11: Chapter 11: Should I bring my brothers along?

While waiting for Jiang Heng's response, Xu Wanning scanned the people present, identifying each of Jiang Heng's three teammates from her past life, including the internet cafe clerk. At this moment, they still looked quite youthful.

When she saw them in her past life, they had long since shed their childishness and looked extremely numb, akin to living just for the sake of survival.

She wanted to recruit every single one of them into her team. In The Apocalypse, the most important thing when forming a team is loyalty.

And the simplest reason she could bring them into her team was that they were generally a bit chuunibyou; telling them they were going to save the world might just be the best reason to recruit them.

"Who is it?" a sleepy voice sounded, followed by the shuffling of slippers from inside. Then, a weak-looking boy with dyed yellow hair opened the door and peeked out through the crack.

He was clearly stunned when he saw Xu Wanning. "Who are you?"

Xu Wanning smiled and said, "Jiang Heng, I have a major matter that I need your help with. I know you have very strong technical skills."

Jiang Heng's expression immediately turned serious. That wasn't right; no one should know his identity. Where did this beautiful older sister find out about it?

"Let's go inside and talk." Xu Wanning held onto the doorknob.

Jiang Heng scratched his head. "Come in."

Under the gaze of those outside, Xu Wanning entered the private room and closed the door.

Jiang Heng opened a cup of instant noodles and poured water to steep it. "Speak, what is it?"

Xu Wanning glanced at him and waved her hand. The computer desk and chairs in the private room, including the instant noodles on the table, all vanished, leaving only the hot water kettle in Jiang Heng's hand.

"Holy shit!" Jiang Heng's eyes widened instantly, his eyeballs almost popping out. "You, how did you do that? Is it magic?"

Xu Wanning shook her head. "No, this is a Supernatural ability, a Space Ability." After saying this, she put the items back out.

Jiang Heng clenched his fists in excitement, his puppy-dog eyes staring straight at Xu Wanning. "So there really are cultivators in this world! Did you see that I have a unique bone structure and want to take me as your disciple?"

"No, it's not cultivation. It's that The Apocalypse is coming." Xu Wanning pressed him back down into his seat.

"Three months from now, there will be a massive Acid Rain. At that time, two-thirds of humanity will be infected by the virus and become zombies. Of the remaining one-third, some will awaken to become Ability Users, while most will remain ordinary people."

Jiang Heng composed his expression. "You mean to say The Apocalypse is coming, and zombies are coming?"

Xu Wanning nodded. "Yes."

Jiang Heng felt awful. He was only 18; he hadn't lived enough yet. "Then, why are you telling me?"

Xu Wanning beamed. "Because in my past life, we were friends, and you were a powerful psychic Ability User."

Jiang Heng immediately straightened his back. "I'm a psychic Ability User, and a powerful one at that? Haha, I knew I wouldn't be a noob!"

Xu Wanning nodded affirmatively. "That's right. In my past life, you escaped with twenty-six brothers from this internet cafe. By the time we met, only three people were left by your side."

"You said that was the regret of a lifetime, and if you could do it all over again, you would want to lead them to live well. So, I came."

Jiang Heng stood up abruptly. "What?! Only three left?! That's too tragic! My brothers aren't exactly weaklings; how could they all have died?"

Xu Wanning looked up at him. She could understand Jiang Heng's shock, just as she hadn't expected her own teammates to die one by one.

"Because the vast majority of them were ordinary people, and they were loyal; most of them died trying to save their other brothers."

Jiang Heng's tears streamed down. "I understand. If I could survive to the end, it must have been because some brothers died for me. I let them down."

"But, but we don't have money. With supplies, we could at most buy a few boxes of instant noodles and ham sausages. How are we supposed to survive?"

Although he was a hacker, he never made money. He just liked poking around other people's computers and attacking their firewalls, purely for fun.

Xu Wanning placed a box of self-heating hot pot on the table. "I have the supplies. I want to form a team for The Apocalypse. Will you bring your brothers along to join?"

"I have always believed that there is strength in numbers. If everyone utilizes their greatest abilities, this time we will definitely be able to live very well."

Jiang Heng slapped the table. "Join, we'll join! We absolutely have to join. I'll go tell the brothers right now."

He took a step toward the door and pulled it open. With a clatter, the boys crowding at the door nearly tackled Jiang Heng.

They stood up awkwardly, looking sheepishly at Xu Wanning, who was staring at them. "Hehe, hehe."

Xu Wanning didn't mean to blame them at all. "Did you all hear it?"

They nodded awkwardly.

"You, what you told Hengzi, is it true?" "Is The Apocalypse really coming?" "Doesn't that mean we won't be able to play games ever again?"

They started asking all at once. Jiang Heng glanced at the internet cafe clerk at the door. "Zhang Shan, close the door and turn off the surveillance cameras. I have something to tell you all."

The owner of this internet cafe was Jiang Heng, but since he was young, he had found Zhang Shan to hold down the fort. Zhang Shan wasn't very old, but he was big and bulky, so generally, no one dared to provoke him.

Zhang Shan made an OK gesture, closed the door, and unplugged the surveillance cameras directly. A group of people gathered together; there were exactly twenty-six of them.

Jiang Heng looked at Xu Wanning, wanting her to demonstrate.

Xu Wanning stepped forward. "My name is Xu Wanning, and I was a friend of Jiang Heng's in my past life." After speaking, she waved her hand, and the items in the internet cafe vanished completely.

"Holy shit!" "Holy shit!" sounds rose one after another.

Xu Wanning waited until they calmed down a bit before speaking. "This is a Space Ability. I know you don't have any money, so I have prepared some supplies."

"Right now, the most important thing for you is to exercise. In the early stages of The Apocalypse, whether you are an Ability User or an ordinary person, you will need to rely on cold weapons to fight zombies. Physical fitness is the most important thing."

"Perhaps you will be the saviors of the future Apocalypse. By then, those who looked down on you will have to look up to you, and the parents who were disappointed in you will also be proud of you."

When Xu Wanning said this, they were all quite excited. Their minds were filled with scenes of everyone praising them, especially the parents who usually didn't see eye-to-eye with them.

"Sister Ning, we're in with you! It's only three months, right? I definitely won't be lazy during these three months!"

"Yeah, let's do it!"

Jiang Heng also raised his fist. He wanted to let his parents know that he wasn't a good-for-nothing; he just didn't like studying.

Xu Wanning opened her QR code. "Jiang Heng, let's add each other on wechat so it's easier to stay in touch."

"Okay." Jiang Heng took out his phone and scanned the code.

"We want to add you too, we want to add you too!" Zhang Shan and the others hurriedly took out their phones to scan the code, afraid they wouldn't be able to add her.

"I'm leaving first. Remember, do not tell your families about this for now, in case they accidentally let it slip and get arrested on charges of spreading panic."

"Got it!"

Zhang Shan went over and opened the door. As soon as Xu Wanning stepped out, she saw the black SUV across the street. She had seen this car in her past life and had ridden in it many times; it was Lu Chengyue's car.
