to chop it once. If you can cut into it, I'll let you help us process these goats, and afterwards, we'll give you a regular black goat as compensation."

Wu Ze drew his machete and stepped forward, chopping down with force.

Aside from a few strands of goat hair falling off, there wasn't even a single knife mark on the black goat's neck.

Not believing it, Wu Ze gripped the knife with both hands, raised it high, and chopped down again with force.

This time, a shallow knife mark appeared on the black goat's neck, but he still couldn't see any flesh and blood.

"This..."

Wu Ze's face turned completely red, and he said shamefully, "Benefactors, I'm really sorry, we can't be of much help."

After saying that, he felt too embarrassed to stay there and returned to his group of brothers.

"We'll handle it ourselves; you all go about your business," Qin Shilei said indifferently.

After a pause, he handed his Seven Star Sword to Zhang Qiang and said, "Brother Qiang, please deal with this mutated goat first. I'll check the situation in the manor."

Watching Qin Shilei walk towards the manor buildings, Xu Guolang whispered, "Brother Wu, that person seems to be searching for supplies. If we don't act soon, we might not get anything."

Wu Ze said with lingering fear, "Let him scout ahead first, to avoid another mutated beast like that goat just now."

He knew that these farms had various wild animals hidden before the apocalypse, and there was no guarantee those things wouldn't mutate.

Qin Shilei walked through various parts of the farm, casually putting piles of supplies into his spatial ring.

He also found several cages of various snakes in a hidden spot, killed them, and threw them into the ring, thinking he could make something like 'Dragon-Phoenix Soup' later.

After touring the entire farm and finding no dangers, he returned to the backyard to help Zhang Qiang and the others process the remaining black goats.

Boiling water to remove hair, gutting them—all seven or eight goats were prepared, and it was completely dark outside.

He put all the ordinary black goats into the ring, leaving only the leading goat for dinner that night.

Zhang Xiaoli took the opportunity to ask the question in her heart, "Brother Qin, why are you so cold to those people? Even if they couldn't handle the leading goat, they could still help clean up the ordinary ones, right?"

Qin Shilei looked at everyone and explained, "That person has the look of someone who would take an inch and ask for a mile. I'm afraid if we had agreed, they might have started asking for this and that. It's like a low-level character meeting a high-level character in a game, immediately asking, 'Brother, can you give me some stuff?'"

Everyone suddenly understood and felt that Qin Shilei's handling was quite good, avoiding potential trouble.

An Qian pointed at the house with flickering lights to the west and said, "They're still not leaving. Is that okay?"

"This isn't our place anyway; they can stay if they want," Qin Shilei replied indifferently.

They lit a bonfire and skewered the skinned black goat on a rack to roast.

Zhang Qiang took out the qingtong treasure chest dropped by the black goat and asked, "Brother Qin, how should this treasure chest be distributed?"

Qin Shilei replied, "You open it first and see what's inside. The leading goat was mainly killed by you and Zhang Xiaoli, so you should distribute the main items."

Zhang Qiang handed the treasure chest to Zhang Xiaoli, signaling her to open it.

"Then I'll open it, okay?" Zhang Xiaoli touched it and opened the treasure chest.

Battle Skill Hundred Steps Piercing Willow (Green): Unleashes a powerful, guaranteed hit. Its power increases with added vitality. Cooldown: ten seconds.

Spirit Potion (Green): Increases spiritual power upon consumption.

"Is this the normal drop rate in the game?"

Qin Shilei's understanding of his own bad luck deepened a bit more.

Zhang Xiaoli merely used vines to bind the black goat, then took the Spirit Potion and a blue crystal.

After drinking the Spirit Potion, her spirit greatly increased, allowing her to simultaneously send out two vines and control them more skillfully.

Zhang Qiang took the Battle Skill Hundred Steps Piercing Willow and the black goat's hide.

He immediately gave the battle skill to Xie Haimei and put the black goat's hide into his ring, planning to find someone to sew it into armor later.

Zhang Xiaoli joyfully accepted the battle skill and immediately used it.

Although she currently had no vitality, she could still unleash this battle skill, increasing its power by about 30 percent.

As various seasonings were sprinkled on the lamb ribs, a rich aroma spread throughout the entire farm.

"I never thought this black goat meat would be so tender and delicious."

Zhang Qiang ate with oil dripping from his mouth.

"The black goat's hide is extremely tough, but its meat isn't hard at all," Xie Haimei added.

While Qin Shilei and his group were feasting, Wu Ze and his group were also swallowing their dinner.

Two hard roasted buns and a bottle of mineral water.

"Brother Wu, one of those black goats was injured by us. They didn't even spare us half a pound of meat; it's too much!"

Xu Guolang bit hard into a bun, complaining.

"I originally wanted to use the excuse of helping to get them to share some lamb with us, but I didn't expect them to be so heartless, not even willing to share a drop of soup."

Wu Ze also looked indignant.

Before today, he thought being able to eat bread was a very happy thing.

But now, smelling the rich aroma of meat in the air, Wu Ze found the bread in his mouth so difficult to swallow.

It was the apocalypse, and his group was still risking their lives to run around just to eat their fill.

Yet Qin Shilei and his group could gather around a bonfire, drinking beer and eating roasted lamb ribs.

Listening to the laughter coming from outside, Wu Ze felt how unfair this world was.

He had originally intended to try and cling to their coattails, but he was driven away in an almost humiliating manner.

Xu Guolang licked his lips and suddenly said, "Those few women are really beautiful."

Wu Ze glared at his brother, warning, "Stop looking like a pig! Those peerless beauties are not for you or me to touch."

In his heart, however, he was thinking, "No, it's not easy to meet such masters. I must somehow gain some advantage from them."
