32: Chapter 32 The Bar, Old Classmates
Jiang Jing spent some time cuddling with Xinxin and Li Xue before opening his phone to dive into a game.
Before long, Jiang Jing's angry roar echoed through the room: "Are you a pig? Are you in such a rush to feed the enemy?!"
"I could scatter a handful of rice on my phone for a chicken to eat, and the chicken's movement would still be better than yours!"
"What?! You're blaming me?!"
"WTF XXXXXX..."
It was fortunate that the room had excellent soundproofing, or else people would have mistaken it for a student dormitory.
Seeing that it was about time, Jiang Jing tidied himself up and headed out.
Before leaving, he told Jiang Yan that he wouldn't be back for dinner and that she should just eat on her own.
Jiang Yan nodded to show she understood.
The Ferrari slowly drove out of the estate, heading toward the famous "Night Never Ends" bar in the university town.
This bar was one of the benchmarks for high-end nightlife in Rong City, with prices that would deter ordinary students, but to Jiang Jing now, it was merely a drop in the ocean.
The entrance of the bar was packed with various luxury cars, ranging from Porsche to Maseratis.
Jiang Jing's Ferrari didn't stand out among them, which was exactly what he wanted—the lamborghini he drove today was already flashy enough, and tonight he just wanted a quiet reunion.
"Sir, do you have a reservation?" the security guard at the door asked respectfully.
"A private room booked by Wang Hao."
"Oh! You must be Mr. Jiang, right?" The guard's attitude immediately became even more enthusiastic. "Mr. Wang specifically gave instructions. Please follow me; your friends are already waiting for you."
Following the guard through the noisy lobby, Jiang Jing arrived at a VIP room on the second floor. Pushing open the door, he was greeted by the familiar sounds of laughter and the scent of alcohol.
"Jiang Jing! You finally made it!" Wang Hao was the first to rush over, giving him a solid hug. "Guys, look who's here!"
There were five or six people sitting in the private room, and Jiang Jing recognized these former classmates at a glance—
The class monitor Chen Zhiqiang, who had put on some weight; the study committee member Li Ming, who was still as thin as a bamboo pole; and the class beauty Lin Xiaoyu...
What surprised him most was seeing his high school deskmate, Zhang Shuo, the buddy who used to climb walls with him to skip class and play games.
"Holy crap! Brother Jing!" Zhang Shuo lunged forward in one stride and tapped his fist lightly against Jiang Jing's chest. "You kid, you got rich and didn't even say a word! If Haozi hadn't filmed your Veneno during his livestream today, we would still be in the dark!"
"Exactly!" Chen Zhiqiang also chimed in. "We were brothers eating instant noodles together back then, and now you're driving a supercar worth over 50 million; that's not cool!"
Facing the teasing from his old classmates, Jiang Jing felt a rare warmth.
These people had truly seen him at his lowest point—wearing a faded school uniform, eating only the cheapest cafeteria meal for lunch, and having to budget carefully even for reference books.
"Sorry, I've really been too busy lately," Jiang Jing said sincerely. "It's my treat tonight; let's all drink until we drop!"
"Generous!" everyone cheered.
The private room quickly became lively again. The waiter brought top-tier champagne and whiskey, along with various exquisite snacks. Jiang Jing was seated in the center, with Wang Hao and Zhang Shuo on either side, effectively becoming the focus of the gathering.
"Seriously, Brother Jing, what business are you in now?" After a few drinks, Zhang Shuo couldn't help but ask. "I remember you studied computer science in college, right? How did you suddenly get so loaded?"
Everyone's eyes were fixed on Jiang Jing, clearly full of curiosity about the answer to this question.
Jiang Jing had already prepared his excuse: "I do some cryptocurrency and equity investment; I got lucky and caught a few market trends." He raised his glass nonchalantly. "Mostly, I had help from some influential people."
"Awesome!" Wang Hao gave a thumbs up. "I knew you weren't ordinary! Back then, you were the best at math in the whole class; you must be like a fish in water when it comes to investing!"
Indeed, Jiang Jing was quite good at math, physics, and chemistry, but his liberal arts skills were another story.
"By the way, do you remember Wang Peng?" Chen Zhiqiang suddenly asked. "The one from high school who was always bragging about his family connections."
Jiang Jing's brow twitched. "I remember. What about him?"
"That bastard is so full of himself now. He's some minor manager at an internet company and spends all day showing off in the classmates' group chat." Chen Zhiqiang curled his lip. "Last week, he even posted a photo of a BMW 5 Series, saying something like, 'Finally saying goodbye to the days of cramming onto the subway.' It's sickening."
Jiang Jing was speechless.
Wang Peng was just that kind of person. Even back in school, he loved to show off, talking about how much this pair of sneakers cost, how much those glasses cost, and he wouldn't stop until he elicited exclamations from others.
"Let's not talk about such buzzkills." Lin Xiaoyu raised her glass. "Come on, cheers to our reunion!"
"Cheers!"
Under the influence of alcohol, the atmosphere in the private room became increasingly lively.
Everyone started chatting about embarrassing moments from high school—who put glue on the homeroom teacher's chair, who fell flat on their face during the sports meet, who had a crush on whom but didn't dare to confess...
Those youthful memories made Jiang Jing feel as if he had drifted back to his carefree student days.
"Remember? That time in senior year when you and Zhang Shuo climbed over the wall to go to an internet cafe, and ended up getting caught red-handed by the dean of students!" Wang Hao slapped his thigh and laughed.
"How could I forget!" Zhang Shuo picked up the story. "Brother Jing vaulted back over in one stride, leaving me shivering on the wall all by myself!"
"And then what happened?" Lin Xiaoyu asked curiously.
"Then I got a demerit!" Zhang Shuo pointed at Jiang Jing, pretending to be indignant. "And this guy was actually held up as the 'model student representative' who caught me the next day!"
Everyone burst into laughter. Jiang Jing couldn't help but laugh too; that memory was truly ridiculous.
Back then, to save on internet fees, he often helped the internet cafe owner fix computers in exchange for free time, which helped him hone a great set of technical skills.
Just as the atmosphere reached its peak, a harsh ringtone interrupted everyone's laughter. It was Wang Hao's phone.
"Hello? Ah... yes, we're here... What?" Wang Hao's expression suddenly turned strange. "Wait, isn't that a bit inappropriate..."
After hanging up, Wang Hao looked at Jiang Jing, looking troubled: "Um... Wang Peng somehow heard that we're having a gathering here and insists on coming over..."
The private room went quiet instantly. Everyone knew that Wang Peng and Jiang Jing didn't get along in high school, so him suddenly wanting to come was clearly aimed at Jiang Jing.
"Let him come," Jiang Jing said calmly, taking a sip of his drink. "We're old classmates, after all; it'll be good to catch up."
Wang Peng loved to show off, and because Jiang Jing was an orphan, he became Wang Peng's favorite target to show off to.
Every few days, he would corner Jiang Jing and spit everywhere while bragging, and Jiang Jing found him incredibly annoying.
Less than ten minutes later, the door to the private room was pushed open.
A young man in a sharp suit strode in, followed by two young women dressed in flamboyant attire.
"Yo! Everyone's here!" The young man scanned the room, his gaze finally landing on Jiang Jing, pausing noticeably. "I heard our class's 'little nobody' made an appearance today, so I came to take a look!"
His tone carried a clear provocation, and the atmosphere in the private room instantly dropped to freezing point.
