59: Chapter 59 Missing You
The entrance was filled with fully armed soldiers, and the atmosphere was too serious; Xu Wanning kept her eyes straight ahead the entire time.
Once the warehouse door opened, materials were piled up to the brim; if they really had to be loaded by truck, one night definitely wouldn't be enough.
"Are these all of them?" Xu Wanning turned her head to look at Uncle Zhang, who had brought her.
Uncle Zhang asked with some uncertainty, "Yes, that's all of them. Can you fit them?"
Xu Wanning let her actions serve as her answer. With a wave of her hand, the materials in the warehouse vanished. Twenty thousand cubic meters would have actually been enough, and after she cleared out her space, it was more than sufficient.
Uncle Zhang's eyes widened. Supernatural abilities related to space were truly amazing. He had seen it once before, but it wasn't as shocking as seeing it this time.
"Are there any more?" Xu Wanning looked back at Uncle Zhang.
"No, there aren't any more." Uncle Zhang's speech was a bit stuttered. "Let's, let's go back."
No wonder The Great Leader wanted Nickname to come and help; it really was much faster than them struggling to load and unload trucks.
It took another hour to return to the Grain Depot. The officials there thought the mission hadn't succeeded when they saw the car return so quickly, but only The Great Leader smiled with understanding.
The car stopped in a spacious area, and Xu Wanning got out of the car with Uncle Zhang.
"Nickname, just put them here." Uncle Zhang pointed to that spot.
"Okay, Uncle Zhang, step back." Xu Wanning eyeballed the required space and waved her hand to release all the materials.
The materials came out exactly as they had gone in, without any deformation or damage.
"This Supernatural ability is just too useful."
"Exactly, it's so useful."
"I wonder if we'll be able to awaken a Supernatural ability after The Apocalypse. I personally would really like a Water Ability. I'm a person who loves to drink water; it's uncomfortable if I don't."
"I want a Fire Ability; it's warm."
"Then I want a Wood Ability; I wouldn't have to worry about eating vegetables."
The usually composed leaders of various levels seemed to have returned to their adolescence at this moment, imagining they could perform various magic spells like immortals.
Xu Wanning looked at The Great Leader. "Is there anything else that needs to be moved?"
"Yes!" The Great Leader immediately pulled out a small notebook. There were many things they wanted to move; they were trying their best to relocate all supplies to this Grain Depot and then post heavy guards to protect them.
Xu Wanning took the paper and looked at it. "Then let's set off now."
It was still Uncle Zhang in charge of taking her. The group busied themselves all night; there were still a few places they hadn't been to, as most of their time was wasted on the road.
They checked her into a five-star hotel. After returning, she started sleeping and didn't wake up until the afternoon.
There were many people talking in the group chat, but she hadn't heard it. Seeing it now, she replied.
Lu Chengyue also sent her a message, asking her to check in when she was free.
[Busy all night, just woke up.] Xu Wanning sent the message.
[Me too!] He had also been busy all night. The entire Jing City had been divided into zones, with a total of six districts.
They were collecting supplies and concentrating them in selected buildings, then reinforcing them, especially against corrosion, earthquakes, and cold.
Xu Wanning sent a video call, and Lu Chengyue answered quickly. His background was in the dormitory, and he was wearing a training uniform.
"Are you going on duty?" She didn't know if it was an illusion, but she always felt that Lu Chengyue seemed to have lost weight.
"Yeah." Lu Chengyue looked a bit exhausted.
Xu Wanning's eyes darted around. "A-Yue, you have dust on your face."
Lu Chengyue wiped his face with the back of his hand. There was no dirt on the back of his hand, and he looked at the camera blankly. "It's not dirty."
"A little to the left, a little more to the left, yes, right there." Xu Wanning acted as if it were real.
He wiped for a long time, but she kept saying it wasn't clean, even though she couldn't see anything on the camera—it was very clean.
"Wait a second." Xu Wanning took a screenshot, then Photoshopped a red lipstick kiss mark on his cheek and sent it to him.
