Chapter 39: Waking Vampire CoresGreta sat alone in the heart of her coven’s sacred grounds. The moonlight spilled in through the open ceiling, casting silver shadows across the stone floor. Candles floated midair, their flames steady, almost like they were listening.

One leg crossed over the other, her hand resting on her chin, Greta stared blankly at the runes on the floor.

"...Lord of the Night, huh?"

Her voice echoed slightly.

She tapped her fingers against her jaw.

It made sense. The blood moon. The surge in monster activity. The strange pulse in the air last night that made even her magic go wild for a second.

Lucifer.

He wasn’t just some turned vampire... not anymore.

"He’s not just a vampire," she muttered. "He’s the vampire."

Greta leaned back and exhaled.

"Forget the orb. Forget the archives," Greta said. "Lucifer’s awakening might’ve caused the blood moon, but that doesn’t change our mission."

She pointed toward the massive stone gates behind them.

"Monsters are pouring into this realm like a busted dam. That’s our problem now. And if we don’t act fast, cities will start falling."

The witches nodded.

"Spread out. Night watch across every hotspot. Use the sigil network. If anything stronger than a beast-class shows up, report first—then strike."

As her coven scattered into shadows and wind, Greta looked back toward the moon once more.

"...You better know what you’re becoming, kid," she whispered. "Because if you don’t... something else might figure it out first."

The Next Day

Lucifer stepped through the school gates, the morning sun hitting his red hair just right. It gleamed like fire, catching everyone’s attention.

Whispers filled the air.

"Who’s that?"

"Damn... he looks like a model."

"Look at those eyes..."

Girls froze in place, eyes wide, jaws half-open. Some blushed on instinct.

The guys? Half confused, half jealous.

Lucifer didn’t care. He walked with a small smile, hands in his pockets like nothing bothered him.

But then—he stopped.

His smile faded.

He turned his head sharply to the left, eyes narrowing. That feeling again.

That same stare. Watching him. Studying him.

But just like that—it was gone.

"...I’ll find you one day," Lucifer muttered under his breath.

His eyes lingered for a second longer before he turned back and walked off toward class, the crowd naturally parting for him.

On top of a nearby building, in the shadows cast by the sun behind it—two figures slowly emerged from the darkness.

The shadows peeled away like a curtain, revealing Vina and Rey.

"That was close," Vina said, arms crossed as her eyes stayed on Lucifer’s fading figure. "He almost caught you."

Rey frowned. His eyes sharp, calculating.

"You felt it too, didn’t you?"

Vina nodded.

"He’s growing faster than I expected," Rey muttered. "Not on our level yet... but if he keeps going like this, he’ll surpass us."

"And..." he clenched his jaw, "he looks too much like him."



Vina didn’t need to ask who he meant.

Red hair. Red eyes. That magnetic presence.

"...Damniel Origin," she whispered.

The Incubi Prince. The one known as the embodiment of lust. Son of Lilith Origin—the Succubi Queen. The demon realm’s royalty.

Vina sighed. The resemblance was too close to ignore.

"But Lucifer’s a vampire. A full-blooded one," she said, mostly to herself. "There’s no way he’s Lilith’s son. Right?"

She wasn’t convinced.

He had the aura of an Incubus. Subtle... but real.

She looked down again as Lucifer vanished into the building.

"...Coincidence, maybe," she muttered. "Or maybe not."

Rey stepped back into the shadows.

Vina followed him, her voice low.

"Should we tell Mother?"

Rey paused.

"No. Not yet. Let’s watch him a little longer. If he really is who we think he is..."

He glanced back one last time.

"...then it’s not just Earth that’s in trouble."

And with that, the shadows swallowed them again.

Back in class

Lucifer leaned back in his seat, one arm lazily draped over the backrest. His crimson eyes flicked behind him.

Munachi was still there, still trying to talk to him, looking cheerful as ever.

But Rey? Nowhere in sight.

"Tch... that guy’s not here," Lucifer thought, narrowing his eyes. "Something about him felt off. That energy... way too calm, too controlled."

His fingers tapped the desk lightly.

"She’s good with shadows, right?" he muttered mentally, thinking about Alessia. "She’ll do."

He didn’t like variables—especially ones like Rey.

He thought about Temmy too. She’d be perfect for this, but she’d been MIA all day. No sign of her anywhere.

So he’d work with what he had.

And right now, he had vampires.
