330: Chapter 330 Double Kill in 3 Seconds!
Chapter 330: Double Kill in 3 Seconds!
Chen Mo walked along the edge of the alley.
He lowered his head, searching the ground for an iron cover.
At this position, he was only two hundred meters from the checkpoint.
The maintenance hatch for Sewage Pipe No. 35 was nearby.
He walked over to a trash can.
Kicking aside a pile of cardboard boxes,
A rusted circular manhole cover appeared on the ground.
A municipal ID was engraved on it.
35-A.
Chen Mo crouched down.
His right hand gripped the hole at the edge of the manhole cover.
He exerted force.
The manhole cover didn't budge an inch.
It was stuck fast by rust.
He stood up.
He took a crowbar off his tactical vest.
Inserting it into the gap,
He pressed down using the principle of leverage.
The harsh sound of metal friction echoed in the alley.
The manhole cover was pried open just a crack.
A strong smell of biogas mixed with a putrid stench rushed out.
Chen Mo held his breath.
He pushed the manhole cover aside.
Below was a bottomless vertical shaft.
A metal ladder was fixed to the wall,
covered in green moss.
Chen Mo turned around.
He gestured toward the armored vehicle.
The car door opened.
Jiang Hong walked over with her gun slung over her back.
404 followed behind, holding the fish tank.
The fat man stumbled along.
"It stinks too much," 404 said, covering his nose.
"It's cleaner than your lab," Jiang Hong said as she stepped onto the ladder.
She quickly climbed down.
Chen Mo stood at the mouth of the shaft.
He watched 404 hang the fish tank on the strap across his chest.
The fat man used both hands and feet to slowly climb down.
Chen Mo was calculating.
After entering the pipe,
there was still a distance of five hundred meters to the first basement level of the Armory.
They would pass through three sluice gates in between.
There would be infrared alarms at the sluice gates.
They would need the Old Blind Man to connect to the circuits and disable the alarms.
Chen Mo grabbed the top of the ladder.
His right hand bore the weight of his entire body.
He slowly slid down.
His feet stepped onto the rusted iron rungs.
The darkness below swallowed them up.
The inside of the pipe was exceptionally damp.
The beam of the searchlight swayed in the darkness.
Mutated black leeches crawled all over the walls.
Sewage reached above their ankles.
Their soles stepped into the sludge,
making squelching sounds.
Jiang Hong walked at the very front,
holding a tactical flashlight.
The light illuminated the corner ahead.
"The water flow direction is wrong," Jiang Hong stopped.
She crouched down.
Looking at the floating debris on the water's surface,
discarded syringes and plastic packaging bags were flowing backward.
"There's a water pump working ahead," Jiang Hong stood up.
Chen Mo leaned against the damp wall.
He closed his eyes.
His hearing extended forward.
A hundred meters away,
there was the roar of machinery operating,
accompanied by the heartbeats of two people.
The heart rates were steady,
sixty-five beats per minute.
They were not in a state of alert.
"Two guards," Chen Mo opened his eyes.
"Armed."
He pointed in the direction.
"In the sluice gate control room ahead."
404 hid behind Chen Mo.
"We haven't even reached the Armory's perimeter and there are already sentries?" The fat man lowered his voice.
"Oracle Technology's security standards have increased," the Old Blind Man spoke from within the fish tank.
"Last night's explosion has made them jumpy."
Jiang Hong pulled out the revolver from her waist.
"I'll go deal with it," Jiang Hong said.
She started to move.
Chen Mo reached out his right hand,
stopping her.
"There are vibration sensors in the water," Chen Mo pointed at the water's surface.
The searchlight's beam shone on the waterline on the wall.
An extremely thin metal wire was attached to the pipe wall,
connected to the underwater sensors.
"If you step through the water, the control room will alarm immediately." Chen Mo withdrew his hand.
Jiang Hong looked at that metal wire
and put away her revolver.
"Then what do we do?" she asked.