Lu Chengyue saw the picture and suddenly laughed. "Naughty."
Xu Wanning chuckled. "I just screen-recorded that."
Lu Chengyue didn't understand. "Recording my stupid look while wiping off dust?"
Xu Wanning shook her finger. "Recording you listening to my instructions; it was super cute."
Lu Chengyue's ears turned red again. "Are you going to go tonight?"
"Yeah, I still have to go; I didn't finish yesterday." Xu Wanning lay down; as soon as she thought about working, she didn't want to move. "I don't want to work."
Lu Chengyue fell into her trap. "Then what do you want to do? Sleep?"
Xu Wanning blinked. "I miss you."
Lu Chengyue coughed, very hard, and choked on his own saliva.
She lifted her head with concern. "Are you okay?"
Lu Chengyue picked up his water cup and took a sip. "I'm fine, I choked on some water."
Xu Wanning sighed. "I just said I miss you, and you choked?" She hadn't even said anything risqué yet.
"No, it's…" Lu Chengyue's face turned even redder.
"What is it?" She leaned in to look closely.
"Ningning, can you not say things like that so suddenly?" He still couldn't really handle it.
"What kind of things?" She hadn't said anything excessive.
"Just, just that kind." Lu Chengyue touched his burning earlobes.
"Like 'I miss you'? I really do miss you." Xu Wanning said it intentionally with lingering affection.
Lu Chengyue started coughing again.
Jiang Yishen, who had just entered, looked at him with concern. "Old Lu, are you okay? You're coughing so hard."
Lu Chengyue moved his phone down. "I'm fine, I choked on some water."
Jiang Yishen leaned in. "You can choke while drinking water? Are you looking at something you shouldn't be?"
Lu Chengyue hurriedly hung up the phone. "It's nothing."
Xu Wanning heard it, but didn't mind that he hung up directly.
Three seconds later, he sent a message: [My comrade is back.]
[I heard. Let's talk next time; I'm going to eat.] Xu Wanning lazily got up to wash up; she was hungry.
After going downstairs, Grandpa Zhou, Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan, and Uncle Zhang were all in the restaurant downstairs. Seeing her come over, they hurriedly waved for her to come over. "Come quickly, the food here is quite good."
Xu Wanning trotted over; if there was food available outside, she wouldn't eat what was in her space.
Grandpa Zhou was right; it was truly delicious, especially the braised pork ribs. They were made very well, and she even ate a few extra mouthfuls of rice.
After eating, she went back to her room to rest. Until 6:00 PM, when Uncle Zhang came to knock on the door, and she started getting busy again.
Basically, the first half of the night was spent in the car, but progress was very fast. The transportation work that would have originally taken at least a week was finished in two days because of her involvement.
When she was about to go back to rest, The Great Leader came to find her. He looked at her lovingly. "Nickname, the work in the Central District is finished. The leader of the First District said they would like to request your assistance. What do you think…"
Xu Wanning agreed without hesitation. "Sure, I don't really have anything to do usually anyway, and it's definitely better if I can help."
The Great Leader's eyes turned red with emotion. "Thank you, Nickname."
The leader of the First District came over to meet Xu Wanning. Afterward, she was still escorted to the First District by Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan and Grandpa Zhou, and the hotel arranged was just as comfortable.
She was busy for a total of 12 days, and everything that needed to be transported was finished. She finally returned home at 8:00 AM on May 16th.
During this period, she couldn't get in touch with Lu Chengyue at all; their schedules didn't overlap, so they could only send a message and wait for the other person to reply when they had time.
As soon as they saw Xu Wanning, everyone in the courtyard ran over.
Wen Shuyang and the others hugged her, wishing they could give her a kiss or two.
After being clingy for a while, Lu Zhiyu finally remembered her brother. "Ningning, let's go to the Fire Station. My brother said he went back to the Fire Station today."
"You two haven't seen each other in a long time; go see him. He kept looking for me these past few days when he couldn't reach you; I was about to get anxious."
