30: Chapter 30 Old Classmate - Wang Hao
As the scissor doors slowly rose, Jiang Jing stepped out from the driver's seat. The scene fell silent for a few seconds, then erupted into an even louder commotion.
"The owner is out!"
"He's so young!"
"And quite handsome too!"
Why did Jiang Jing get out of the car? Because he saw that this car enthusiast blogger looked very much like his old classmate!
He carefully examined the man before him, memories slowly surfacing: "Wang... Wang Hao?"
The man doing the livestream froze in place, nearly dropping his phone. He stared at Jiang Jing for several seconds, then suddenly widened his eyes: "Jiang... Jiang Jing?"
"It really is you!" Wang Hao, the man, instantly flushed red with excitement and rushed forward to give Jiang Jing a hug, but suddenly realized the other's current status and abruptly halted his steps.
"I... I'm your high school classmate, Wang Hao! The one who sat at the desk behind you!"
Wang Hao, one of his friends from high school, a super car enthusiast. He seemed to have gone to Beijing for university to study media, and later, he heard he became an automotive self-media creator. He didn't expect to meet him here.
Because Jiang Jing was an orphan, he didn't have many genuine friends during his school days.
Most of the time he was relatively quiet and reserved, but there were always some social butterflies who could fully influence the people around them.
They were exactly what the homeroom teacher called — the very few exceptions.
Clearly, Wang Hao was one of them, and as a social butterfly, he was actually quite good to Jiang Jing.
"Long time no see." Jiang Jing smiled and took the initiative to reach out his hand.
Wang Hao took it, feeling flattered, then suddenly remembering something, quickly turned the phone camera towards Jiang Jing: "Guys! A shocking twist! The owner of this lamborghini veneno is actually my high school classmate! Back in the day, we even skipped class together to play games at the internet cafe!"
The Livestream room instantly exploded:
"For real?"
"Haozi, you've latched onto a big shot!"
"What's it like having a billionaire as a classmate?"
"Begging for the big shot's contact info!"
"Does the big shot still need friends?"
The comments scrolled by rapidly, gift effects kept popping up, and the number of viewers had soared from a few thousand to over a hundred thousand.
"Jiang Jing, what... what kind of work do you do now?" Wang Hao asked cautiously, while moving the phone microphone closer to Jiang Jing.
Jiang Jing had long anticipated this question and answered calmly: "Doing some investments, luck has been good."
"You're being too modest!" Wang Hao waved his arms exaggeratedly, "This is a supercar worth nearly one hundred million! You were the most low-key in our whole class, but it turns out you're the real big shot!"
He was just insecure before! Not low-key, hey.
Jiang Jing smiled and punched Wang Hao lightly: "I just got lucky, that's all."
Exclamations kept coming from the crowd of onlookers, and some began to push forward, wanting to film Jiang Jing and that rare supercar up close. The scene became somewhat chaotic for a moment.
"Everyone, please move aside! Do not block traffic!" The traffic police nearby finally noticed the commotion and walked over quickly to maintain order.
Jiang Jing took the opportunity to say to Wang Hao: "It's not convenient here, let's talk another day?"
"Wait!" Wang Hao hurriedly pulled a business card from his pocket, "I'm doing automotive self-media now, with over two million followers! Let's have a meal sometime? My treat!"
Jiang Jing took the business card and glanced at it — "Car God Brother Hao", the title was Chief Content Officer of a well-known automotive platform. It seems this kid is doing quite well for himself.
"Sure, just contact me." Jiang Jing put away the business card and turned to return to the car.
Just then, Wang Hao suddenly shouted towards the Livestream room: "Guys! Do you want to see the interior of the veneno? Begging Big Shot Jiang for a chance!"
The comments were immediately flooded with "Want to see", and the gift effects became even crazier.
Jiang Jing laughed and cursed: "Stop being so polite, just film it."
"No problem!" Wang Hao excitedly moved to the side of the car, carefully filming the interior with his phone, "Guys, look closely! Full carbon fiber! Alcantara headliner! Custom purple stitching! This texture! This craftsmanship! Oh my god, I'm about to cry!"
The Livestream room boiled over again:
"This is a real winner in life!"
"So jealous, so jealous..."
"Does the big shot need a driver?"
Seeing this, Wang Hao chuckled and stepped back, "Thanks, Big Shot Jiang! Guys, give a follow to the number one ranked big brother!"
Jiang Jing sat back in the driver's seat and raised the scissor doors amidst the envious gazes of the crowd. The veneno's V12 engine let out a roar, slowly driving away from the scene.
In the rearview mirror, Wang Hao was still excitedly saying something to his phone, and the surrounding crowd did not disperse for a long time.
Driving away from the noisy streets, he turned onto the private road leading to Shanshui Manor.
Jiang Jing opened the car roof, letting the night breeze brush against his slightly tipsy cheeks. Streetlights cast mottled light and shadows on both sides, and the lights of Rong City in the distance were like scattered stars.
This top-tier luxury residential area in Rong City covered nearly a thousand acres, yet had only twenty-some villas.
Each one was situated in a carefully designed garden, maintaining just the right distance from each other — neither disturbing one another nor being unable to support each other when necessary.
The vehicle slowed down gradually, preparing to turn into the private driveway of Manor No. 1. Just then, Jiang Jing noticed a figure standing in front of the gate of Manor No. 3, seemingly waiting for something intentionally.
Indeed, the person was bowing slightly, seemingly wanting Jiang Jing to stop.
By the light of the street lamp, he saw clearly that it was a man around sixty years old, wearing a meticulously tailored black suit, his silver hair combed neatly, standing as straight as a soldier.
The most striking thing was that he wore a monocle over his left eye, which glinted coldly in the light.
Jiang Jing stopped the car, and the other party walked over slowly.
"Good evening, sir." The old man stepped forward, his voice deep and respectful, "Forgive my intrusion in stopping your car. I am the butler of Manor No. 3, and I have come on the orders of my young lady to pay my respects to our new neighbor."
Jiang Jing raised an eyebrow slightly. Having moved into Shanshui Manor for over a week, this was the first time a neighbor had taken the initiative to make contact. He opened the car door and stepped out: "Jiang Jing, Manor No. 1."
Butler Zhou Shan bowed slightly and handed over an exquisite wooden box with both hands: "This is a Romanée-Conti, a gift specially selected by my young lady to welcome Mr. Jiang as the newest member of Shanshui Manor."
"You may open it to take a look."
Jiang Jing took the wooden box and lifted the lid.
Resting on the dark velvet lining was a bottle of red wine with a slightly yellowed label, the wax seal on the closure intact.
Even a layman in red wine would know that the price of this bottle at an auction would not be less than a million.
"A very valuable gift." Jiang Jing closed the lid, "May I ask who your young lady is..."
"Miss Su Yingxue." Butler Zhou Shan's answer was brief and appropriate, "Miss Su has recently returned from Switzerland and, hearing that Manor No. 1 has a new owner, is quite curious."
Jiang Jing keenly noticed the subtle change in the old butler's tone when he mentioned the word "curious". This was not a simple neighborhood greeting.
"Please thank Miss Su for her kindness on my behalf." Jiang Jing accepted the wine box. "I will send my butler to pay a visit in due time."
