366: Chapter 366 Was it easy for him?
Yang Biao smiled. "Friend, leave a way out in everything you do so we can still be on good terms in the future. Do you really think that by seizing the high ground, you can treat our Yang Family like a fool and fleece us?"
He drew the pistol from his waist, aiming the muzzle at Lin Fan's head.
"I will only say this once. Let Young Master Ningcong go."
"My men brought explosives. Do you believe that in three minutes, I can turn your dog-hole of a cave into ruins?"
Lin Fan showed no fear at all. "Come on then. With Young Master Yang keeping me company in death, I suppose I wouldn't be losing out."
Yang Ningcong glared fiercely at Yang Biao and snapped, "Yang Biao, don't you forget your identity! Whatever Lin Fan... Brother Fan wants, you give it to him! He covered my food and drinks for dozens of days, do you think that was easy for him?!"
"Yes, Young Master." Unwillingly, Yang Biao lowered his gun and looked at Lin Fan. "What else do you want?"
Hearing this, Lin Fan stared at the short-barreled launcher hanging on Yang Biao's tactical vest.
"That kind of anesthetic, along with the launcher, leave all of it behind."
The medicine inside the box could cause people to mutate, but after mutating, they would lose their sanity and fail to distinguish friend from foe, acting just like a ticking time bomb.
To control this kind of power or deal with the true monsters at the Island Center, they needed weapons that could restrain them.
The high-concentration special anesthetic in Yang Biao's hands was the best bargaining chip.
"You are insatiable!" Yang Biao gritted his teeth.
"A few doses of anesthetic in exchange for the life of Yang Family's sole heir." Lin Fan increased the pressure in his hand. "You aren't losing out on this deal."
Yang Ningcong was twitching in pain. "Give it to him, give it to him! Yang Biao, you bastard, hurry up and give it to him! Do you want to hurt me to death?!"
Yang Ningcong wailed aloud, "My dad sent you here to protect me, not for you to feel heartbroken over a few broken syringe tubes here!"
Yang Biao's chest heaved violently.
That anesthetic was a high-priced product purchased specifically to deal with these unknown creatures on the island, and the quantity brought out was already very small to begin with.
But Young Master Yang was more precious than anything else.
Yang Biao thrust his pistol back into its holster and crudely ripped the launcher off his tactical vest.
He felt out all the tubes from his waist pouch and threw them, along with the launcher, to Zhou Kai.
"I've given you everything." Yang Biao stared at Lin Fan. "If you dare detain anyone again, I guarantee not a single intact stone will be left in this cave of yours."
Lin Fan loosened his grip, and Yang Ningcong, as if granted a great reprieve, scrambled and lunged toward Yang Biao.
Yang Biao grabbed his arm, hauled him up from the ground, and shielded him behind his back.
"Let's go." Without looking back, Yang Biao led Yang Ningcong to retreat down the slope.
Inside the Karst Cave.
Zhou Kai looked at the things in his hand. "Brother Fan, is this stuff really that magical? Can it even take down monsters that are three meters tall?"
Lin Fan opened the metal box, looked at the two tubes of viscous liquid inside, and then glanced at Su Qingxue. The Yang Family's people had arrived, and the Su Family's people should be arriving soon as well; these two doses of medicine would definitely come in handy at a critical moment.
"Not only can it take down monsters." Lin Fan closed the box. "With this, we can take a trip to the Island Center."
Xu Zhixia walked over, her gaze falling on the launcher. "The ingredients of this high-concentration anesthetic are very complex."
Xu Zhixia said in a professional tone, "It can paralyze the central nervous system of large mutated creatures within seconds, and the dosage control is extremely strict. If an ordinary person touches even a little bit, their heart will directly suffer cardiac arrest."
Lin Fan handed the launcher to Xu Zhixia.
"Keep it safe."
Xu Zhixia took it and brought it to the side. Now everyone inside the cave was on their own side, so there was no need to avoid discretion.
Below the slope.
Yang Biao brought Yang Ningcong back to the camp.
