235: Electric cage traps gods

Chapter 235: Trapping a God in an Electric Cage. "An opportunity."

A sharp glint flashed in Chen Mo's eyes.

He yanked the handbrake hard while simultaneously turning the steering wheel all the way.

The armored vehicle, weighing over a dozen tons, performed an extreme drift in the tunnel, sweeping through a swarm of rats. Its rear slammed hard against the side wall, forcing the front to pivot ninety degrees, aiming toward a side maintenance passage.

"Go this way!"

The passage was so narrow it could barely fit one vehicle, even scraping off the side mirrors.

The moment the vehicle charged in, the main tunnel behind them collapsed.

Countless tons of boulders fell, burying the sea of rats along with the pursuing white light.

The world went silent.

Only the heavy panting of the engine and the nauseating smell of blood in the cabin remained.

Ninth Master slumped in the passenger seat, still clutching the pipe wrench stained with brains, his chest heaving violently.

"We... we survived?"

He wiped the blood off his face, unable to tell if it was from the rats or himself.

"Not yet."

Chen Mo kicked away the rat carcass lying by his feet. "Look ahead."

The headlights illuminated the path ahead.

This was a massive underground cavity.

Rusty iron frames and abandoned turbine units were everywhere.

Densely packed cables hung from the ceiling like cobwebs, some still sizzling with electric sparks.

This was the underground heart of the Old City District—the abandoned Power Plant No. 1.

"We're here."

Chen Mo parked the car next to a massive transformer bank.

There were at least twenty of those three-story-high transformers, bearing faded skull symbols and the words "High Voltage Danger."

"Get out."

Chen Mo pulled out the car key and pushed open the door.

"Right here?" Ninth Master glanced at the eerie surroundings and shuddered. "This place looks even creepier than the tunnel just now."

"Creepy is good."

Chen Mo jumped out of the car and stepped into a puddle.

The water was black, reflecting an oily sheen.

He looked up at the massive ventilation shaft above.

Rainwater was trickling down the shaft walls; it was the only exit to the surface.

"Turn on all the transformers."

Chen Mo pointed at the rusty control gates. "Regardless of whether they still work, connect all the lines to form a closed loop."

"What are you doing?" Ninth Master was stunned. "The power here has been out for fifty years. The insulation oil in these transformers dried up long ago. You want to set off fireworks?"

"I'm going to build a cage."

Chen Mo walked to a transformer and reached out to touch its cold metal casing.

"Ruan Qiushui is an energy entity."

"In her current state, she's like a mass of high-voltage electricity without insulation. She can absorb bioelectricity and energy from the power grid. But what if the energy overloads?"

Chen Mo turned his head and looked at Ninth Master.

"Just like that pump." He pointed to his chest. "As long as the frequency is high enough and the voltage is great enough, even a god will short-circuit."

"You want to electrocute her?" Su Qingxue frowned. "This old equipment can't possibly generate that level of voltage."

"Who said I was going to use the power here?"

Chen Mo grinned, a smile that looked particularly hideous on his blood-stained face.

"I am the fuse."

"She is the explosive."

"This place is just an echo chamber."

Chen Mo took the dagger from his pocket and slashed a deep cut across his palm.

Blood dripped onto the transformer's copper busbar.

"Start working."

...Ten minutes later.

The air in the entire underground space became somewhat viscous.

Although Ninth Master was grumbling, his hands didn't stop working.

As a veteran underground hacker and mechanist, this kind of circuit modification was child's play for him.

All the transformers were connected in series.

The lines originally used for power output were now all converted into receiving ends.

At the center was a thick copper pillar used for maintenance.

Chen Mo stood right next to that copper pillar.

He took off his shirt, revealing his lean and muscular upper body.

What a sight that body was.

Scars were everywhere; the site of the comminuted fracture on his left shoulder was swollen purple, and a strange dark red glow emanated from the position of his heart, making the blood vessels clearly visible.

He was bleeding.

The blood from his wounds flowed down his body to his feet, pooling into a small puddle that happened to soak the base of the copper pillar.

"What are you doing?" Su Qingxue walked over, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

"I'm laying out bait."

Chen Mo closed his eyes, feeling the approaching pressure. "Rats like cheese; that monster likes lives. The purer and more painful the life energy, the more delicious it is to her."

"She's above us."

Chen Mo snapped his eyes open and looked up at the ventilation shaft.

The curtain of rain at the shaft opening suddenly stalled.

It wasn't that the rain had stopped.

Rather, the rainwater was being evaporated in mid-air.

A cloud of white mist slowly pressed down along the shaft walls.

There was no sound.

No footsteps.

Only a white figure, light as a feather, landed on top of the transformer array.

Ruan Qiushui.

Her qipao was in tatters, revealing large patches of fair skin.

But this didn't make her look disheveled; instead, it added a sense of broken divinity.

She was barefoot, stepping onto the rust-covered transformers.

Those white pupils stared straight at Chen Mo standing below.

"Smells so good."

She spoke.

Her voice echoed in the cavernous basement, carrying a child-like longing.

"You look... delicious."

"Is that so?"

Chen Mo smiled.

He raised his intact right hand and beckoned to Ruan Qiushui with a finger.

"Then come down and eat."

"I'm right here; I can't run anymore."

Ruan Qiushui tilted her head, seemingly contemplating if this was a trap.

But the scent of life essence radiating from Chen Mo, amplified by the heart's overload, was simply too tempting.

For her, having just awakened and in dire need of energy replenishment, it was like a top-tier steak served on a platter.

She moved.

Her figure blurred, turning into a streak of white light as she lunged at Chen Mo.

Fast.

Too fast.

So fast that Su Qingxue didn't even have time to raise her gun.

Even Chen Mo himself couldn't react.

But he didn't need to react.

The moment Ruan Qiushui's fingers touched Chen Mo's skin.

"Close the switch!"

Chen Mo roared those words with all his might.

In the corner, Ninth Master slammed down the massive main switch.

Crack!

The entire underground space jolted violently.

This, of course, wasn't turning on the power.

There was no external power source here at all.

But the moment this closed-loop circuit was connected, the Biological Pump in Chen Mo's heart acted like a depth charge thrown into the water.

Boom!

The energy pulse erupted from the pump, surging through Chen Mo's body, the copper pillar, and the blood on the ground, instantly flooding into all the transformer coils.

Simultaneously, the massive energy within Ruan Qiushui's body flooded into Chen Mo through the point of contact.

At this moment, two distinct types of energy collided through this carefully designed circuit loop.
