Chapter 200 Getting Pretentious at the Auto Show

Lin Chen's brow was furrowed so tightly he could have crushed a mosquito, as he grumbled inwardly.

However, he didn't let any of it show on his face, giving a vague response:

"Alright, let's hurry up and eat so we don't delay visiting the exhibition."

The six of them didn't dawdle, swiping their cards for food at the cafeteria entrance.

After devouring a few mouthfuls and quickly settling the bill,

they hailed two taxis and rushed toward the exhibition center.

The moment they reached the entrance and saw the grand gates of the exhibition hall, the group immediately buzzed with excitement.

"Whoa! This place is huge!"

"It's several times larger than our school's playground!"

Wu Gang's eyes were wide as saucers as he couldn't help but shout, his feet never stopping as he pushed his way inside.

"Holy crap, look at all these new cars!"

"Red ones, black ones, white ones—my eyes are getting dizzy!"

Zhang Peng clung to a glass display stand, his neck craned long, his voice filled with excitement.

Wu Gang stroked the body of a silver sedan, his eyes shining:

"Hmm, this new model is nice. The lines are sharp; driving this would definitely give you some face."

Zhang Peng suddenly pointed to a car with a large logo not far away,

tugging on the arm of the person next to him:

"Hey, hey, look at that one! This style is quite nice, even more imposing than the last one!"

As the six of them were gathered around the car chatting, they bumped head-on into Wang Hao, who had just entered the hall.

Behind him followed several shiftless friends, each dressed in trendy brands with their heads tilted so high they were practically looking at the sky.

Wang Hao spotted Lin Chen instantly, and a flicker of mockery immediately flashed in his eyes.

He deliberately raised his voice, shouting sarcastically:

"Oh? Isn't this our school's great Stock God, Lin Chen?"

"What, did you bring a bunch of classmates here to buy a car?"

A tall, thin guy beside him immediately chimed in, joining the heckling:

"Looks like you've made a little pocket change from stocks lately and are finally willing to buy a basic commuter car?"

"Not easy at all!"

Lin Chen didn't even lift an eyelid, his heart completely unruffled.

Getting angry with people like this was a pure waste of time, so he intended to walk right past.

Seeing that Lin Chen ignored him, Wang Hao thought he had hit the mark.

Thinking he'd struck a sore spot, he felt even more smug.

He stepped forward a couple of paces and continued to show off:

"My dad just agreed to trade in for a new bmw for me. Do you guys know how much it costs?"

"One million!"

"It's not something a commuter car like yours can compare to."

After saying that, he led his friends away, nostrils flared toward the ceiling.

He strutted ahead arrogantly, even deliberately slowing his pace,

fearing that Lin Chen and the others wouldn't see his insufferable attitude.

The further they walked into the exhibition hall, the higher the grade of the cars became.

They went from family cars worth a few hundred thousand to luxury cars worth millions.

The crowds thinned out, replaced mostly by well-dressed wealthy people.

As they walked, Zhang Peng, Li Lei, and Wu Gang's eyes suddenly lit up.

Their girlfriends were standing next to a new BYD Yangwang as car models,

dressed in beautiful outfits with a capable aura, looking exceptionally eye-catching.

"Hi! Babies!"

The three attention-seekers immediately forgot about the people beside them.

They trotted over to say hello, the affection in their voices practically overflowing as they reached out to take their girlfriends' hands.

But as soon as they reached out, they were driven back by sharp glares from their respective girlfriends.

Those looks clearly said:

"Are you stupid?"

"Can't you read the room? We're working!"

Li Lei immediately pulled back his hand, scratched his head, and gave a silly grin.

He leaned into his girlfriend's ear and whispered in a low voice:

"Hehe, okay, okay, I get it. There are a lot of people here, let's wait until we get back..."

He was too embarrassed to say the rest, but his suggestive tone

made his girlfriend's face turn bright red, and she gave him a hard pinch.

Wang Hao, walking ahead, turned back just in time to see this scene.

His lip curled in such disdain he could have hung an oil pot from it as he muttered a complaint:

"Three country bumpkins, acting like they've never seen a woman before. How embarrassing."

After hisMake complaints, he headed straight for the most prominent supercar area at the center of the exhibition.

A lot of people were gathered there, all of them there to see the supercars.

"Brother Chen! There's the supercar area! Come on, let's go check out the supercars!"

Zhang Peng leaned in, his eyes gleaming.

He then waved to the three girls,

"Come here, come here! Supercars!"

The six of them walked toward the central area together. As they approached,

Zhang Peng couldn't help but gape, his voice changing pitch:

"Whoa! Holy!"

"It's a supercar! The starting price for this must be at least a million, right?"

Even the usually quiet Xia Wanqing and Xia Wanrou

were looking seriously now, their eyes full of admiration.

Xia Wanrou nodded gently

and said softly:

"Mhm, it really is beautiful. It looks much better than the ones we usually see on the side of the road."

The closer they got to the center, the more valuable the cars became, and the surrounding chatter grew quieter.

Everyone looked on with reverence, watching carefully.

At that moment, a staff member on the platform picked up a microphone.

Their voice carried clearly, drawing everyone's attention.

"Attention, guests!"

"The most luxurious new model at this auto show is the McLaren 650S supercar beside me, with an official price of over four million."

"And the highlight is that this car is the only exhibition vehicle of its kind in Asia!"

The staff member paused before adding:

"Furthermore, I have some news for everyone: this McLaren 650S has already been reserved by a mysterious buyer."

"If you wish to purchase one now, you'll have to wait at least two months for delivery!"

As soon as these words were spoken, a chorus of gasps erupted from the crowd.

People began taking out their phones to snap photos, their eyes filled with envy.

As for Wang Hao, his eyes lit up the moment he heard this.

Wasn't this a perfect opportunity to show off?

He had been holding a grudge ever since starting university.

He had been repeatedly outshone by Lin Chen, leaving him seething with resentment every time.

Today, he finally had a chance; he had to give Lin Chen a good verbal thrashing,

making him lose face in front of everyone while venting his own inner malice.

Thinking of this, Wang Hao straightened his back and deliberately patted his trendy jacket.

He cleared his throat and walked slowly toward Lin Chen and the others with an arrogant swagger.

Mockery practically spilled from his face as he intentionally raised his voice, afraid those around wouldn't hear:

"Still looking?"

"Lin Chen, can you even afford it?"

"Stop putting on an act here; you're wasting everyone's time!"

Seeing that Lin Chen remained silent, Wang Hao became even more emboldened.

He took a step forward and poked Lin Chen's chest with his finger, his tone becoming increasingly caustic:

"I suggest you be sensible. If you want to buy a car, go wander around the cheap sedan area in the back. This supercar area isn't a place for a pauper like you to set foot in!"

"So what if you keep looking?"

"It's not like you'll ever afford it in your lifetime."

"Hurry up and take your people far away. Don't be an eyesore here and ruin my mood for looking at cars!"

Zhang Peng instantly exploded, stepping forward and pointing at Wang Hao's nose as he cursed:

"Wang Hao, what the hell are you saying?"

"Is that how a classmate should talk?"

"Even if we can't afford it, you don't have to be so insulting! This is too much!"
