133: out of control

"Wait! Don't stab it!"

Li Ke suddenly shrieked and reached out to block it.

"This system is integrated! Stabbing the speaker might cause unstable voltage and fry that brain!"

"Then make him shut up!" Chen Mo roared.

"I... I'm trying! But this firewall is military-grade!" Li Ke's fingers flew across the keyboard, leaving afterimages. "He's remotely controlling this terminal, and I'm fighting for control!"

Just then, dazzling headlights from behind illuminated the car interior.

Two modified black SUVs, like two steel beasts, roared through the rain curtain, heading straight for the Porsche's rear.

The sunroof opened, and two gunmen wearing night vision goggles leaned out.

Da da da da!

Fire spit out.

Bullets struck the Porsche's bulletproof glass, leaving spiderweb-like cracks.

"Drive!"

Chen Mo slapped Su Qingxue's shoulder.

The sharp pain instantly pulled Su Qingxue back from the brink of collapse.

She bit her lip, the metallic taste of blood stimulating her nerves.

Instinct took over her body.

Shifted gear, released the brake, floored the accelerator.

The red Porsche let out a shriek, its tires spinning twice on the slick asphalt, then shot forward like a red bullet.

The G-force pressed everyone firmly into their seats.

"Turn left! Get on the elevated road!"

Chen Mo directed, staring at the rearview mirror.

"No! That's going against traffic!" Su Qingxue shouted.

"Going with traffic is a dead end!"

Su Qingxue gritted her teeth and sharply turned the steering wheel.

The car performed an extreme drift at the intersection, then sped up the elevated road ramp against the flow of traffic.

Oncoming headlights were like a flowing river of light.

Horns blared and brakes screeched in a cacophony.

Su Qingxue's eyes changed.

The focus and madness of a police academy valedictorian returned to her gaze.

She weaved through the dense traffic, like dancing on a knife's edge.

"Excellent."

Professor Qin's voice sounded again, with a perverse appreciation.

"This is human potential under extreme conditions. Qingxue, maintain this heart rate. Your adrenaline secretion level is perfect right now."

"Shut your stinking mouth!"

Su Qingxue roared, sharply turning the steering wheel, and the car grazed the front of a large truck as it slid past.

The leading SUV, unable to dodge in time, crashed into the side of the truck.

Boom!

Flames shot skyward.

"Nice," Chen Mo whistled. "But don't get too happy too soon. Since this old man can talk remotely, he can do other things."

No sooner had he spoken.

The Porsche's central control screen suddenly went black.

Immediately after, a red skull icon lit up.

The ambient lighting in the car instantly turned glaring crimson.

The steering wheel suddenly locked.

The electronic throttle failed.

The car, which had been speeding along, seemed to hit an invisible wall; the automatic braking system activated, and the tires dragged four long black marks on the ground.

"What's going on?!" Su Qingxue desperately tried to turn the steering wheel, but it wouldn't budge.

"It's the Internet of Vehicles!" Li Ke screamed from the back seat. "This car's system is connected to the smart city network! Professor Qin has obtained the highest authorization, and he's taking over this car!"

"Qingxue."

Professor Qin's voice turned cold, imbued with the authority of a judge.

"Since you are unwilling to cooperate with the experiment, then be destroyed as a failed product."

"Ahead is a broken bridge."

Chen Mo looked forward.

This section of the elevated bridge was still under construction, a large chunk of the guardrail was missing, and below was the surging river.

The car was accelerating towards that gap.

The autonomous driving system not only locked the steering but also floored the accelerator.

"The brakes are failing!" Su Qingxue cried out, the pedal under her foot as hard as a rock.

Five hundred meters to the gap.

Four hundred meters.

Three hundred meters.

"Li Ke! Hack in!" Chen Mo unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned forward.

"No time! This system's encryption layer is too thick! It'll take at least three minutes!" Li Ke shouted in despair.

"Then use physical cracking."

Chen Mo pulled the surgical scissors from his leather boot.

"Get down!"

He roared at Su Qingxue, then lunged at the center console.

The sharp surgical scissors, carrying all of Chen Mo's strength, plunged fiercely into the center of the central control screen.

Zzzzt—

Sparks flew.

The screen shattered, and black smoke billowed from the circuit board inside.

But the car speed did not decrease.

"No! This is just the display! The control unit is below!" Li Ke shouted.

Chen Mo spat out bloody saliva.

He threw away the scissors and raised his plaster-covered fist, smashing it repeatedly against the protective panel below the steering wheel.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The plastic panel shattered.

Revealing the colorful wire harnesses inside.

"Which one?" Chen Mo asked.

"Huh? Wh... which one?"

"Which wire can stop the car! Hurry up and tell me! Otherwise, we're all going to hell together!"

"Red... No! The yellow one! The one with black stripes! That's the busbar!" Li Ke roared, leaning over the seat back.

Ahead was the broken bridge.

The roar of the river was already audible.

Chen Mo grabbed the yellow and black striped wire and pulled hard.

It held firm.

Too tough.

This was a luxury car worth millions; the wire harness contained anti-cut fibers.

"Break, damn it!"

Chen Mo roared, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as if they would burst.

He felt his fingernails were about to flip up, but he wouldn't let go.

Snap.

The wire harness broke.

The engine instantly died.

All electronic assistance systems went offline.

The car body violently shook, losing power, but the immense inertia still carried the car forward.

"Pull the handbrake!"

Chen Mo shouted.

This car had an electronic handbrake, which was useless by now.

Su Qingxue reacted extremely quickly; she forcibly slammed the gear into reverse.

Screech—!!!

The transmission let out a heartbreaking shriek, the sound of gears shattering like chewing steel.

The wheels locked up.

The Porsche slid sideways, its rear crashing heavily into the concrete barrier at the edge of the broken bridge.

Bang!

The airbags deployed.

White dust filled the car interior.

The front of the car was suspended, half of its body swaying outside the bridge.

Below was an abyss dozens of meters deep.

A deathly silence.

Cough, cough, cough.

Chen Mo waved away the dust in front of him and pushed aside the deflated airbag.

He glanced at Su Qingxue beside him.

She was slumped over the steering wheel, her forehead cut open, blood trickling down her cheek, but her chest was still rising and falling.

Li Ke in the back seat was squeezed between the server rack and the seat, making groaning sounds.

As for the server rack... it was still glowing green, completely intact.

Professor Qin's voice sounded again, with a hint of regret and a touch of mockery.

"Luck is also part of strength. Chen Mo, you always surprise me."

Chen Mo unbuckled his seatbelt and kicked open the car door.

Cold wind rushed in.

He forcibly pried out a chip from the still-smoking center console—it was the car's communication module.

The voice from the speaker abruptly stopped.

The world was finally quiet.
