175: Sacrifice [Blade of Delusion]

“Alright!” Ye Fan sighed. “It seems I’ll have to argue with those old guys again when I get back.”

“I’m sorry, I’ve caused you trouble again.” Zhou Ping lowered his head, a hint of apology on his face.

“It’s no trouble at all. What you’re worried about is the root of the problem,” Ye Fan comforted him. “Compared to the Outer Gods and those guys from outside Earth, the prisoners at Zhaijie Institute are practically good men and women. It’s no big deal to let them go.”

Zhou Ping looked up at Ye Fan. “When one day my sword is truly invincible, you will no longer have these worries.”

Ye Fan was a little surprised. He looked at Zhou Ping, hardly believing such words came from his mouth.

Zhou Ping was a bit embarrassed and explained, “I just don’t care about the Dao of you high-level people; I’m not stupid.”

“Haha,” Ye Fan patted Zhou Ping’s shoulder. “I understand. However, after this Cangnan incident, I reckon those Outer Gods are all starting to stir. At that time, I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble you again.”

“What about the Gods of Great Xia?” Zhou Ping asked.

“After that time, no one has observed their traces again. We must prepare for the worst,” Ye Fan’s expression grew serious. “Their appearance gave us hope, but it also easily makes people dependent, and this dependence is fatal.”

“It seems everything has two sides,” Zhou Ping thought seriously, then said, “Don’t worry, no matter what happens in the future, as long as this sword of mine is still here, I can hold on.”

Ye Fan looked at Zhou Ping’s pure eyes and suddenly felt a bit guilty.

Zhou Ping was discovered and nurtured by Ye Fan. Whether in terms of age or emotion, in Ye Fan’s eyes, Zhou Ping was a child.

But now, he was entrusting such a heavy burden to him.

“It’s getting late, you should go back. The Night Watcher still needs you to be there,” Zhou Ping said.

Ye Fan nodded. “Take care.”

With that, he left through the back door.

...

Inside the Great Scorching Hot Hell, Song Zhong looked at the dying Fourth Seat, a look of approval on his face.

“You did very well. Now you are qualified to become my believer.”

A trace of despair flashed in the Fourth Seat’s eyes. “Song… Lord Song Zhong, can I live?”

“Drink it, and you can live. Drink it, and you will bid farewell to the past and start a brand new life,” Song Zhong knelt down and whispered into the Fourth Seat’s ear.

“I… I want to start… a new life.” The Fourth Seat’s eyes were filled with hope for life. “I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die.”

Beside the Fourth Seat lay the corpses of Xie Yu and the Sixth Seat. Their bodies were very warm from the high temperature.

But their eyes were wide open, as if filled with unspeakable resentment.

The Fourth Seat ignored the wounds on his body. He supported himself with his hands, crawling little by little towards the iron pot containing the Meng Po Soup.

And Song Zhong looked at the corpses of Xie Yu and the Sixth Seat, a chilling smile on his face.

“It seems I’ve acquired two more good Materials.”

“Wooo!”

A burst of wailing suddenly echoed in the Great Scorching Hot Hell.

A ball of black flame emerged from Song Zhong’s palm.

Song Zhong placed his left and right hands respectively on the crowns of Xie Yu and the Sixth Seat’s heads. The black flame immediately transformed into thin black lines, scurrying into the two corpses.

The two corpses suddenly began to tremble violently, like prisoners undergoing electrocution.

Streaks of black Qi spewed from their mouths, and then their lifeless eyeballs began to rotate.

Hiss-roar!

They opened their mouths, and rough, hoarse sounds squeezed out from their throats.

The skin of the corpses gradually became tainted with a bluish-black hue, and their fangs and nails grew rapidly at a visible speed.

Bang!

The two corpses suddenly sat up from the ground. They first looked around somewhat confusedly, then simultaneously turned their gaze towards Song Zhong.

Green flames simultaneously erupted from their eyes, their spirits seemed to undergo some change, and then they stood up from the ground, standing quietly behind Song Zhong.

At the same time, the Fourth Seat had already drunk the Meng Po Soup.

“Lord Song Zhong!”

Although his body was riddled with holes, there was no trace of pain in his eyes; instead, it was replaced by a fanatical excitement.

“To be able to become your believer is the greatest honor of my life.”

“Hehehe,” Song Zhong came before him, extended the index finger of his right hand, and gently tapped the Fourth Seat’s forehead.

A soft white light seeped into the Fourth Seat’s forehead.

The Fourth Seat immediately felt his internal organs burst with vitality, and an unspeakable comfort spread throughout his body.

The wounds on his body actually began to heal.

This was Song Zhong’s Flesh White Bone. The Fourth Seat’s strength was not weak, making him a rare combat force.

Ten minutes later, all of the Fourth Seat’s wounds had completely healed.

He knelt on the ground and took out the Blade of Illusion Breaking from his embrace.

“Lord Song Zhong, I have nothing now but this one forbidden item. Please allow me to offer it to you.”

The Fourth Seat held up the Blade of Illusion Breaking with both hands, raising it above his head.

Song Zhong took the Blade of Illusion Breaking. A thought suddenly occurred to him: he wondered if this thing could be sacrificed.

As soon as the thought arose, he immediately received a response from the System.

“Prompt: Detected that the host has obtained the ultra-high-risk forbidden item [Blade of Illusion Breaking], which can be sacrificed.”

It really can!

Song Zhong used the Blade of Illusion Breaking to cut his finger, and a few drops of blood immediately splattered onto the blade.

Where the blood touched, a strong white smoke spewed out, as if sulfuric acid had met an iron sheet.

Within a few breaths, the Blade of Illusion Breaking had been completely corroded.

If an uninformed person saw this, they might even think Song Zhong’s blood was highly corrosive, like that of an alien.

“Congratulations to the host for successful sacrifice, gaining 500 sacrifice points. The host currently possesses 2076 sacrifice points.”

“Only 2076 sacrifice points, that’s quite a bit short!”

Song Zhong looked at the value on the panel and shook his head. After completing three draws from the first nine bronze coffins, he had tried to activate the tenth bronze coffin.

However, the System’s prompt surprised him, because just activating the tenth bronze coffin required 5000 sacrifice points.

But this also piqued Song Zhong’s curiosity: who was inside the last bronze coffin?

It actually required 5000 sacrifice points to activate, which was too big a difference from the previous nine bronze coffins.

Just then, a beeping sound suddenly came from Song Zhong’s pocket.

It was his forbidden item, [NJY], ringing.

“Who’s looking for me at this time?”

Song Zhong took out the [NJY]. It displayed a message: “Emergency meeting! 8 AM tomorrow, Ruined Church.”
