28: Chapter 28 A Day Trip to Rongcheng University

Xinxin curled up in Jiang Jing's arms, her small hands clutching the front of his pajamas tightly, as if she were afraid he would vanish if she let go.

Jiang Jing had long since woken up and was using his fingertips to gently twirl the strands of her hair scattered across the pillow, enjoying this rare moment of tranquility.

"Mm... what time is it?" Xinxin opened her eyes groggily, her long eyelashes casting tiny shadows on her cheeks.

"Just past eight." Jiang Jing kissed her forehead. "Want to sleep a bit more?"

Xinxin suddenly seemed to remember something and sat up abruptly. "Ah! I have to go home today!" She grabbed the phone from the nightstand; the screen showed over a dozen unread messages and three missed calls, all from "Mom."

Watching her panic, Jiang Jing couldn't help but chuckle. "Don't rush, call them back first."

Xinxin bit her lower lip and dialed the number, her voice immediately turning soft and sweet. "Mom... I'm fine... I'm at a classmate's house... Yes, the one I told you about last time, Xiaomei... Mm-hmm, I'll definitely be back today..."

After hanging up, she collapsed back onto the bed like a deflated balloon. "It's over, it's over. My mom said if she doesn't see me soon, she's going to call the police..."

Jiang Jing lay on his side, propping his head up to look at her. "Your family doesn't know you came to see me?"

"Of course they don't!" Xinxin's eyes widened. "I told my mom I was staying at a female classmate's place for a few days... If she knew I ran off alone to meet an internet friend, and... and..." Her face suddenly flushed bright red, and she couldn't continue.

Jiang Jing nodded in understanding.

Although online dating was common in this era, for a girl who had just graduated from high school, going alone to meet a strange man and spending the night at his place was certainly not something she could confess to her parents.

"I'll have Jiang Yan prepare breakfast, and I'll take you back after you eat." He ruffled Xinxin's hair. "Don't worry, I won't let your family worry."

Breakfast was held in the manor's glass sunroom. Jiang Yan had prepared a sumptuous blend of Chinese and Western breakfast foods—freshly squeezed juice, homemade yogurt, shrimp dumplings, pancakes, fruit salad, and Tiramisu, which was Xinxin's favorite.

The housekeeper was wearing a light gray professional suit today, her demeanor as professional and appropriate as ever, but Jiang Jing noticed that the look she gave Xinxin was even more complicated than yesterday.

"Mr. Jiang, the car you requested is ready." Jiang Yan placed a cup of freshly ground coffee in front of Jiang Jing, her voice calm.

"Car?" Xinxin looked up curiously, a bit of cream still on the corner of her mouth. "Aren't we taking the Ferrari to take me back?"

Jiang Jing smiled mysteriously. "We're taking a new car today."

After breakfast, Jiang Jing took Xinxin to the underground garage. When the elevator doors opened and that matte black lamborghini veneno Roadster appeared before her eyes, Xinxin's reaction was even more exaggerated than Jiang Jing had anticipated.

"Th-this is..." Her voice suddenly pitched up into a shriek. "Ahhh! A lamborghini veneno?! The one limited to eight units worldwide?!"

Jiang Jing raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You recognize this car?"

"Of course!" Xinxin circled the car excitedly, looking like she wanted to touch it but didn't dare. "I'm a regular user on the Autohome forum, okay! There are only two of these in the country, I think—one in Shanghai, one in Beijing... Oh my god, oh my god! Brother Jiang, how did you get this?"

Watching Xinxin dancing with excitement, a sense of satisfaction welled up in Jiang Jing's heart. He had originally thought girls wouldn't know much about supercars, but he hadn't expected Xinxin to be a closet car enthusiast.

"It just arrived last night," Jiang Jing said nonchalantly, pressing the car key. The scissor doors of the lamborghini veneno slowly rose, and the V12 engine let out a low roar, like a beast waking up.

Xinxin carefully sat in the passenger seat, stroking the full carbon fiber interior. "This texture... these stitches... Oh my god, I'm actually sitting inside a lamborghini veneno!"

