86: Chapter 86: Can I get contact information only if I buy a bag?
Jiang Jing stood outside the luxury goods store, observing the eye-catching lesbian couple inside through the display window.
Lin Ruoxi was holding a classic Chanel chain bag, posing in front of the mirror. Her short hair swayed gently with her movements, while Chu Yuqing stood by her side, her eyes full of doting affection.
Jiang Jing stepped into the store.
The air conditioning in the boutique was blasting. As soon as Jiang Jing walked in, a sales associate approached him. After seeing his attire, her attitude immediately became enthusiastic; the discerning sales associate knew her brands well.
"Hello, sir. Is there anything I can help you with?" the sales associate asked with a sweet smile.
Jiang Jing waved his hand. "I'll just look around first." His gaze locked directly onto the lesbian couple in the corner.
Lin Ruoxi was hanging a small pink bag on Chu Yuqing's shoulder, and the two leaned intimately against each other to look in the mirror.
Although Chu Yuqing's expression was cold, the gleam in her eyes betrayed her delight.
Jiang Jing smiled slightly, his gaze shifting between the two before finally landing on Lin Ruoxi. "Beautiful lady, could I get your contact information? I think your outfit is very stylish, and I'd like to ask you for some advice."
Lin Ruoxi raised an eyebrow. Although she disliked men, Jiang Jing's attitude was polite enough, so she didn't say anything over the top, only replying indifferently: "Sorry, I'm not used to adding strangers."
Beside her, Chu Yuqing let out a cold laugh, her eyes filled with obvious hostility. "Heh, just because you're handsome, you think you can just hit on anyone successfully? I've seen plenty of men like you, trying to trick girls with just a pretty face and a few sweet words. It's truly ridiculous."
Jiang Jing was amused by her reaction; she had likely been deceived by a scumbag before.
He helplessly spread his hands. "How do you know I'm a scumbag? You can't just write someone off completely because they're handsome, can you?"
"Intuition." Chu Yuqing lifted her chin, her black hair swaying gently with the movement. "I've seen plenty of guys like you who are handsome and smooth-talkers. Sweet words on the lips, but in reality, you just want to trick girls into bed."
Lin Ruoxi tugged on Chu Yuqing's hand, signaling her not to be so sharp, but the wariness in her eyes toward Jiang Jing remained undiminished.
Some people nearby noticed the commotion and stopped to watch, with some even taking out their phones to record the awkward scene of Jiang Jing being rejected by the beauties.
Jiang Jing observed their interaction with great interest.
Chu Yuqing's hostility was so obvious, and while Lin Ruoxi maintained a polite facade, her deep-seated aversion to men was equally strong.
This combination was indeed quite challenging.
"Then how can I prove I'm not a scammer?" Jiang Jing deliberately put on a troubled expression. "Can you give me a chance?"
A flash of cunning crossed Chu Yuqing's eyes. "Simple. Scumbags are all sweet talkers who aren't willing to actually spend money."
She pointed to a limited-edition Hermès Birkin bag displayed in the window. "If you're really not a scammer, buy us that bag, and we'll believe you and give you our contact information."
Jiang Jing looked in the direction she was pointing; it was a limited-edition crocodile skin Hermès with a price tag of 380,000.
When Chu Yuqing made this request, a mocking smile played on her lips, clearly convinced that Jiang Jing would back down.
Lin Ruoxi also had an expression of someone watching a show, whispering to Chu Yuqing: "Yuqing, you're so mean. That bag costs over 300,000."
"That's the point, to make him back down," Chu Yuqing responded, also whispering, but loud enough for Jiang Jing to hear. "I've seen plenty of these scumbags pretending to be big spenders."
Jiang Jing chuckled inwardly; 380,000 wasn't even pocket change to him. But he deliberately put on a hesitant expression: "This... is a bit expensive..."
"See? I told you." Chu Yuqing raised her eyebrows in victory and pulled Lin Ruoxi to leave. "Ruoxi, let's go. Don't pay attention to this scammer."
