Chapter 131 Heroic Acts
He opened his eyes.
A woman wearing a champagne-colored skirt suit walked down the aisle,
clearly not an ordinary economy class passenger; she had a mature, refined, and somewhat relaxed aura.
Around thirty years old, she had beautiful features and fair skin. Her slightly open collar revealed striking lines, and she walked with an elegant and confident posture.
Lin Chen gave her a casual glance before closing his eyes again.
The plane was flying steadily.
He had just adjusted his seat back a bit, intending to take a nap, when a moderate commotion suddenly broke out from the direction of business class.
Muffled by a curtain, the voices were nonetheless audible.
A woman's voice, restrained yet polite, spoke:
"Sir, please take your hand off me."
A middle-aged man replied gruffly, his voice laced with impatience and roguishness:
"Take off what?"
"Sir..."
"Don't 'sir' me!"
"You spilled my wine. I told you to pour another glass and have a drink with me,"
"but you refuse and just stand here talking nonsense?"
The surrounding passengers all pricked up their ears, but no one dared to step forward.
A Flight Attendant hurried over from the front cabin, a professional smile on her face, but her steps were clearly panicked.
Lin Chen's eyes turned slightly cold as he slowly unbuckled his seatbelt and stood up.
The boy playing games next to him looked up blankly: "Where are you going?"
Lin Chen flatly dropped two words: "The restroom."
Only a dark blue curtain separated business class from economy class.
As Lin Chen pulled back the curtain, he saw the woman in the champagne-colored suit standing in the aisle.
In front of her was a man in his forties, balding, wearing a wrinkled polo shirt, with a belly that strained against his belt.
The man's hand was gripping the woman's wrist.
"Sir, please let go."
The woman's voice was still suppressed, but Lin Chen saw her eyes were a bit red.
"I told you to pour the wine. If you'd just done it, there wouldn't be a problem,"
the man said loudly.
A Flight Attendant was already standing nearby—a young girl—trying to persuade him helplessly:
"Sir, please let go first. Whatever the issue is, we can resolve it slowly."
"Get lost."
The man didn't even look at her.
Lin Chen walked over.
He didn't speak directly to the man, but addressed the woman instead:
"Excuse me, could you let me through?"
The woman was taken aback and instinctively tried to step aside.
But since the man was still gripping her wrist, she couldn't move out of the way completely.
Lin Chen looked down at the hand, then up at the man.
"Sir,"
he said,
"you're blocking the way."
The man looked him up and down.
Lin Chen was wearing an ordinary gray hoodie, jeans, and sneakers,
looking like a college student or a young man who had graduated just a year or two ago.
"None of your business,"
the man said,
"get lost back to economy class."
Lin Chen didn't budge.
Instead, he took a step forward, standing less than half a meter away from the man.
"How am I supposed to get past when you're holding onto this lady's hand?"
"I'll hold it if I want to. What of it?"
The man sneered, tightening his grip instead.
The woman frowned but said nothing.
Lin Chen took out his phone.
He tapped the screen a few times and then held the phone up, pointing it at the man.
On the screen was a recording interface with red waveforms jumping.
"I've recorded everything you just said,"
Lin Chen said.
"Do you need me to play it for the Air Marshal?"
The man's expression shifted.
"You motherf—"
"If you say one more word, I'll add 'insulting a passenger' to the list,"
Lin Chen's tone was flat.
"If you move your hand again, I'll add 'harassing a Flight Attendant'."
"You can file a complaint right now."
"Coincidentally, I'd also like to see whether the airline will protect a troublemaking passenger like you or the safety of everyone on this plane."
"If you want to see if all this is enough to make you spend the night at the Airport Police Station, I won't stop you."
The man glared at him.
Lin Chen didn't dodge his gaze, meeting it head-on.
He still held up his phone, the waveforms on the screen jumping.
A standoff lasted for about five seconds.
He hadn't shouted or acted aggressive,
yet that nonchalant sense of pressure made the middle-aged man freeze instantly.
This young man before him was dressed ordinarily,
but the certainty in his eyes that said, 'I really will take you down,' was definitely not an act.
The Flight Attendant stood aside, staring blankly at Lin Chen's back.
Her heart was racing for some reason.
She had been shivering with fear just a moment ago, but now, shielded by this figure, she suddenly felt emboldened.
The middle-aged man's face turned pale and then flushed. He looked at the surrounding gazes,
then at Lin Chen's indifferent expression, and finally spat out:
"Fine, you win!"
"I won't stoop to your level!"
Having said that, he flopped back into his seat and turned his head away, not daring to utter another word.
The crisis was resolved just like that, with minimal effort.
Lin Chen didn't look at the man again. He turned to the Flight Attendant, who was frozen in place, and his tone softened slightly:
"It's okay now."
The girl finally snapped out of it. Her eyes were slightly red as she quickly lowered her head:
"Tha... thank you..."
Her voice was soft, filled with lingering fear and gratitude.
"No problem."
Lin Chen's gaze lingered on her face for a moment before sweeping over her fingers, which had turned pale from the grip. He said casually:
"In the future, don't put up with people like that."
With that, he turned to return to his seat.
"W-Wait!"
The Flight Attendant suddenly called out to him.
Lin Chen turned back.
The girl's cheeks were slightly flushed, and her eyes were a bit frantic, but she still summoned her courage:
"Excuse me... what is your seat number?"
"I'll... I'll bring you some drinks and snacks in a moment."
This was a blatant gesture of goodwill.
The surrounding passengers who were eavesdropping understood it perfectly.
Seeing her nervous yet expectant look, Lin Chen's lips curled up almost imperceptibly.
"Economy class, Row 7, Seat K."
"O-Okay! Thank you!"
The girl nodded vigorously, like a little rabbit that had received a promise, her eyes brightening.
Lin Chen said no more, turning back to sit in his seat.
Just as he buckled his seatbelt, the boy playing games next to him leaned in and whispered in awe:
"Bro, that was impressive! That aura just now was awesome!"
Lin Chen gave a faint smile and didn't respond.
A few minutes later, soft footsteps approached.
The Flight Attendant from before carried a glass of orange juice, a glass of warm water, and a plate of delicate snacks, bending down to hand them to Lin Chen.
"Sir, your water."
Her voice was very low, her cheeks slightly red. She didn't dare to look at him directly, yet couldn't help but steal a glance.
Lin Chen took them. "Thanks."
"You're... you're welcome."
She stood there, hesitating for a few seconds.
As if summoning great courage, her voice was as thin as a mosquito's buzz:
"My name is... Qin Shu."
"Once the plane lands, if you need anything... you can find me."
