374: Headless Horseman

"Who are you?"

Bishop Lance sat up from the wool blanket, crimson wine spilling everywhere. He reached down to pick up his scepter from the ground. The blue gem at the tip of the scepter emitted a dazzling light, and a sharp alarm blared throughout the entire church.

At this moment, Knight Commander Mendes also reacted. He drew the longsword from his waist, turned around, and stared at the strange young man, asking cautiously:

"Was the Boundary Gate destroyed by you? Who are you? What is your purpose in sneaking into Paradise?"

Song Zhong ignored Mendes; his gaze remained fixed on Bishop Lance.

"Paradise? What an ironic name, but it's true. For people like you, this is indeed a paradise."

A surge of anger rose in the heart of the ignored Mendes, but he couldn't determine the young man's strength from his behavior, so he continued to ask:

"Answer my question, or the Holy Light of Asgard will shatter your Soul."

"Shatter my Soul?"

Song Zhong extended a finger and lightly pointed it at Mendes. Amidst the spilled wine on the ground, a small droplet of water slowly rose.

Mendes was greatly alarmed by this scene; the opponent was actually a Mental Energy user.

If the opponent had Mental Energy, how did he enter the Boundary Gate?

But the next second, Mendes's thoughts were interrupted by a piercing pain.

That red droplet, like a bullet, directly penetrated Mendes's knee.

"Ah!"

A jet of blood spurted from behind Mendes's knee. With a thud, Mendes knelt on one knee on the ground, his face contorted in pain, as he struggled to support himself with his longsword.

"You...who exactly are you? Why are Paradise's defenses ineffective against you?"

At this moment, Bishop Lance had already stood up. He chanted a Spell, and then a soft white light burst from the tip of his staff.

That white light flowed into Mendes's wound, and under the bathing of the Holy Light, Mendes's wound actually began to heal.

"Mendes, don't panic. With the blessing of the Holy Light, you will be invincible."

After Bishop Lance finished speaking, three consecutive enhancement Spells struck Mendes.

Mendes immediately felt his Qi and blood surge. Not only were his previous injuries completely healed, but he also felt an endless surge of power pouring into his hands.

Mendes stood up again, his shining armor imbued with a sacred Aura, and faint blue light paths appeared on the longsword in his hand.

At this moment, rustling footsteps came from the outskirts of the church. Over a thousand members of the Knight Order had already arrived.

As soon as they heard Bishop Lance's warning, they immediately rushed over. Upon seeing a stranger break into the church, they all drew their longswords and surrounded Song Zhong.

Mendes's eyes were cold, as if looking at a dead man.

"Forget it, no matter who you are, you have no chance now."

Mendes raised his longsword high, and a faint blue light shot into the sky. The sky above the church was already covered with dark clouds, and purple lightning rumbled within the storm clouds.

Song Zhong looked up at the sky, "The Aura is quite good. Under the enhancement of power, has it reached the Peak of Klein?"

Mendes sneered, "Ridiculous. Only now do you know fear? If you had this realization earlier, perhaps I might have been merciful enough to spare your life.

But now, you can only repent in Hell.

[Oath: Sword of Slaughter]"

Rumble!

The entire church was suddenly swept by strong winds, and the rolling thunder roared incessantly. The entire Human Realm was enveloped under the surging might of heaven.

In the "cells" below the church, the commoners trembled one by one, kneeling on the ground and beginning to repent.

"Great Lord of Asgard, please forgive our sins, and do not let disaster befall us."

"I repent! I will dedicate my lifelong faith to the Gods of Asgard!"

"Please, Gods, have mercy on the world, and let this disaster pass quickly."

...

The atmosphere inside the church had frozen to an ice point. Violent bolts of lightning, as thick as water buckets, struck down towards Song Zhong's position.

The members of the Knight Order were protected by the Holy Light of Asgard, so they were not worried about being struck by lightning.

The target of this terrifying attack was only one person: Song Zhong!

Rumble!

Explosions and flames burst open in the center of the church. The stone pillars and statues standing around the square instantly shattered into pieces.

The dazzling light made everyone instinctively squint their eyes. The aftermath of the explosion lasted for a full ten minutes before the members of the Knight Order, enduring severe pain, opened their eyes.

At this moment, a black pit, several tens of meters deep, appeared before everyone's eyes in the church square.

Black smoke billowed from the deep pit. The high temperature distorted everyone's vision, and the melted rocks and rubble glowed with a deep red light.

"That intruder must have been reduced to ashes, right?"

"No one can survive under Lord Mendes's attack. That guy probably can't even find his ashes."

"Carl, go and check. I think we should still be careful and cautious," an elderly knight said.

The young knight named Carl raised his longsword, walked to the edge of the deep pit, and looked inside.

He looked left and right, observing for a long time, then frowned and said, "Teacher, there's nothing in the deep pit."

The elderly knight didn't mind. "If that's the case, then go report to Lord Mendes!"

Carl nodded and then quickly walked towards Knight Commander Mendes.

"Lord Mendes, the intruder has been completely eliminated by you," Carl said.

But strangely, Mendes was gazing into the distance and did not acknowledge the young knight.

Carl found it a bit strange. Although Lord Mendes was naturally arrogant and acted presumptuously, he wouldn't ignore him in this situation, would he?

Perhaps his attitude wasn't humble enough?

Carl thought so, and so he lowered his voice even further, "Lord Mendes, the intruder has been eliminated by you."

But what awaited Carl was still Mendes, gazing into the distance.

Carl was a bit strange. He called out two or three more times, and still received no answer. Carl then bravely approached Mendes's side.

He gently patted Mendes's shoulder, "Lord Mendes, what's wrong?"

Just as Carl finished speaking, Knight Commander Mendes finally reacted.

A straight red line suddenly appeared on his neck, and then a large amount of blood flowed out from the red line.

Carl hadn't even reacted to what was happening when he saw Mendes's head fall from his neck.

His head rolled all the way until it stopped at Bishop Lance's feet.