"Wait." Jiang Jing called out to them, a mysterious smile on his face. "I'll buy it."
"What?" Both of them turned around at the same time, their expressions equally shocked.
Jiang Jing had already walked toward the sales associate. "Please wrap up that limited-edition Birkin bag in the window. I'll take the other limited-edition one as well."
The sales associate's eyes lit up. "Are you sure, sir? This is a limited edition, and it's not discounted."
"I'm sure." Jiang Jing took out his card. "Go ahead and charge it."
Chu Yuqing and Lin Ruoxi stood there, watching this scene in a daze. Chu Yuqing's hand unconsciously gripped Lin Ruoxi's arm, her knuckles turning white.
"He... he really bought it?" Lin Ruoxi's voice was somewhat unnatural. "A 380,000 bag, just like that?"
Lin Ruoxi tugged on her sleeve and muttered: "Yuqing, this... seems like we overplayed our hand?"
The disdain in Chu Yuqing's eyes had been replaced by shock. "Impossible... This must be an act... He'll definitely find an excuse not to pay..."
But reality quickly shattered her doubts.
The sound of the POS machine spitting out the receipt was exceptionally clear in the quiet store. Jiang Jing signed his name with a flourish and then took the exquisite shopping bag handed over by the sales associate.
"Here." Jiang Jing walked back to the two of them and handed the bag to Chu Yuqing. "Do you believe I'm not a scammer now?"
Chu Yuqing didn't reach out to take it. Her expression shifted constantly, from shock to confusion and then to a hint of shame. "You... why..."
Lin Ruoxi's reaction was even more complex. She stared at the shopping bag, her eyes filled with both desire and wariness.
"This is too expensive. We can't accept it."
"Why not?" Jiang Jing smiled. "Just consider it a gift for our first meeting. I, Jiang Jing, keep my word. Since I promised to buy it, I won't go back on it."
Chu Yuqing finally found her voice. "You... what exactly do you want? Spending hundreds of thousands just to get our contact information? Even if you're rich, you don't burn money like this."
"Money isn't important to me." Jiang Jing shrugged.
Lin Ruoxi recovered quickly, a hint of interest flashing in her eyes as she took out her phone. "Fine, you win. Let's add WeChat. My name is Lin Ruoxi."
Jiang Jing smiled and scanned the code to add her, then looked at Chu Yuqing. "And you?"
Chu Yuqing hesitated for a moment, but eventually, she reluctantly took out her phone and said softly: "Chu Yuqing... But don't think this means you can do whatever you want. I'm not that kind of girl."
Jiang Jing nodded, his tone relaxed. "Don't worry, I just think you two are interesting, and I'd like to make friends, that's all."
Chu Yuqing snorted softly, but the hostility in her eyes had diminished significantly.
When the three phones emitted the "beep" sound of a successful connection one after another, the system's voice rang out in Jiang Jing's mind:
[Lin Ruoxi Favorability +10] (Currently 0)
[Chu Yuqing Favorability +15] (Currently 15)
This result left Jiang Jing quite satisfied.
A single purchase had boosted the favorability of two gorgeous beauties, especially Lin Ruoxi, who had originally loathed men; she had gone from -10 to 0—no longer negative.
Jiang Jing put away his phone. "Go ahead and take the bag."
Chu Yuqing's expression became guarded again. "We won't take it. Who knows what strings might be attached if we accept your bag."
Lin Ruoxi, however, hesitated. "But... this is a limited edition, after all..."
"Ruoxi!" Chu Yuqing glared at her in warning.
Jiang Jing defused the awkwardness at the right moment. "Don't worry, there are no conditions at all. If you don't believe me, you can record a voice memo to prove it. If you don't take it, I'll just throw it away!"
Hearing Jiang Jing's absurd remark, the two rolled their eyes in unison.
He was going to throw away a bag worth hundreds of thousands; either he was crazy, or he had a grudge against money.
But since Jiang Jing had said as much, they had no choice but to accept it.
