33: The whole city is in chaos! Detective vs. thugs!

The massive floor-to-ceiling window of the Command Center was like a black tombstone, reflecting the image of the entire city beginning to rot.

"They're crazy..."

Zhao Dahai muttered to himself, looking at the apocalyptic scene outside the window.

"They've all gone mad..."

Telephone rings, alarms, and the frantic reports of subordinates merged into a symphony of the apocalypse.

The Chief's face, under the flickering red light of the emergency lamp, resembled a plaster statue about to crack.

"Quick! Notify the SWAT team! No! The Armed Police! Request Armed Police support!"

His roar sounded so pale and powerless amidst the chaos.

"It's too late."

Chen Mo's voice rang out, not loud, but like a cold scalpel, instantly cutting through all the background noise.

In the entire Command Center, everyone's gaze subconsciously focused on the young man.

He had become the only stabilizing force in the eye of the storm.

"What 'The Emperor' wants is not Zhou Guofu's life."

Chen Mo walked up to the massive floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the crowds below, which resembled an ant colony surging toward the Financial Center from all directions.

"What he wants is to trample on all our faces."

"He wants to prove to the entire city, and the entire world, that law is worthless in the face of the torrent of 'public opinion.'"

"If we go to save him, we walk into a trap. If we don't save him, it's dereliction of duty; it's admitting defeat to him."

Zhao Dahai's fists cracked audibly, his fingernails digging deep into his flesh.

"Then what the hell are we supposed to do?!"

"Ruin his tempo."

Chen Mo turned around, a frantic flame burning in his clear eyes.

"Captain Zhao!"

"Here!"

"Mobilize every riot police unit available! Immediately blockade the three main roads leading to the Financial Center!"

"Your mission is not to disperse the crowd! It's to block them!"

"Use roadblocks, water barriers, and tear gas! Turn those three roads into three insurmountable Great Walls of flesh and blood! Block those maniacs outside and hold them there!"

The Chief's pupils contracted sharply!

"Chen Mo! Are you crazy! Using tear gas on citizens? Do you want to trigger an even bigger riot!"

"The riot has already happened!"

For the first time, Chen Mo's voice was a roar!

"What we need to do now is not act as babysitters, but as executioners! Cut off the root of the virus's spread!"

"Su Qingxue! Li Hu!"

"Present!"

"You two, follow me!"

"Where to?"

"The Financial Center!"

"Li Ke!"

"Here! Team Leader Chen!"

"Abandon the virus nest! I give you ten minutes! I need you to hijack every emergency broadcast system in Jiang City!"

"Whether it's the air raid sirens or community broadcasts! I don't care how you do it, I need my voice to reach every corner of Jiangcheng!"

Command after command, like a fierce storm, struck everyone's hearts!

Everyone was too stunned to speak by the desperate madness radiating from him.

Just then, a hoarse voice spoke up.

"I'll take a team down from the roof."

Everyone whipped their heads around.

Gao Fan had straightened up without anyone noticing.

The color hadn't returned to his face, but a hunter's sharp light had rekindled in his hollow eyes.

"The top floor of the Financial Center has a helipad."

He didn't look at Chen Mo, but stared intently at the constantly flashing red dot on the screen.

"I'll go drag him out of the sky."

Surprise appeared on the faces of the Chief and Zhao Dahai.

Chen Mo turned his head and gave him a deep look.

There was no approval, no thanks.

Only one word.

"Good."

...Five minutes later.

An inconspicuous black SUV, like a black dagger, surged against the human tide, rushing toward the steel jungle already surrounded by madness.

Li Hu floored the accelerator, the engine's roar sounding like an enraged beast.

Outside the car window was hell.

Office workers, usually dressed in suits, now had bloodshot eyes and were frantically smashing police cars on the roadside with their briefcases.

White-haired elderly people raised their canes, screaming, "Execute justice on behalf of Heaven."

Countless people merged into a black, malicious torrent, crashing against the city's final dam.

"Bang!"

A man suddenly leaped onto their hood, fiercely pounding the windshield with his fists.

"You bunch of cops! Are you going to protect that exploiter Zhou?! Are you even human!"

"Damn it!"

Li Hu slammed his fist onto the steering wheel, about to get out.

"Ignore him! Drive through!" Chen Mo's voice was cold as ice.

Li Hu gritted his teeth, stepped on the gas, and violently flung the man off!

The car was finally completely blocked about five hundred meters from the Financial Center tower.

Ahead, there was a sea of people.

