339: Chapter 339 Mind Synchronization
Chen Mo stood outside the door of Ward No. 3.
He raised his left leg.
His leather boot kicked the lock position of the wooden door panel.
The door panel shattered.
The door swung inward.
Chen Mo walked into the ward.
The lights in the ward were not on.
The curtains were drawn.
Faint moonlight filtered into the room.
Su Qingxue lay on the hospital bed.
An IV tube was inserted into the back of her hand.
The IV bag hung from an iron stand.
A man wearing a black raincoat stood by the bed.
His left hand was choking Su Qingxue's neck.
His right hand held a syringe filled with a transparent liquid.
The needle tip was aimed at the vein in Su Qingxue's arm.
The man's gaze crossed the bed, looking at Chen Mo who had entered the room.
"Back off."
The man spoke.
His fingers were tightening.
Su Qingxue's breathing became rapid.
Her hands feebly clawed at the man's arm.
Chen Mo did not back down.
He took a step forward.
"Take another step and I'll inject the drug."
The man pierced Su Qingxue's skin with the syringe needle.
Beads of blood seeped out.
Chen Mo stopped in his tracks.
He looked at the man.
He calculated the distance.
Five meters.
It would take 1.5 seconds to empty the syringe.
His dash would take one second.
There was a safety margin of 0.5 seconds.
Chen Mo's left hand hung down.
His silver mechanical fingers spread open.
He pushed off the ground with his right foot.
The marble floor tile cracked.
His body turned into an afterimage.
The man was greatly alarmed.
His thumb pressed down on the syringe plunger.
Chen Mo's left hand had already arrived.
Two silver fingers precisely clamped the glass barrel of the syringe.
He exerted force.
The glass tube shattered.
Transparent liquid splashed onto the man's black raincoat.
Chen Mo clenched his right fist.
He struck the man's wrist joint.
The man released his grip on Su Qingxue's neck.
He retreated backward.
He crashed into the radiator on the windowsill.
The man pulled a folding knife from his raincoat pocket.
The blade flicked out.
He stabbed toward Chen Mo's abdomen.
Chen Mo did not dodge.
His mechanical left arm met the blade.
Metal clashed against metal.
The blade snapped.
Chen Mo seized the opportunity to grab the man's neck with his left hand.
He lifted him off the ground.
The man's legs struggled.
His hands tried to pry open that silver metal hand.
Chen Mo's fingers tightened.
The cervical vertebrae made an overburdened cracking sound.
The man's struggling stopped.
His arms hung down.
Chen Mo let go.
The corpse slid to the floor.
Su Qingxue leaned over the edge of the bed, coughing.
She gasped for air.
Chen Mo walked to the bedside.
He pulled out the IV needle from the back of Su Qingxue's hand.
He pressed down on the puncture site.
Su Qingxue looked up.
She looked at Chen Mo.
Chen Mo's black trench coat was stained with blood.
The silver Mechanical Prosthetic on his left arm was exposed to the air.
Red liquid seeped from the joints.
His actions were decisive and brutal.
He was like a completely different person from the submissive Archives Clerk at the police station.
Su Qingxue looked at the corpse on the floor.
That was a professional assassin.
Chen Mo had only taken two seconds.
She spoke while coughing.
"They cut off the surveillance on this floor."
Su Qingxue's voice was raspy.
"I know,"
Chen Mo replied.
He crouched down.
He picked up the broken folding knife from the floor.
The handle had anti-slip patterns.
This was a custom weapon.
Chen Mo activated the system.
A blue pop-up window appeared on his retina.
[500 points of sin value deducted.]
[Thought Synchronization initiated.]
Chen Mo gripped the knife handle tightly.
The surrounding scenery began to distort.
The moonlight dissipated.
He entered the assassin's memory fragments.
First-person perspective.
Chen Mo saw himself standing in front of a large mahogany desk.
A personal file on Su Qingxue was on the desk.
A hand pushed the file over.
That hand was very large.
A solid gold ring was on the index finger.
The surface of the ring was engraved with a police badge pattern.
There was a scratch on the bottom left corner of the badge.
