177: Chapter 178 The Invisible Director
Over here, Jiang Jing and the young women were in the costume room, picking out sets that suited them.
All kinds of period costumes were on display, dazzling to the eye, ranging from coarse linen garments to silks and satins, and from soldiers' armor to imperial robes; everything was available.
Director Zhang was on the side, introducing them enthusiastically: "President Jiang, rest assured, these costumes are cleaned and disinfected regularly. They are absolutely clean. Which set do you like? Feel free to try any of them on!"
Da Mimi, Tong Liya, and Nazha had already excitedly started weaving through the clothing racks, picking out those gorgeous and exquisite women's costumes, thinking that it would certainly be fun to change into them later and take some ancient-style photos with Jiang Jing.
Leng Ba's big eyes rolled around, but she didn't join the selection process. Instead, she quietly took a few steps back, and while everyone's attention was on Jiang Jing and the clothes, she slipped into the changing area nearby.
Jiang Jing's gaze swept over the rows of costumes. He had no interest in those flashy, complicated prince or emperor outfits, finding the simple, clean scholar's robes or martial artist's attire more pleasing to the eye.
Finally, he pointed to a moon-white robe made of nice material with a very common style: "Let's go with this one. Keep it simple."
"President Jiang, you have a great eye! Wearing this will make you look refined and dashing!" The director immediately buttered him up, then personally stepped in to enthusiastically help Jiang Jing put it on.
While dressing him, the director also explained in detail the order of putting on ancient costumes, how to tie the belt, and so on.
The young women also picked out their favorite costumes and ran off to change.
Although it was Jiang Jing's first time wearing one, with the director's help, he was soon dressed neatly.
After tightening his sash and adjusting his wide cuffs, Jiang Jing turned around, wanting to see how the others were doing.
As soon as he turned around, his gaze was fixed in place.
He saw that Leng Ba had already changed into a goose-yellow chest-high ru-skirt at some point, standing prettily not far away, looking at him with a smile.
The hem of the ancient costume outlined her slender waist, and the wide cuffs made her arms look like jade. The layered skirt made her look elegant and spirited.
She had a simple bun on her head, adorned with a beaded hairpin that swayed. A few strands of hair hung by her cheeks. Her bright, moving face, set off by the ancient costume, had less of a modern, fashionable feel but more of a classical gentleness and liveliness.
It was as if a lady had stepped out of an ancient painting, exuding a completely different, fresh aura.
A look of undisguised admiration flashed in Jiang Jing's eyes.
He hadn't expected that Leng Ba, who usually looked silly, straightforward, and lively, could look so good in an ancient costume. It was a charm with a huge contrast.
And Leng Ba was stunned at this moment too.
Jiang Jing was just wearing the simplest moon-white robe, without any complicated patterns.
But because he had a tall and straight figure, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and his temperament carried a natural air of uninhibited freedom, this simplest attire worn on him instead gave off an indescribable sense of refreshing handsomeness.
It was as if he was meant to be that dashing young master who indulged in mountains and rivers, laughing at the world, or that scholarly, gentle-as-jade youth from a noble family.
He was simply the male lead who had walked out of a novel!
"Brother Jiang Jing! You look so good wearing this!" Leng Ba came back to her senses, trotted over to Jiang Jing, tilted her little face up, her eyes full of stars.
Her little mouth started praising as if it had been smeared with honey: "You're simply a noble young master who walked out of ancient times! No, no, no, you're a hermit master! Wow! This temperament is absolutely amazing!"
Jiang Jing was amused by her exaggerated flattery and flicked her forehead with his finger: "You sure have a sweet mouth."
Leng Ba chuckled, a bright idea flashing in her little head. She immediately took out her phone and grabbed Jiang Jing's arm: "Quick, quick, quick! While they haven't come out yet, let's take a few photos together, just the two of us, an ancient-style CP!"
Seeing her so enthusiastic, Jiang Jing let her have her way and stood still, cooperating.
Leng Ba adjusted the angle and found the right lighting. Sometimes she had Jiang Jing put his arm around her waist, sometimes she leaned on his shoulder, striking various ancient-style poses, some affectionate, some funny.