Chen Mo looked up
at the ventilation duct at the top of the pipe.
It was about forty centimeters in diameter
and covered in dust.
"I'll go through the top," Chen Mo pointed upward.
He walked to the wall.
His right foot stepped on a protrusion at the pipe joint.
His left leg exerted force,
and his body leaped upward.
His right hand grabbed the edge of the ventilation duct,
hanging in mid-air with a single arm.
More blood seeped from his wound,
dripping down the hem of his trench coat
and falling into the sewage,
where it dispersed.
The muscles in Chen Mo's arm bulged.
He did a pull-up,
poking his head into the entrance of the ventilation duct.
His shoulders were wedged between the metal pipe walls.
Using his knees and right hand in coordination,
he crawled through the pipe like a worm.
The sheet metal made slight deformation sounds.
A faint light appeared ahead.
It was the louvers of the control room.
Chen Mo crawled above the window.
He looked down through the gaps.
The room's area was about ten square meters.
Two guards in black uniforms sat in front of monitoring screens.
Two submachine guns lay on the desk.
The guard on the left was smoking,
smoke curling around him.
The guard on the right was fiddling with a communicator.
Chen Mo's right hand gripped the edge of the louver.
Chen Mo exerted force with his right hand.
The screws of the louver were rusted.
The metal blades were forcibly torn off,
making a sharp snapping sound.
Both guards looked up at the same time.
The cigarette fell from the left guard's mouth.
Chen Mo's body dropped from the vent.
His right hand formed a fist.
Borrowing the gravity of the fall,
his fist smashed into the carotid artery of the guard on the right.
The sound of bone shattering rang out.
The guard's head tilted to one side at an unnatural angle.
His body collapsed onto the control console,
pressing down on several red buttons.
The guard on the left reacted,
reaching for the submachine gun on the desk.
Chen Mo landed,
bending his knees to cushion the impact.
His right hand pulled out the tactical dagger from his waist.
He swung it backhand.
The blade sliced through the guard's wrist.
Blood surged,
splattering onto the monitoring screens.
The guard let out a scream.
Chen Mo stepped forward with the momentum,
driving his knee into the opponent's abdomen.
The dagger stabbed into the left chest,
then was pulled out.
The guard slumped to the ground,
twitching twice
before losing all movement.
The entire process took no more than three seconds.
Chen Mo straightened up.
He flicked the blood off the dagger
and returned it to its sheath.
He walked to the control console
and pressed the door release button.
A green light turned on.
The iron door of the control room slid open to both sides.
Jiang Hong walked in with her gun ready.
Her soles left wet prints on the dry floor.
404 followed behind, holding the fish tank.
The fat man looked at the two corpses on the ground
and swallowed hard.
"Cleanly handled," Jiang Hong glanced at Chen Mo's bleeding left shoulder.
"The sluice gate alarm is disabled," Chen Mo pointed at the status bar on the screen.
The Old Blind Man swam in a circle in the water.
"There's an internal network interface here," the Old Blind Man looked under the control console.
"Fatty, plug in the data cable."
404 set down the fish tank.
He pulled out a black cable from his backpack,
connected it to the interface at the bottom of the fish tank,
and plugged the other end into the port on the console.
A progress bar jumped onto the screen.
Green code began to scroll across the screen.
"I'm bypassing their main firewall," the Old Blind Man's voice came through the speakers.
"This node's permissions aren't high."
"But I can get the architectural blueprints for the first basement level of the Armory."
Chen Mo stood in front of the screen,
watching the constantly refreshing lines.
A 3D diagram took shape.
Red areas represented high-voltage power grids.
Yellow areas represented machine gun defense positions.
The green passage was the only safe route.
Just as the diagram was generated,
the screen suddenly flickered.
A red warning box popped up.
[Illegal intrusion detected...]
[Tracing IP address...]
"Unplug it!" the Old Blind Man shouted.
404 reacted quickly,
yanking out the cable in one motion.