The moment Yang Ningcong stepped down the slope and his feet touched the sandy beach, his calves were still trembling.
He looked back at the dark Karst Cave entrance halfway up the mountain; Lin Fan's figure had already retreated back into the shadows.
It was over. His nightmare of dozens of days was finally over, and he could go back to living a life surrounded by crowds once more.
He walked through that patch of crisscrossing corpses, the smell of blood surging up from the soles of his feet. A few of them still had their eyes open with their mouths agape.
Yang Ningcong's stomach churned violently. He turned his head and dry-heaved twice, but nothing came up.
The crowd parted to make a path.
The thin man with his hands behind his back stood at the very front. Behind him, two men in black were holding tactical flashlights, and the beam of light shining from the side illuminated half of his face brightly.
Yang Ningcong raised his head and met that face.
In his early sixties, with high cheekbones and a pair of eyebrows that made it obvious at a glance that he was no ordinary figure.
Yang Ningcong stood in the sand.
"Yang... Old Yang? You came personally." His voice trembled slightly.
Yang Xiongbing.
Up and down the Yang Family, everyone was either his dad's employee or his dad's subordinate. Only this person was someone his dad would address as Old Yang.
Furthermore, at the main table of New Year's Eve dinner, a set of tableware was always reserved for him.
His dad had dispatched this person out.
Yang Ningcong's nose felt terribly sore, and his lips trembled twice as he forcefully held back that surge of emotion.
He straightened his waist and properly bowed at a forty-five-degree angle.
"Old Yang." This shout was steady, entirely lacking his previous unprincipled demeanor.
Yang Xiongbing stared at him for a few seconds.
The light illuminated Yang Ningcong's disheveled appearance clearly. His hair was clumped together in strands like a mop fished out of a sewer.
His cheeks were deeply sunken, his cheekbones jutted outward, and the collar of the limited-edition T-shirt he originally wore had a huge tear in it. The sleeves had been torn off to God knows where, exposing arms that had grown a circle thinner.
Even the shoes on his feet were broken.
The corner of Yang Xiongbing's eye twitched slightly.
He reached out and patted Yang Ningcong on the shoulder. "You've lost quite a bit of weight."
Those few simple words made Yang Ningcong's Adam's apple bob and his eye sockets grow hot, but he stubbornly refused to let his tears fall.
He, Young Master Yang, could kneel in front of Lin Fan and make a fool of himself in front of Su Qingxue, but in front of his own family, he had to hold his ground.
"Your dad told you not to go out to sea." Yang Xiongbing withdrew his hand and put it behind his back. "You child are just disobedient, insisting on coming."
"Do you know that after something happened to you, your dad hasn't slept more than four hours a day?"
Yang Ningcong opened his mouth. All those bastardly words from the past like "I went to chase Su Qingxue, I'm happy to, what the hell does it have to do with you" got stuck in his throat and couldn't be spoken out.
He had been treated like a dog on this island for over a month.
That arrogant and domineering confidence had long been blown away quite a bit by the sea breeze.
"Well... you've come now, haven't you." Yang Ningcong forced a smile, his voice sounding hollow.
Yang Xiongbing didn't take up that remark. He turned his head and glanced at Yang Biao, who immediately waved his hand. Two people, a man and a woman, ran out from the back of the team, carrying first-aid kits and portable inspection equipment in their hands.
"Give the young master a comprehensive checkup."
Yang Ningcong was led to a camp stool to sit down. The female doctor put on gloves, lifted his eyelids to look, and then strapped a sphygmomanometer onto his arm.
The male doctor squatted down to check his feet. Prying apart those broken shoes, the soles of his feet were entirely covered in hard scabs formed after blisters burst and rubbed raw.
Yang Ningcong hissed and shrank his foot back a little.
"Young Master, bear with it for a moment."
Yang Biao stood three steps away, his gaze passing over Yang Ningcong's head to look toward the mid-mountain.
The firelight at the Karst Cave entrance was still there, with figures swaying.
He walked to Yang Ningcong's side. "Young Master, should we deal with those people up there?"