She suddenly turned to Jiang Jing, her eyes shining brilliantly. "Brother, can I film a video to post on Douyin? Just the interior, I won't show the license plate!"

Watching her childlike excitement, Jiang Jing nodded with a smile. "Film whatever you want."

For the next ten minutes, Xinxin was like a child with a new toy, filming the interior details from every angle and even having Jiang Jing take a few photos of her sitting in the driver's seat.

She was wearing a simple white dress today, which created a sharp contrast with the black supercar. The clash of purity and wildness made every photo look like a fashion magazine spread.

"All done!" Xinxin finally put her phone away, satisfied. "Let's go!"

As the lamborghini veneno drove out of the manor, the security guard at the gate stood at attention and saluted involuntarily.

The sensation this car caused on the streets of Rong City was even more exaggerated than the ferrari sf90—after all, while a Ferrari was expensive, it wasn't rare, but this lamborghini veneno was a true rarity, one that many seasoned car enthusiasts had only ever seen in pictures.

"Brother, can we open the convertible top?" As soon as they were out of the manor gates, Xinxin asked impatiently.

Jiang Jing pressed the button, and the roof slowly retracted, turning it into a true convertible supercar.

The early summer breeze blew against their faces, carrying the scent of sunshine and plants. Xinxin unbuckled her seatbelt and stood up (this is very dangerous, everyone please do not imitate this), opening her arms and cheering, her long hair dancing in the wind.

"Sit down! Fasten your seatbelt!" Jiang Jing commanded quickly, slowing down the car at the same time, though he couldn't help but smile. Xinxin's vitality and enthusiasm were infectious, and even he, a person accustomed to the coldness of the city, couldn't help but be swept up by it.

"Where are we going?" Jiang Jing asked. "Continuing our one-day tour of Rong City?"

Xinxin shook her head. "Let's go to Rongcheng University for a bit first! I applied for the broadcasting department there; school starts in September."

Rongcheng University was the best university in the province, and its media program ranked well nationwide. Jiang Jing turned the wheel, and the lamborghini veneno streaked through the city streets like a bolt of black lightning, drawing countless passersby to stop and take photos.

The campus was lined with trees, with classical and modern architecture reflecting off each other.

Although it was summer vacation, there were still quite a few students remaining on campus. When the lamborghini veneno drove onto campus, the commotion it caused was predictable.

"Oh my god! Is that... a lamborghini veneno?"

"Am I seeing this right? The one limited to eight units worldwide?"

"Quick, take a picture! Quick!"

Jiang Jing found a parking spot, and he and Xinxin got out to take a walk.

Xinxin excitedly pointed to various buildings to introduce them. "This is the library; it's said to have over three million books... That over there is the Art Academy, that's where my major is... Oh! That's the student cafeteria; I heard the spicy hot pot on the third floor is really delicious..."

Watching Xinxin's animated expression, Jiang Jing suddenly realized that although they already had the most intimate relationship, he actually knew very little about this girl.

In his impression, Xinxin was just a cute little streamer who liked to dance.

But now it seemed she also had a passion for cars, a longing for university life, and an unexpected major choice—broadcasting, rather than the music or performance he had assumed.

"Why did you choose the broadcasting department?" Jiang Jing asked curiously.

Xinxin's pace slowed down, and a hint of shyness flashed across her face. "Actually... I've wanted to be a host since I was a kid. Streaming was just something I started by accident; I never expected anyone to like it... and I never expected to meet someone like you, Brother."

She looked up at Jiang Jing, her eyes sparkling. "After I graduate, I might even be able to get into a TV station!"

Jiang Jing suddenly thought of the system's cashback function; perhaps investing in Xinxin's career...

He could do more than just donate and send gifts.

"Go for it, you can definitely do it." He pinched Xinxin's little cheek. "If you need any help, tell me anytime."

(Everyone, if you have any beauties you want to see, you can tell me their names, appearances, and backgrounds, and if I have the chance, I'll arrange for them to appear!)