"Get out!"

Chen Mo was the first to push open the car door.

Su Qingxue and Li Hu followed closely; the three of them plunged into the crowd like three sharp knives!

"Move aside!"

Li Hu was like a charging rhinoceros, forcefully carving a path through the crowd with his body!

"Police business! Get the hell out of the way!"

His roar was instantly drowned out by even more frantic screams!

"Police? So what if you're police!"

"They're going to save that animal! Stop them!"

Countless hands reached out, grabbing their clothes and pulling their arms!

Su Qingxue's eyes turned cold, and a vicious elbow strike sent blood spurting from the nose and mouth of a man who lunged at her!

The three stood back-to-back, struggling to push forward in the vortex of the human tide.

Every meter felt as long as a century.

At the same time.

The Command Center.

Li Ke's hands blurred over the keyboard, sweat dripping from his chin onto the keys.

"Found it! Found it! The emergency broadcast subsystem! It's here!"

He let out an excited yell and slammed the Enter key!

"Team Leader Chen! I got it! I got it!"

His voice came clearly through the headset into Chen Mo's ear.

"What do you want me to say?!"

Below the Financial Center tower.

Chen Mo and the other two finally broke free from the human tide.

They looked at the shattered glass door in front of them and the rioters surging into the building like a tide.

The building had sixty-six floors.

Zhou Guofu was on the top floor.

They definitely wouldn't make it in time.

"Team Leader Chen?" Li Ke's anxious urging came through the headset.

Chen Mo raised his head, looking at the skyscraper, which resembled a Tower of Babel, his eyes devoid of any panic.

Slowly, he closed his eyes.

[Heartbeat Location (Intermediate)]

[Scanning in progress...]

On his mental radar map.

Countless frantic red dots, representing the rioters, were frantically climbing upward inside the tower.

And amidst that frantic red.

On the top floor, there was only one faint green light dot, violently pulsating with fear...

Zhou Guofu.

Thump! Thump-thump! Thump-thump-thump-thump!

That heartbeat, like the drumbeat of a dying man, pounded deep in Chen Mo's soul.

He abruptly opened his eyes.

He spoke into the headset, uttering the words that everyone found incomprehensible.

"Li Ke, don't say anything."

"What?"

"Connect his heartbeat to the emergency broadcast system."

Li Ke froze.

Su Qingxue and Li Hu were also stunned.

"I want everyone in the city to hear it."

Chen Mo's voice, like a cold wind from the netherworld, swept over everyone's eardrums.

"The 'devil' they are trying to judge..."

"How terrified, how... pitiful he is right now."

The next second.

"Thump... Thump-thump... Thump-thump-thump..."

A dull, rapid heartbeat, like a war drum, suddenly echoed throughout the entire city of Jiangcheng, transmitted without warning through every air raid siren, every community broadcast, and every mall speaker!

The sound was huge, oppressive, and filled with the most primitive fear of death!

On the streets.

The rioters who were frantically rushing toward the Financial Center suddenly stopped.

They looked up blankly, listening to the sudden, eerie heartbeat.

Inside the Financial Tower.

The rioters surging upward floor by floor also paused.

For the first time, a trace of hesitation appeared in their fanaticism.

Top floor, CEO's office.

Zhou Guofu was sprawled on the floor, listening to the increasingly close sounds of frantic pounding and screaming outside the door.

His obese body trembled like a pile of mud.

He heard the heartbeat resonating throughout the city.

He didn't know it was his own heartbeat.

He only felt it was the footsteps of... Death.

"No... don't..."

He let out a non-human wail, tears and snot streaming down his face.

"I was wrong... I was wrong... Please... spare me..."

His pleas, transmitted through the unhung emergency call phone in his office.

Clearly reached the Command Center.

And clearly reached Chen Mo's ears.

Chen Mo slowly raised his head.

His voice echoed in everyone's ears via the emergency broadcast.

"Did you all hear that?"

"This is the 'devil' you came to judge."

"He is currently kneeling on the ground like a dog, begging for mercy."

"You won."

"You used your 'justice' to trample him underfoot."

"Now, tell me."

Chen Mo's voice was like a cold knife, dissecting the soul of every rioter.

"Will tearing him to shreds bring back the homes that were forcibly demolished?"

"Will chopping him to pieces resurrect the loved ones he drove to death?"

"No."

"All you will gain is a pair of hands stained with blood, just like mine."

"You judged him."

"And then, you will become... the next him!"

"Welcome to... hell."