A deep male voice sounded.
"Dispose of her."
"She investigated something she shouldn't have."
The perspective shifted.
Chen Mo saw the background wall behind the desk.
A detailed map of Jiang City hung on the wall.
In the bottom right corner of the map, there was a red thumbtack.
It was pinned at the location of the Municipal Bureau Criminal Investigation Building.
The image shattered.
Chen Mo returned to reality.
He loosened his hand.
The broken folding knife dropped to the floor.
He stood up.
That ring.
That scratch.
He had seen it before.
During a routine internal meeting at the Municipal Bureau.
That hand belonged to the Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau,
Zhou Jianguo.
The rank of the mole was even higher than he had deduced.
Su Qingxue propped herself up on the bedboard and sat up.
"What are you doing with the knife?"
She looked at Chen Mo.
Chen Mo did not explain.
"Put on your shoes."
He issued the command.
Su Qingxue found her shoes under the bed and put them on.
Her body was somewhat weak.
Chen Mo reached out and grabbed her left arm.
He pulled her up.
"We are surrounded."
Chen Mo looked out the window.
On the system radar,
fifty red dots appeared below the inpatient building.
The red dots were rapidly dispersing toward the Inpatient Department.
They had blocked all exits.
The sound of steel cables sliding came from the elevator shaft.
Someone was rappelling from the roof.
"We can't get out through the corridor."
Chen Mo pulled Su Qingxue toward the window.
He yanked down the curtains.
He pulled open the glass window.
Cold wind poured into the ward.
This was the twelfth floor.
Below were flower beds and a concrete road.
Chen Mo picked up the black briefcase.
He secured it on his back.
"Hold me tight."
He turned to face Su Qingxue.
Su Qingxue did not hesitate.
She wrapped her arms around Chen Mo's waist.
Her face was pressed against his chest.
Chen Mo grabbed the window frame with his left hand.
He pulled out a tactical dagger with his right hand.
He leaped out of the window with Su Qingxue.
Their bodies were suspended in the air.
Gravity pulled them downward.
Chen Mo exerted force with his right hand.
He plunged the dagger into the insulation layer of the wall.
The blade sliced through the wall,
slowing their descent.
They stopped at the level of the tenth-floor window.
Chen Mo smashed the tenth-floor glass window with his left fist.
He swung into the room holding Su Qingxue.
The two of them rolled twice on the floor,
dissipating the impact force.
This was an empty storage room.
Wheelchairs and medical equipment were stored here.
Dense footsteps came from outside the door.
Personnel were moving in the stairwell.
Chen Mo stood up.
He pulled Su Qingxue behind a row of iron cabinets.
"Stay here."
He pressed the communicator on his collar.
"Jiang Hong. Tenth floor. Outside the storage room."
Static came from the communicator.
"Copy that."
Jiang Hong's voice was very cold.
The door to the storage room was pushed open.
Two tactical flashlight beams swept into the room.
Two fully armed assault team members walked in.
Their muzzles searched all directions.
The beams swept across the iron cabinet where Chen Mo was hiding.
Chen Mo did not move.
His breathing frequency dropped to fifteen times per minute.
The first team member walked toward the iron cabinet.
He raised his pistol,
preparing to round the corner.
Chen Mo suddenly lunged out from the shadows.
His silver mechanical left arm grabbed the other's gun barrel.
He snapped it upward with force.
The gun barrel bent.
The dagger in his right hand sliced open the other's throat in one smooth motion.
Blood sprayed out.
The second team member immediately pulled the trigger.
Bullets hit the wall behind Chen Mo.
Chen Mo grabbed the first corpse to use as a shield.
He charged forward against the fire.
He crashed into the second team member,
knocking him to the floor.
His knee struck the other's chest heavily.
The sound of breaking ribs rang out.
Chen Mo finished him with a stab.
Both were dead.
More assault team members in the corridor heard the gunshots.
They swarmed toward the storage room.
Chen Mo walked out of the storage room.
He stood in the center of the corridor,
facing a dozen Men in Black rushing from the end of the hallway.
He raised his left hand.
An Energy Shield unfolded.
