Chapter 339 If there's danger this time, would you still go?
Seeing the look of confidence on Jiang Jing's face, the two women couldn't help but feel their worries subside slightly.
Since Jiang Jing was so insistent and seemed to hold some unknown trump cards, as his bodyguards, they really weren't in a position to object further.
After all, their duty was to protect his safety, not to restrict his freedom.
Moreover, looking at international conventions and unspoken rules, no country dared to openly kidnap such an important, national-treasure-level scientific researcher from another nation.
Even the USA, which operated with the most arrogance, usually resorted only to bribery or subversion when dealing with scientists of this caliber.
To resort to kidnapping would be akin to digging their own grave; which foreign talent would ever dare to visit for exchanges in the future?
Furthermore, the members of their security team were certainly no mere ornaments or figureheads.
Even with their capabilities restricted abroad, they were confident in their ability to handle most emergencies.
Having reasoned this out, although Zhou Wanqin and Lin Hong still felt the trip carried risks, they no longer tried to dissuade him.
Jiang Jing smiled with satisfaction. "That's right. Rest assured, just treat it as a trip to relax."
After pacifying the two dutiful security team leaders, Jiang Jing smiled, took out his phone, found the saved number, and dialed the phone number of the Third Young Master of Yixing Group, Lee Hyun-ki.
The call was connected quickly, and Lee Hyun-ki's enthusiastic voice came through.
Yet, behind that laughter, there seemed to be a hint of barely perceptible urgency. "Mr. Jiang Jing? This is rare. What brings you to call me personally?"
Jiang Jing spoke in a relaxed tone, as if they were old friends. "Young Master Li, nothing major. I just plan to visit South Korea tomorrow for some fun and to handle some private business."
"My private jet will be landing then, so I'll have to trouble you, Young Master Li, to help arrange the entry and docking procedures."
Upon hearing this, Lee Hyun-ki, on the other end of the line, was instantly ecstatic.
Jiang Jing had actually taken the initiative to come to South Korea; this was definitive proof that Lee Ji-yeon's plan had succeeded!
He forced down his inner excitement, his voice becoming even more passionate, perhaps even a bit too eager.
"Oh! Mr. Jiang Jing, you are more than welcome to visit South Korea."
"Rest assured, leave all the procedures to me. I'll make sure everything is handled perfectly."
"I guarantee that from the moment you step onto South Korean soil, you will have a perfect, comfortable, and unforgettable experience!"
"I will personally arrange the best reception for you!"
He could practically see the technology his group dreamed of beckoning to him, and the excitement in his voice was nearly overflowing.
Listening to the undisguised "enthusiasm" on the other end, Jiang Jing curled his lips into a meaningful smile. After exchanging a few more formulaic pleasantries, he hung up.
Putting down the phone, the smile on Jiang Jing's face became even more playful and mysterious.
Now that the bait had been set, he was voluntarily swimming into the net laid by the other party.
Next, it was just a matter of seeing what kind of reception this Third Young Master Li and Yixing Group could come up with.
Hopefully, this trip to South Korea would be interesting enough; it would be a shame if it disappointed him.
...
The private jet cruised steadily at an altitude of ten thousand meters, with a vast, endless sea of clouds visible outside the porthole.
Inside the cabin, however, the atmosphere was somewhat subtle.
Lee Ji-yeon sat by the window, her gaze fixed blankly on the clouds passing by outside, but her eyes lacked focus; she was clearly absent-minded.
Logically, having successfully "lured" Jiang Jing to South Korea and achieved a critical breakthrough in her mission, she should have felt excited and relieved.
However, her heart was occupied by an indescribable sense of conflict and heaviness, and she felt absolutely no joy at her success.
Jiang Jing sat on the luxury seat opposite her, seemingly resting with his eyes closed, but in reality, he was observing every subtle expression and gesture of Lee Ji-yeon.
Seeing her lost in thought with her brows slightly furrowed, the corners of Jiang Jing's mouth curled upward.
He opened his eyes, beckoned to Lee Ji-yeon, and said in a gentle tone, "Ji-yeon, come here."
Hearing this, Lee Ji-yeon snapped out of her daze and looked at Jiang Jing, somewhat bewildered.
According to her original plan, she should have maintained a certain sense of distance, playing hard to get, and slowly keeping Jiang Jing on the hook.
She should have been displaying a troubled expression, as if worried about her family.
But for some reason, looking into Jiang Jing's deep eyes, her body seemed to have a will of its own; she stood up involuntarily and walked obediently over to him.
Jiang Jing patted his firm thigh, signaling her to sit down.
Lee Ji-yeon's cheeks flushed slightly, and after a moment's hesitation, she obediently sat sideways on his lap.
Immediately, a wave of warmth washed over her, inexplicably making her feel at ease.
Jiang Jing's arm wrapped naturally around her slender waist, holding her steadily in his embrace.
Feeling the firmness and warmth of the beauty in his arms, and with the faint scent of her perfume lingering in his nose, Jiang Jing felt a surge of satisfaction.
He lowered his head, leaned close to Lee Ji-yeon's ear, and said in a low voice, "What's wrong? You've looked troubled since just a moment ago."
"Are you worried about your sister? Or… is there something else on your mind?"
Held in Jiang Jing's arms, Lee Ji-yeon felt an unprecedented sense of security welling up within her.
The embrace of this man, who was supposed to be her target, felt at this moment like the safest harbor in the world.
It made her involuntarily relax her tense nerves, and all those chaotic, complicated thoughts seemed to drift away for the moment.
She even found herself craving this warmth and scent.
In this state of half-daze, half-relaxation, she whispered almost subconsciously, "Oppa… if… if you encounter danger when you go back with me this time… will you… will you still go?"
As the words left her lips, Lee Ji-yeon suddenly snapped back to reality!
What was she doing?!
Wasn't this just a roundabout way of warning Jiang Jing about the dangers of this trip?
She panicked instantly, her eyes darting around as she hurriedly tried to explain,
"No… that's not it! What I meant was… I just meant that South Korea might… might not have public security as good as the Dragon Country, so I was worried… worried…"
She was incoherent, making things worse with every word, her excuses full of holes.
However, Jiang Jing seemed completely oblivious to the abnormality in her words; instead, he tightened his arm around her waist.
He used his other hand to gently cup her cheek, forcing her to meet his gaze.
His eyes were deep, filled with [deep affection], as he said in a firm tone,
"Silly girl, what are you saying?"
He stroked her smooth cheek, saying clearly, word by word,
"No matter what dangers lie ahead, if it's for you, I'm willing to go."
"As long as I can help you and keep you safe, I'll brave any mountain of blades or sea of fire."
