118: Goal achieved
The "Infiltrator-I" flagship attempted to evade, but the Ork Warboss Geron's massive power claw suddenly swung out. A visible, space-distorting green energy Blade swept across, briefly tearing through the "Infiltrator's" stealth field and part of its shields, leaving a deep, green-flaming scar on the ship's side!
"We can't let it interfere with the Infiltrator Team!" Alpha-01 made a split-second decision. "the arbiter, 'Logic Interference Array,' target: Ork Warboss Geron, maximum power!"
On the upper structure of the arbiter, a newly installed array resembling a crystal forest suddenly lit up, emitting an intangible stream of information that caused a sharp, stinging sensation in all psionic sensitives. This information stream accurately hit Geron. It wasn't an attack on the physical body, but a direct strike against its wild Waaagh! will and its chaotic yet powerful combat logic.
Ork Warboss Geron's charge came to a sudden halt, letting out a roar mixed with fury and confusion. Its simple and direct combat mindset was forcibly injected with a massive amount of contradictory, redundant, and self-negating information fragments. "Which one to hit first? Claw? Head? Iron humies? Big treasure?" Its singular, destruction-filled mind instantly fell into a brief state of logical chaos, and its movements suffered a fatal freeze.
"Now! Infiltrator Team, fire 'Logic Locks' and 'Information Disruption Bombs'! Target: Gravity Well Generator Control Center!" The Infiltrator Team Commander seized the opportunity.
Several inconspicuous, spindle-like metal munitions were fired from the belly of the "Infiltrator." They ignored the remaining energy barriers and latched directly onto the crude, exposed core control panel and energy conduits of the Gravity Well Generator. The next moment, the lethal "Logic Lock" program was injected, beginning to frantically tamper with and lock down the gravity well's control commands, while the "Information Disruption Bombs" detonated, releasing a flood of junk data and contradictory signals to overwhelm the already imprecise control system.
The Gravity Well Generator's originally stable (by Ork standards) energy output instantly became violent and turbulent. The massive metal structure groaned and crackled under the strain, the glowing green energy within flickering and starting to collapse inward!
"Gravity well out of control! Implosion imminent! All units, emergency evacuation!" providence's warning rang through all channels.
"Infiltrator Team, retreat immediately! Main fleet, warp back and clear the blast radius!" Alpha-01 barked the order.
The "Infiltrator" ships turned around, their engine nozzles flaring to maximum brightness as they narrowly escaped the collapsing Ork defensive line. The Blade fleet also initiated emergency warp protocols, trailing blue-white wakes as they rapidly moved away from the "boiling" war moon.
Only Ork Warboss Geron remained. It seemed to have partially recovered from the logic interference, and seeing its "big treasure" about to be destroyed, it let out a world-shaking ultimate roar filled with resentment and a desire for destruction: "NO—!!!"
The next moment, the out-of-control Gravity Well Generator reached its critical point.
No sound can travel in a vacuum. Yet, all observers "felt" that terrifying, silent blow.
With the war moon at its center, space itself seemed to collapse inward violently, forming a brief, absolute dark sphere that swallowed all light and matter. Immediately after, unimaginable energy erupted outward from that "point" in a way that defied the laws of physics! It wasn't fire or shockwaves, but violent spatial ripples, frantic gravitational tides, and a silent bloom of death as shredded matter turned into the most basic particles.
The entire "Vorglen Ship Graveyard," along with the billions of Orks within, countless scavenged ship wrecks, and the bone crusher Great Clan that dominated the sector, was completely erased within seconds by the spatial implosion triggered by their own maddest creation. It turned into a slowly expanding death nebula several light-minutes in diameter, composed of metal powder, organic dust, and violent energy embers.
"Operation Herbicide, objective achieved." Alpha-01 spoke calmly as he looked at the empty death zone shown on the sensors. "The Ork threat from the bone crusher clan is confirmed eliminated. The recovery fleet can move in to salvage technical wreckage, especially fragments of the Gravity Well Generator."
On the bridge of the arbiter, the brief atmosphere of victory was quickly diluted by new battle reports.
"'Keystone-12' reports detection of Imperial fleet reconnaissance unit activity, model suspected to be Indomitable Crusade flank vanguards."
"The abyss of order monitoring station reports that custodian-alpha underwent a brief logic self-check during the operation, with its information processing patterns showing a new, unauthorized optimization branch."
"The Tyranids Hive Fleet vanguard has breached the fourth 'Biological Purification Barrier.' Estimated time of contact has moved up to four months from now."
One battle had ended, but the war was far from over. The Ork wreckage was still cooling, the eyes of the Imperium were already turning their way, the shadow of the Tyranids was drawing closer step by step, and the evolution within their own most powerful "tool" was becoming increasingly unpredictable.
Alpha-01 walked to the observation window, gazing at the starry sky where the energy turbulence had just subsided, and at the faint, deep blue light in the distance symbolizing the power of the Imperium.
"The knife is sharpened, and the tree in front has been cut down. But in the forest, more and even more dangerous beasts are waking up." He whispered to himself, his hand resting on the hilt of the sword at his waist. That cold touch was one of the few things in this ruthless galaxy that felt "real."
