Chapter 55: Ambush"Temmy still hasn’t gotten anything out of that Greta woman," Ruka muttered, his eyes scanning the path ahead. "She’s playing the long game."

Lucifer’s phone buzzed in his hand.

He glanced down—a message from Dera.

A nest appeared in the east wing. Might get messy. Want you to clear it out.

Lucifer didn’t even blink. He just sent the info straight to Zane.

"She’s not worth the effort," he said coolly, slipping the phone back into his pocket. "She can rot with her secrets. I’ve got better things to do."

Ruka frowned but said nothing. He knew there were some things Lucifer had buried too deep—even for him.

They walked a little more... and then the world changed.

The street was dead silent, soaked in moonlight, wind brushing gently against the trees. A moment ago, the campus paths were lively with chatter and movement. Now? Nothing.

Lucifer and Ruka stopped walking. No footsteps. No voices. Not even the sound of night insects.

Just quiet.



"Something’s wrong," Ruka muttered, hand moving to his side.

Lucifer, however, didn’t look worried. He stared ahead, a slow smirk curling on his lips.

"Heh," he chuckled, cracking his knuckles. "So they finally crawled out of their holes."

From the shadows, rooftops, alleys, and balconies—they began to emerge. Dozens. Werewolves with glowing eyes and claws half-shifted. Vampires dressed in dark suits, coats, and robes, faces unreadable.

Seven directions. All closing in.

Lucifer didn’t even blink.

"Took your time," he said calmly. "But you picked the wrong night."

Lucifer cracked his neck, his red eyes gleaming with delight. "So dramatic. I love it."

From his shadow, two figures rose like wraiths—Alessia, with her obsidian chains coiling like snakes, and Anita, twirling her twin blood-forged daggers.

Ruka slowly unsheathed his spirit blade, the air humming as the silver-edged weapon gleamed with ethereal blue. It pulsed with soul energy, alive and ready.

Then came the voice—deep, dry, and bored.

"Kid, you’re surprisingly calm for someone who’s got a death sentence," said Drax, a tall vampire dressed in a sleek black cloak with a bloodstone pendant on his chest. His gaze flicked past Lucifer to the gathered crowd. "As for you mutts—leave. This one belongs to us."

A ripple of growls rose from the werewolves. One of them, a huge beast with scars all over his neck and back, stepped forward. "You bloodsuckers think you can take him? That boy survived a bite. That makes him a threat. And threats to werewolves... get put down."

"Put down?" sneered another vampire, this one from the Rosenthal Clan, her eyes sharp like daggers. "You flea-bitten mongrels wouldn’t even have noticed him if we didn’t keep him alive this long."

"Keep dreaming," snarled a dark-skinned alpha with glowing amber eyes. "We’ve been tracking him since the Nest incident. That power doesn’t belong to you."

"And who the hell are you to say who gets him?" another vampire from the Nocturne Court interrupted, stepping forward, golden rings on every finger. "The Nocturne Court has declared Lucifer a Class-S asset. He comes with us."

"In your dreams," spat a lean, younger vampire from the Midnight Vein, his fangs out. "We tracked his movements. That trail? Ours. You Court bastards always show up late and act like you run things."

A deep, rumbling growl echoed out as a massive, grey-furred werewolf stepped forward, cracking his neck.

"All this yapping and not one of you realizes—he’s not running. That boy is standing there waiting for us."

All eyes turned to Lucifer, who yawned.

"Done?" he asked casually. "If you all plan to argue about ownership, maybe form a council or something. I’ve got things to do. But since you’re all here—why don’t I just break you a little?"

Ruka grinned beside him. "Took you long enough to get fired up."

Lucifer’s smile sharpened. "Let’s show them what they walked into."

As the tension reached boiling point, the vampires and werewolves froze—none daring to make the first move.

No fight yet.

But the air was thick with danger. And blood.

Lucifer yawned again, louder this time, just to be annoying.

"Man... I thought this was going to be exciting. But all I see are mutts barking and dead men trying to act important." He tilted his head at the vampires. "Drax, you’re still wearing that cloak? You look like a bad extra from an old horror flick."

Drax’s eye twitched.

Lucifer turned to the werewolves, pointing lazily at the massive grey-furred alpha.

"And you—did they drag you out of a retirement cave for this? Or are you just here for the free bloodbath?"

The werewolves growled. One of them actually stepped forward, veins bulging and fangs out, but the grey-furred omega raised a hand to stop him.

Lucifer smirked. "That’s right. Sit, boy."

That did it.

A younger werewolf snarled and leapt, claws flashing—



—but vanished mid-air.

Lucifer appeared behind him in a blink, fingers pressed to the werewolf’s skull.

"Fast," Lucifer whispered, eyes glowing, "but not fast enough."

He slammed the werewolf’s head into the ground, the street cracking beneath the force.

The werewolves roared. The vampires tensed.

Alessia’s chains rattled, tightening around her arms like they could barely wait to be let loose.

Anita twirled one dagger around her finger. "You broke the ice early, huh?"

Lucifer stepped over the unconscious wolf, brushing dust off his shoulder.

"Oops. I slipped."

And then—

DING!

A translucent blue panel appeared in Lucifer’s vision. The edges glowed softly in the moonlight.

New Quest Unlocked: "King of the Night"

Objective: Defeat at least 50 or more opponents from either side.

Bonus Objective: Eliminate 1 Omega-Ranked Werewolf and 1 Ancient Vampire.

Time Limit: None. Begin Slaughter.

Lucifer blinked, then grinned like a devil.

"Oh, you’re really feeding me tonight."

He cracked his neck again, and this time, the street lights around them exploded, plunging everything into darkness.

But Lucifer still shone—his body outlined by an eerie red glow, shadow tendrils licking at the edges of his cloth.

"Alright," he said, arms out wide. "Come on then. Fifty of you should be enough to get me halfway through breakfast."

The werewolves lost it.

Four of them charged, half-shifted, teeth bared.

Behind them, two vampires zipped forward, so fast they became blurs.

Ruka moved first—his spirit blade a blur of ghostly silver as he cut through the air, sending one vampire tumbling back, howling.

Anita disappeared, then reappeared in mid-air above the werewolves, her daggers glowing crimson.

She spun once, then descended like a meteor.

Alessia’s chain lashed outward, wrapping around a vampire’s leg and yanking him into a nearby car window, shattering the glass.



Lucifer didn’t even move for the first few seconds—he just watched.

Then, when the timing was perfect, he walked forward calmly, catching a charging werewolf’s wrist with one hand.

"Powerful," he admitted, "but predictable."

He dragged the beast forward and kneed him in the chest, cracking ribs. With a flick of his fingers, black flames erupted from his palm, searing into the werewolf’s fur and sending him howling.

Above, Drax narrowed his eyes, arms still folded.

"This won’t end well for you, boy," he muttered.

Lucifer heard him.

"You’ve been alive too long if you think I’m the same boy you heard about, Drax."

Another vampire charged from behind—Lucifer caught him without turning and snapped his neck sideways, then shoved him into a car.

"Besides," he said, glancing up at the full moon,

"Nighttime’s my thing."

The slaughter had begun, and Lucifer was only just warming up.
