3: Chapter 3 Sexy Beauty
1.86 million was already a significant amount for them.
"Ningning, you understand The Apocalypse. You tell us what supplies we need to order, make a list, and my family's supermarket has suppliers; I'll have them get everything ready."
Lu Zhiyu was a Jing City local and her family ran a chain of supermarkets, so they were never short on supply channels.
Xu Wanning leaned forward. "Zhiyu, if we clear out all the supplies from your family's supermarket and warehouse in advance, will your parents beat you up?"
Lu Zhiyu shuddered. "I don't know if they would hit me, but my brother will definitely beat me up!"
Thinking of Lu Chengyue, Xu Wanning couldn't help but laugh. He just looked a bit fierce, his body was a bit burly, and his muscles were a bit solid, but he wouldn't actually hit anyone.
Xu Wanning patted her chest. "It's fine. If your brother tries to hit you, I'll block him. We need to clear out the supermarket items at least a month in advance; I'm afraid The Apocalypse will arrive early."
Lu Zhiyu looked at her with disdain. "You? My brother could slap you against the wall, and you wouldn't even be able to peel yourself off."
Song Yunqing and Wen Shuyang were amused, and a mental image formed in their minds.
Xu Wanning winked at Lu Zhiyu. "Don't worry, I have a way."
Lu Zhiyu didn't take it to heart, thinking she was just joking. "Let's start hoarding supplies first. Two months from now, we'll secretly clear out the supermarket's stock, and if my brother hits me, I'll just cry."
Song Yunqing and Wen Shuyang gave a thumbs up. "Our future as sisters depends on you."
There was no time left, so the four of them hurried to class.
She hadn't attended class in three years, so Xu Wanning couldn't focus on anything and just used her notebook to make a list.
2 million sounded like a lot, but in reality, it wouldn't buy much for hoarding supplies. She didn't have any channels to make money, so the question was whether to milk online loans or go overseas for some "zero-dollar shopping."
She scribbled away, categorizing everything into food, clothing, housing, and transportation. Food took up the largest portion, and within food, she also included medicine and seeds.
Of that, one million was allocated for 100 tons of rice, 100 tons of white flour, 20 tons of soybean oil, and 1,000 tons of water. She would prioritize other things with the rest and find time to go overseas for some "zero-dollar shopping."
Once she finished writing, she pushed the notebook to Lu Zhiyu. "Zhiyu, see if anything is missing?"
Lu Zhiyu took it and looked carefully. Food and water could be delivered by suppliers, but weapons and medicine were impossible; they would have to get those themselves.
Before they knew The Apocalypse was coming, they could attend class calmly, but now they were completely distracted and really wanted to run away.
After finally enduring the class, Lu Zhiyu quickly sent the purchase list to the supermarket's procurement department.
"There's no class this afternoon. You guys come with me to the Fire Station to deliver things to my brother first, then we'll go buy seeds and weapons, and some medicine. I'll also try to see if I can squeeze some money out of my brother."
"Sure." Wen Shuyang and Song Yunqing didn't have any other ideas, so they decided to follow Ningning and Zhiyu's lead.
They took the things back to the dormitory to put on makeup and change clothes.
Xu Wanning chose a creamy white sweater and deliberately pulled the neckline down to reveal a bit of her collarbone.
Her hair was worn loose in big waves, and she applied two coats of mascara. She looked innocent yet disheveled—it didn't look like she had put in any effort; it looked very casual.
Once they were ready, the four of them left the school gate.
The Fire Station where Lu Chengyue was stationed was near the university town, a ten-minute taxi ride away. None of the four had a car, so they called a taxi.
Along the way, Xu Wanning was a bit nervous, wondering if the current Lu Chengyue would like her.
She wasn't the innocent student type; on the contrary, she had been a stunning beauty since she was young. Coupled with her curvy figure and willow-like waist, Lu Zhiyu and the others all called her a sexy vixen.
Because of her looks, before high school, she was often gossiped about behind her back. For a while, she was very insecure and only dared to wear loose clothes, never taking off her school uniform, and even hunched her chest when walking.
It wasn't until she started university that her roommates discovered the great figure hidden beneath her baggy clothes and dragged her out to buy clothes that suited her.
Her first stunning appearance made her the school's new campus belle, a title she held for three consecutive years.
In her past life, she had gone through so much with Lu Chengyue before they finally got together. The day they died happened to be their one-hundredth day together; it should have been a day worth celebrating, but it became the anniversary of their death.
"Look, this is what my brother posted on his Moments this morning. He was on the night shift last night, so he probably hasn't even woken up yet."
Xu Wanning glanced over casually. It was a photo of a little white dog, tied next to a fire hydrant, stretching. The caption was just one word: 'Morning'.
At the edge of the photo, half of a training uniform sleeve was visible, stained with mud, and the veins on the back of his hand were clearly visible.
Xu Wanning's heart couldn't help but pound. That large hand felt as if it were caressing her waist right now, sending a tingling, numb sensation through her.
The taxi stopped in front of the Fire Station. Lu Zhiyu, familiar with the routine, went to register. "Brother Jiang, I'm here to deliver things to my brother."
Jiang Yishen, who was guarding the gate, took out the registration book and handed it to her, his gaze falling on the three girls over there.
Finally, it settled on Xu Wanning. He was stunned at first glance—how could a woman be so breathtakingly beautiful? His heart couldn't help but beat violently a few times.
Thinking Jiang Yishen was suspicious of her roommates, Lu Zhiyu quickly explained, "They are my roommates. We're going shopping in a bit, so they came with me. Don't worry, they aren't bad people, I promise."
While speaking, she didn't forget to write down their names as well.
Jiang Yishen nodded with a cold face and let them in. Lu Zhiyu came often, so they were familiar with each other.
After the four of them entered, everyone except Lu Zhiyu couldn't help but look around. It was their first time being in a Fire Station in their lives.
Not far away, a fire truck was parked. It didn't seem like much when looking from upstairs, but up close, they realized how huge it was. The bright red body exuded an air of solemnity.
Over at the training ground, a few Firefighters were collecting fire hoses. Someone whistled in their direction, only to be smacked on the back of the head by the person next to him.
The person rubbed his head foolishly, not annoyed. "Zhiyu, your brother is in the equipment room on the third floor."
"Got it, Brother Li." Lu Zhiyu waved her hand, grabbed Xu Wanning's hand, and ran inside.
Xu Wanning took a few small steps to keep up, the hem of her sweater swaying.
They ran all the way to the third floor. The door to the equipment room was open, and the sound of things being tidied up came from inside.
Lu Zhiyu called out, "Brother."
A voice responded from inside, "Hmm." It was magnetic and low, with the distinct texture of someone who had pulled an all-nighter.
Thump-thump, thump-thump-thump. Xu Wanning stared at the door until Lu Chengyue walked out.
Lu Chengyue was very tall, 1.89 meters, or a simple 1.92 meters with shoes on.
His training jacket was open, revealing a green physical training shirt soaked in sweat, the color much darker than usual.
His sleeves were rolled up to his forearms, and on his sinewy forearms was a long, old scar.
He had neat short hair, clean temples, and his bangs were dampened, hanging loosely. His jawline was sharp and defined, and his wheat-colored skin radiated an alluring luster.
His double eyelids drooped, carrying a hint of casual fatigue. "Something up?"