"Click, click," they took photos happily, her little face full of pride and satisfaction.
And that Director Zhang, very tactfully, retreated to the corner at this moment, looking at his nose and heart, trying his best to lower his presence, as if he had practiced an invisibility skill, becoming a transparent background board.
Just as Leng Ba was hugging Jiang Jing's arm, happily admiring the newly taken "ancient-style couple photos," the curtain of the changing area was lifted again.
Da Mimi, Tong Liya, Nazha, Zhu Xudan, and Li Xibing walked out one after another.
In an instant, the entire costume room seemed to light up!
Da Mimi chose a gorgeous and graceful palace gown, embroidered with gold thread and adorned with pearls and emeralds, making her look like a queen with a full aura, carrying an air of authority in every glance.
Tong Liya was in a simple and elegant white gauze dress, her sleeves fluttering. Her temperament was cold and otherworldly, like a fairy who didn't eat the food of mortals, or a saintess of a sect living in seclusion in the deep mountains.
Nazha was dressed like a bright and lively exotic little princess, her colorful dress paired with small leather armor, carrying a bit of wilfulness and liveliness.
Zhu Xudan and Li Xibing chose neater martial artist outfits, one heroic, one playful; they really looked like junior sisters who had just entered the martial arts world and were traveling together.
The five women had different styles, but were equally dazzling, as if they had truly stepped out of different stories.
And when their gazes landed on Jiang Jing, they all paused in unison, looks of admiration flashing in their eyes.
That simple moon-white robe, worn on him, actually had an indescribable dashing handsomeness; it was as if he was born to be such a handsome man in ancient costumes.
However, this admiration instantly turned into an "accusation" when they saw Leng Ba, who was clinging closely to Jiang Jing with a smug, show-off look on her face!
"Wow! Leng Ba! You are so cunning!" Nazha was the first to call out, pointing at Leng Ba, "You actually snuck over to monopolize Brother Jiang Jing for photos while we were changing! That's too despicable!"
"Exactly! We agreed to experience it together, and you're hogging it all for yourself!" Zhu Xudan chimed in, puffing out her cheeks.
Da Mimi crossed her arms over her chest, full of queenly air: "Classmate Leng Ba, that's not very nice of you, is it?"
Leng Ba was attacked from all sides, sullenly pouting, but she still tactfully let go of Jiang Jing's arm, muttering softly: "What's the big deal with taking two photos... It's not like you'll lose a piece of flesh..."
Thus, a new round of the "photo war" began.
The young women took turns, pulling Jiang Jing for all sorts of photos.
Whether dignified, playful, or domineering, they all wanted to leave behind the most perfect moments with this "ancient noble young master" in front of the lens.
Surrounded by several stunning beauties, Jiang Jing enjoyed the treatment of being "the moon surrounded by stars."
When it was Tong Liya's turn, she stood gently by Jiang Jing's side, striking a classic leaning pose.
Just as Mimi was about to press the shutter, her slender fingers, which seemed to be resting casually on the back of Jiang Jing's hand, scratched the back of his hand very secretly.
Jiang Jing's body stiffened slightly, and he instantly understood the message behind this secret action.
He looked down at the seemingly dignified and holy "fairy" beside him, and a playful smile curled up on his lips involuntarily.
This woman is really... cold on the outside, but fiery on the inside.
After finishing the round, everyone put away their phones with satisfaction, only then remembering that someone seemed to be missing.
"Huh? Where's Director Zhang?" Leng Ba looked around.
"That's right, didn't he say he'd take Brother Jiang Jing to experience wire-flying?" Nazha also remembered.
Jiang Jing also realized: "Oh right, almost forgot the main business. Where is Director Zhang?"
As soon as the words fell, Director Zhang, as if timing it perfectly, popped out from some corner with a "whoosh."
His face was filled with a just-right smile: "I'm here, I'm here! My stomach was a bit uncomfortable just now, so I went to the restroom. Sorry to keep everyone waiting!"
"Since everyone is ready, shall we go to the wire-flying area now? I'll take President Jiang to properly experience the feeling of flying!" Director Zhang enthusiastically led the way.
The young women followed, ready to watch the fun, and by the way... to see another side of Jiang Jing's demeanor.
