137: Man-eating ants

Stepping into the building, Qin Shilei realized that it should be an office building and employee dormitory.

Since he was already inside, Qin Shilei didn't mind searching around.

Just then, more than ten people ran down the stairs from the front.

The newcomers were all carrying weapons like knives and swords, led by a man in his thirties with a knife scar on his cheek.

The Scarred Man said in a deep voice, "Brother, you've entered without an invitation, which seems a bit impolite."

Although Qin Shilei's armor was a bit flashy, it was still armor, stronger than their group, which was why he didn't start fighting immediately upon meeting them.

Qin Shilei smiled and said, "Is this your place?"

The Scarred Man sized up Qin Shilei again, compared their strengths, and finally said coldly, "I've occupied this place, so it's my territory. Go back to where you came from."

"You occupied it?" Qin Shilei chuckled, "Now that I've taken a liking to it, it's mine."

The Scarred Man said fiercely, "Don't be ungrateful. Leave now, and I'll spare your life."

"It seems I'll have to beat you all into submission before you'll lead the way."

As Qin Shilei finished speaking, he transformed into a blur and rushed towards the Scarred Man and his group.

The Scarred Man's vision blurred, and he lost sight of Qin Shilei, a bad feeling rising in his heart.

Before he could react, he felt a tremendous force hit his stomach, and then his entire body flew through the air, crashing into the wall behind him.

Bang, bang, bang!

A series of continuous crashing sounds rang out.

In the blink of an eye, everyone in the entire hall except Qin Shilei was on the ground.

It took a while for the group to recover, letting out a series of miserable wails.

"Stop, whoever makes another sound, I'll make him shut up forever," Qin Shilei said coldly.

The miserable wails on the ground instantly ceased, no one daring to make another sound.

Qin Shilei slowly walked up to the Scarred Man: "Whose place is this now? Who's in charge?"

The Scarred Man hurriedly replied, "It's yours, Boss. You're in charge here."

"No," Qin Shilei said calmly, "I don't have subordinates like you. You're familiar with this place, right?"

The Scarred Man said fawningly, "Sir, after the apocalypse, I explored every inch of this place. I know it very well. What are your orders?"

Qin Shilei kicked the other party's thigh with his foot: "Get up and lead the way. I want to see the grain in the granary."

The Scarred Man struggled to stand up, but it seemed he had been kicked too hard by Qin Shilei, and he couldn't get up for a long time.

Qin Shilei frowned: "I think you should just keep lying down."

After saying that, he kicked him again, causing the Scarred Man to let out another miserable wail.

"Cough, cough."

The Scarred Man coughed twice, then bowed his head to the ground, blaming himself: "Sir, I'm useless."

He paused, then added, "This building is an office and dormitory building. There's no grain here. The other three buildings are full of grain."

Qin Shilei didn't bother to pay attention to the other party any longer, turning and walking towards the corridor.

This building was indeed an office and dormitory area; after searching several rooms, he didn't find even a single grain of food.

When he returned to the hall he was in earlier, he could see through the open door that the group had just disappeared from sight.

They left, so be it. Qin Shilei continued up the stairs to the second floor.

Still no harvest.

Then he went up to the third floor and found that it was filled with dorm rooms.

He opened a door and found a corpse.

Naked, with a mess around her lower body, and multiple purple scars all over her body.

It was clear at a glance that she had been raped to death.

"Damn it!"

Qin Shilei regretted not having killed that group of men just now.

He picked up the quilt from the bed and covered the girl.

Too many people had died in the apocalypse; it was impossible to bury everyone.

Qin Shilei continued searching other rooms.

In the third room, there were five women of varying ages, with dull eyes and pale faces.

They showed no reaction to Qin Shilei's arrival.

Qin Shilei immediately knew that they must have been tortured into this state by those men.

"Those men have run away, and you are free now."

However, the women seemed not to have heard Qin Shilei's words, still showing no reaction.

Qin Shilei sighed, took out some food and left it, then turned and walked to other rooms.

Qin Shilei continued to search the rooms on the third floor, but besides a little food, he found nothing of value.

He didn't take the food; he left it there.

Just as he was about to turn and go downstairs, his peripheral vision caught sight of several bodies downstairs through the window.

He pushed open the window, and a foul stench wafted up.

Directly below the window were seven or eight naked female corpses.

Some were already rotten and stinking, while others had only died in the last two or three days.

Presumably, they had all been played to death by those men and then casually thrown out of the window.

"Don't let me run into them again."

The chill in Qin Shilei's eyes deepened a few more points.

He turned and went downstairs, walking towards another building.

.........

The Scarred Man and his group, seeing that they had already left the granary far behind, stopped, panting heavily.

"Boss, what do we do now?"

"Wait, wait for that man to die, then we'll go back."

"That person is so strong, will he really be killed?"

"As long as he dares to go to the granary, he's dead for sure."

"Boss, will we really be fine if we go back?"

"Those ants only guard inside the granary. As long as we don't step into the granary, we should be fine."

"Boss, why don't we find another place? Staying there still makes me feel uneasy."

"Let's talk about it later. Now everywhere is full of zombies and mutated beasts, there's no safe place."

While the Scarred Man and his group were discussing, Qin Shilei had already arrived at another building.

The main door of this building was ajar and not locked.

Qin Shilei gently pushed it, and with a clang, the door seemed to hit something, followed by the sound of something rolling.

As the door opened, he found a skeleton behind it.

A human skeleton with no flesh or blood whatsoever; what had just rolled was the skull of the corpse.

"That's strange. It's only been a month since the apocalypse, the corpse shouldn't have decomposed into bones yet."

Qin Shilei frowned, looking around, but found nothing unusual.

With great skill comes great courage; after a brief observation, he stepped into the granary.

Through the corridor, what met his eyes was a vast expanse of golden rice.

"Fortunately, the Space Ring upgraded to the Qiankun Ring, otherwise I might not have been able to store all the grain here."

No sooner had Qin Shilei finished lamenting than a rustling sound came from behind him.

He turned around to see countless ants surging and crawling towards him.

Those ants were dark brown all over, varying in size, with the largest being thumb-sized and the smallest being chopstick-tip-sized.

At this moment, a rustling sound also came from behind him.

The ants were surrounding him from all directions.

The dense, countless small figures made one's scalp tingle.

"Did I come to an ant nest?"

With a thought, a golden shield appeared around Qin Shilei's body.

At this point, the ants had already crawled to his side, and they even climbed onto his body along the shield.

A bolt of lightning appeared in Qin Shilei's palm, and he pressed it directly onto his body.

A burnt smell arose, and countless ants fell to the ground.

As Qin Shilei continuously activated lightning with both hands, his feet quickly accumulated several thick layers of ants.

However, the ants on his body became more and more numerous, almost covering his entire body.

And the shield around him, under the gnawing of countless ants, actually began to shake, as if it was about to break.

Thinking of the skeleton he had just seen, Qin Shilei felt a little numb in his heart. His figure flickered, and he teleported out of the building.
