430: Ships floating downstream

“A person from the Other Shore?”

Song Zhong keenly caught Kronos's words; he had heard similar statements from Old Wang Mian.

Life on Earth, whether human or divine, would eventually age and die when facing the impact of Time.

Even if you were the Time God, there was no escaping it.

The Time River was the shackles that bound all life on Earth.

However, Song Zhong was an extraterrestrial demon, and so was Memorial; they were not originally from this Earth, and thus were not afraid of the erosion of the Time River.

The Law of Time had no effect on them.

Nevertheless, Song Zhong did not relax his guard; although the Law of Time was useless against him, it did not mean that other powers transformed using the Law of Time could not harm him.

For example, the terrifying saber Qi enhanced by Wang Mian using the Time Bandit theoretically fell within the scope of physical attacks.

Since even Kronos's proxy could achieve this, did he himself not have other means?

Therefore, Song Zhong did not remove the protection of Weak Water but continued to watch Kronos, observing his next move.

But unexpectedly, Kronos merely put away his pocket watch and walked towards Song Zhong.

Song Zhong was a bit puzzled; this old man... surely he wasn't going to fight him in close combat, right?

On Kronos's aged face, a trace of excitement appeared, and his excited eyes seemed to make him several years younger.

“You truly are a person from the Other Shore! Wang Mian didn't lie to me, didn't lie to me... Hahaha!”

Looking at the somewhat deranged Kronos, Song Zhong knew that things seemed to be developing in a strange direction.

He removed the Weak Water Barrier and looked at Kronos, asking:

“Time God, now it's time to explain what exactly is going on with you?”

At this moment, Kronos had lost all Battle Intent, appearing just like a kind old grandfather next door.

“Little friend Song Zhong, I'm sorry, I actually don't have any hostility towards you. From the very beginning, I was escalating the conflict between us.

I sincerely apologize for the trouble I've caused you,” Kronos said.

The drastic change in the other party's attitude made Song Zhong a bit strange.

“Wait, you just mentioned Wang Mian. Could it be that the reason you did all this was to bring me here and verify whether I am indeed a person from the Other Shore?”

Kronos nodded, “I'm sorry, please forgive my selfishness, but I was truly at my wit's end.”

After speaking, Kronos began to explain to Song Zhong the reason for his actions.

It turned out that after Kronos foresaw the destruction of Olympus, he had been trying to find a way to save Olympus.

But through endless years, he had never been able to glimpse a future where Olympus was saved.

This meant that no matter what attempts Kronos made, he would not achieve any results.

Until one day, Wang Mian came to him to ask how to enter the Time River.

Kronos was very curious why a Mortal would want to enter the Time River, so Wang Mian explained his concept of becoming a god.

Kronos, upon hearing the idea of becoming a god at three time nodes—Past, Present, and Future—couldn't help but feel it was a Miracle.

So, after thorough questioning, he learned of the existence of a person from the Other Shore, Song Zhong.

According to Old Wang Mian, this Song Zhong was a person standing outside the Time River.

This gave Kronos new hope.

The reason why his attempts always yielded no results was perhaps because he himself was also within the Time River.

There's an old saying in Great Xia: 'The authorities are confused, but the bystanders are clear.'

Perhaps it was because his own destiny was also affected by the Time River that he couldn't help Olympus escape this fate.

However, an outsider standing outside the Time River might be different.

Only by standing outside could one see more possibilities and glimpse scenery that one could not perceive.

Thus, Kronos, like Old Wang Mian at the time, placed his hope on Song Zhong.

Regardless of the outcome, Kronos had to try, because his own Time was truly running out.

After listening to Kronos's explanation, Song Zhong rubbed his temples.

He felt a bit tired; he wasn't some wishing well, why was everyone coming to him?

“Kronos, after all that, these are just your conjectures,” Song Zhong said.

“Even if it fails, I am willing to try. If it is the will of heaven, I have nothing to regret,” Kronos said sincerely.

“Alright!” Song Zhong looked at Kronos, then changed the subject, “It's not impossible to help you, but what price are you willing to pay? You refused me on the moon before.”

Kronos saw that there was a chance and quickly said, “Besides taking you into the Minotaur's labyrinth, I will also help Wang Mian become the new Time God.”

“Hmm?” Song Zhong looked at Kronos with a smile, “Helping Wang Mian become the Time God doesn't seem to benefit me much.”

Kronos also smiled, like an old fox.

He slowly said, “To be able to help Wang Mian come up with such a method of becoming a god to avoid the risk of 'Dao transformation,' I think you must also want to see him succeed.”

Satisfaction is a very strange emotion.

Guiding others to unprecedented heights is sometimes more joyful than reaching the summit oneself.

Part of the reason Song Zhong created the Conferred God Ceremony was due to the desire for satisfaction.

Hearing Kronos say this, Song Zhong decided not to string him along anymore.

Originally, Song Zhong had thought of gaining a bit more from Kronos, but unfortunately, the other party was also an old fox and could see through it, so there was no need for him to waste more words.

“Deal!” Song Zhong readily agreed.

Kronos also smiled contentedly; in this absurd duel, he gained, and the other party didn't lose.

This feeling was truly marvelous.

“Since that's the case, I will take you away from this place,” Kronos said.

A silver light erupted from Kronos, enveloping Song Zhong.

Just as Kronos was about to take Song Zhong away, suddenly, a small boat appeared upstream of the Time River.

Kronos and Song Zhong simultaneously felt a sensation, and the silver light slowly disappeared.

“A boat floated down from upstream,” Song Zhong said.

Kronos's brow furrowed into a piece of bark, and his tone was filled with disbelief.

“How is this possible? There can be no boats on the Time River; no object can transcend Time.

Unless...”

Kronos's voice paused.

“Unless what?” Song Zhong asked.

“Unless, that is a Miracle,” Kronos slowly said.
