304: Chapter 304 The Guinea Pig

Lin Fan did not retreat. His threefold enhanced vision broke down Chen Jian's movements with absolute clarity.

Although this beast had distorted bones and astonishing explosive power, its attack trajectory was straightforward.

This was an instinctive pounce, devoid of any systematic combat training.

wkan.com, ultra-convenient.

Draped in the beast's hide, his method of attack had also become just like a wild beast's.

Lin Fan flipped his right wrist, pointing the dagger's blade upward.

Leaning his body to the right, he extended his left hand and firmly grabbed Chen Jian's misshapen, thick forearm.

Tightening his grip, his threefold grip strength squeezed the gray fur on Chen Jian's forearm deep inward, pinning his knuckles between the other's radius and ulna.

Leveraging the momentum of Chen Jian's pounce, Lin Fan thrust the dagger in his right hand from the bottom up, precisely slicing into the joint of Chen Jian's wrist.

The blade sliced through the keratinized hard shell, ripped through the ligaments, and hacked into the bone.

"Skree-roar..."

An ear-piercing scream echoed through the woods.

The sound was completely detached from human vocal anatomy, sounding exactly like an enraged adult gorilla.

Chen Jian's massive body suddenly lurched to the side, and the claw, with most of its tendons severed, limply dangled down.

Lin Fan did not give him any room to breathe.

Pulling down with his left hand, he raised his right knee and slammed it fiercely into Chen Jian's breastbone.

A dull sound of cracking bones rang out.

Chen Jian's massive body flew backward, crashing heavily onto the sandy ground.

Before he could climb back up, Lin Fan strode over and stepped heavily onto Chen Jian's face, which was covered in short fuzz.

The sole of his combat boot ground down hard on half of Chen Jian's skull.

The dagger was held half an inch above Chen Jian's cloudy right eyeball.

"Hmm? Run," Lin Fan looked down at him from above.

This thing was laughably weak.

Peeling away that monstrous outer layer, Chen Jian was still, at his core, the useless freeloading coward that the company spoke of.

Chen Jian's chest heaved violently.

"If you have the guts... kill... me," his only remaining good hand desperately grabbed Lin Fan's ankle.

"Killing you is no different from slaughtering a chicken, but I want to get some information out of you."

"Lin Fan, stop dreaming." Chen Jian grinned with his completely deformed mouth, exposing bloody, frothed fangs. "Do you think... you're really hot stuff now?"

"Just because you're enhanced... you think you're a big deal?"

A wheezing laugh escaped his throat, vibrating his chest. "You're nothing but trash yourself."

Lin Fan applied a bit more force with his foot.

The leather boot ground into Chen Jian's cheekbone, but Chen Jian paid it no mind.

"Lab rats... you've heard of them, right?" Chen Jian didn't care about the sharp pain in his face at all; he laughed even louder. "We... everyone... everyone on this island is a lab rat."

Lin Fan's eyes turned icy.

Lab rats?

If they were lab rats, then who was the one holding the scalpel?

This island wasn't a naturally formed mutation quarantine zone, but a monitored and manipulated testing ground.

No wonder the creatures here were all Chimera-like monstrosities, and no wonder this thing specifically targeted humans.

"How did you turn into this monstrous shape?" Lin Fan asked coldly.

Chen Jian did not speak, only staring at him maliciously.

"Is your nest inside that fog?" Lin Fan continued to question, pressing the tip of the dagger down by a millimeter, piercing the gray skin on Chen Jian's eyelid. "Why do they want you to capture women?"

Reproductive needs? Or some kind of sacrificial rule?

These questions had to be cleared up.

Having taken such a big risk tonight, returning empty-handed would make the cost far too high.

A muffled cackle came from Chen Jian's throat, mixed with the wheezing of blood blocking his windpipe.

"Nothing to say." His single eye stared at the knife in Lin Fan's hand. "Either... give me a quick death."

"Or let me go and fight me again."

Lin Fan stared at Chen Jian. Begging for death?

On this island, dying wasn't that easy.

Since Chen Jian knew the core secrets, Lin Fan couldn't possibly let him die so easily.

Lin Fan slipped the dagger back into his waistband, preparing to directly cripple Chen Jian's limbs and drag him back to the Karst Cave.

Once they were back in the Karst Cave, there would be plenty of ways to pry open this deformed mouth.

Just as he let go of the dagger.

A sudden flurry of strange noises echoed from the sky above.

It was the sound of wings repeatedly cutting through the air, and by the sound of it, there seemed to be a whole flock.

Lin Fan abruptly looked up.

The wind happened to blow open a gap in the clouds, casting moonlight over the sea and the island.

Over a dozen massive dark silhouettes swept across the night sky from the depths of the island.

They were incredibly fast, with wingspans stretching several meters wide, but their outlines were definitely not seagulls or any known large bird.

They looked more like bats magnified countless times, and they were flying directly toward the beach cliffs.

That was where the Karst Cave was located.

Lin Fan's pupils constricted instantly.

Inside the Karst Cave was his woman, and the child in her belly.

All of his current enhanced abilities were bound to that pregnant woman, Su Qingxue.

If anything happened to them, he alone would be absolutely no match for these enemies.

On this monster-infested island, losing his enhancements was equivalent to an immediate death sentence.

"Roar, roar, roar, roar!"

Beneath him, Chen Jian suddenly burst into a fit of hysterical, wild laughter.

He had seen those things in the sky.

"Did you see that..." Chen Jian writhed frantically, laughing so hard that he even spat out bloody froth. "They're going there!"

"Lin Fan... the women in your cave... not a single one of them will survive!"

"Lin Fan, you'll soon get a taste of what it feels like to watch your own woman get ravaged by others."

"Roar..." Chen Jian screamed.

Lin Fan ignored Chen Jian's madness. Running back to the Karst Cave from here, even at a full sprint, would take at least seven or eight minutes.

Taking this deadweight along would probably drag the time out even longer. With Xu Zhixia and the others up there, would they be able to hold them off?
