Chapter 140 Truth or Dare
The one who spoke was Shen Nian.
She pinched the empty milk tea cup with her fingertips,
her knuckles exerting a slight force,
a look of determination hidden in her eyes as if she wouldn't stop until she reached her goal,
her peripheral vision fixed firmly on the nonchalant Chu Feifei across from her.
She was calculating rapidly in her mind.
Chu Feifei had always been stubborn and loved to act tough.
Just now at the dinner table, she had acted all arrogant, as if saying "I don't care about you two."
If she didn't strike while the iron was hot,
and waited until the girl came to her senses and regretted it,
it would be difficult to manipulate her again.
This was exactly the effect Shen Nian wanted.
She wanted Chu Feifei to watch helplessly,
as she and Lin Chen openly stuck together,
and she also wanted to drag this girl into the mess,
specifically to cure her of that annoying habit of trying to steal the spotlight in everything while actually being as cowardly as a mouse.
Having made up her mind, Shen Nian suddenly slammed the cup onto the table.
The porcelain cup hit the wooden surface with a crisp clatter,
startling Lin Chen, who was playing with his phone nearby, making him look up.
"I'm finished eating."
Her tone was crisp and decisive, without the slightest hesitation,
leaving no room for Lin Chen to react.
She reached out and grabbed his arm,
with quite a bit of force, pulling him straight up.
"Let's go, we're heading back to the hotel. Don't waste any more time here."
Lin Chen was completely dazed.
He still held half an unfinished grilled sausage in his hand, and some sauce was still on the corner of his mouth.
He stumbled as she dragged him along,
subconsciously trying to struggle:
"Wait, I haven't..."
Before he could finish, Shen Nian didn't give him a chance to speak at all,
half-pulling and half-dragging him out of the shop,
her pace so fast it was as if she was afraid someone would catch up.
Chu Feifei sat opposite them.
She had just raised a wonton to her mouth,
when she instantly froze, her eyes wide and round.
Looking at their arms stuck together,
her small mouth opened and closed, and a delicate, panicked voice immediately emerged,
carrying a hint of grievance from being left behind.
"Hey!"
"You two, wait for me!"
"I'm not done eating yet!"
"I just took a bite!"
She was so anxious she stomped her feet. Looking at Shen Nian's back as she left without turning around,
her heart felt sour and blocked. Yet, she couldn't lower her pride to chase after them,
so she could only frantically stuff the wontons into her mouth.
After taking two quick, ravenous bites,
she grabbed her bag and hurriedly followed them,
muttering as she went:
"That's too much, intentionally not waiting for me."
The three of them left the snack shop one after another.
The evening breeze blew with a hint of coolness.
They walked in silence all the way to the hotel corridor.
The warm yellow voice-activated lights lit up one by one with their footsteps,
stretching their shadows long and short,
making the atmosphere inexplicably subtle.
Lin Chen's arm leaned against her soft spot.
"It feels so comfortable, so soft."
However, the hand being dragged was held with great force by her.
Lin Chen broke free from Shen Nian's hand,
rubbing his reddened arm and looking at her in confusion,
intentionally furrowing his brows.
"Wait, if we're going back to the hotel, then we're back. Why are you dragging me?"
He paused and stepped aside,
avoiding Shen Nian's gaze.
"Where exactly are we going?"
"My room is on the other side."
Shen Nian looked up at him,
the corners of her mouth curling into a half-smile,
completely ignoring his question. She simply tilted her chin toward the room door beside her,
her tone flat but carrying an undeniable force.
"To my room."
As soon as these words were spoken,
Chu Feifei, who was panting behind them, instantly froze in place.
Her eyes widened like copper bells,
her mouth open wide enough to fit an egg.
She was completely stunned,
her footsteps coming to a dead halt, even forgetting to breathe.
"Cousin?"
She subconsciously called out,
but the rest of her words got stuck in her throat.
For a long time, she couldn't say anything, her mind instantly exploding into chaos,
all sorts of messy thoughts growing wildly.
"No way?"
"Is my Older Female Cousin being this direct?"
"It's late at night, we just came out of a snack shop,"
"and without a word, she's dragging Lin Chen to her room,"
"is she going to just get it done right now?"
"Is there some mistake?"
"Cousin has been single since birth for thirty whole years,"
"usually she rarely even touches a man's hand and keeps her distance when talking to the opposite sex,"
"she's a total Buddhist-style ascetic. How did she suddenly change her nature?"
"This realization came too suddenly, didn't it?"
"Could it be that she's really been holding it in for too long and suddenly became insatiably thirsty?"
Chu Feifei's mind was filled with wild scenarios.
Her cheeks turned red in an instant,
her eyes darting around, not daring to look at Shen Nian,
nor at Lin Chen.
Her toes were almost digging a hole into the hotel carpet.
Shen Nian acted as if she didn't see her shock,
turning to look at the frozen Chu Feifei and waving her over,
her tone as natural as could be.
"Feifei, why are you standing there?"
"You come in too."
"Huh?"
Chu Feifei's shout was sharp and panicked,
her voice trembling,
like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
She suddenly took a small step back,
her whole body tensing up,
her heart rate instantly soaring to 180,
the blood flow throughout her body accelerating, the tips of her ears so red they looked like they might drip blood.
The images in her mind became even more outrageous.
Her eyes were fixed on Shen Nian's room door,
her heart wailing frantically:
"No way, no way,"
"is Cousin being this open-minded?"
"Even if she wants to do something, she doesn't need to drag me in from the start, right?"
"If it was just me and Lin Chen together doing that, I could still accept it."
"After all, I'm still a virgin."
"But for you to want both of us from the start..."
"This is way beyond my range of acceptance,"
"my imagination can't even keep up!"
She usually had no filter on her mouth,
daring to say all sorts of bold things, but when it actually came to this,
she was a total coward.
Her legs felt a bit weak, and she wanted nothing more than to turn around and run away.
Shen Nian took in her cowardly and over-imaginative look,
almost laughing out loud. Suppressing the smile at the corner of her mouth,
she didn't bother beating around the bush with her.
She first reached out to open the room door,
and pushed the dazed Lin Chen, who hadn't reacted yet, inside.
Lin Chen stumbled into the room.
He turned around, wanting to speak,
only to see Shen Nian turn back and grab Chu Feifei's arm,
pulling her toward the door.
Chu Feifei was so scared her whole body froze.
She didn't dare resist and could only let herself be dragged,
her eyes closing and opening, looking like she was going to her execution.
Shen Nian leaned into her ear, laughing in a low voice,
her tone full of teasing and a bit of triumphant mockery.
"What are you thinking?"
"Your head is filled with all sorts of messy things,"
"can't you be a bit more pure?"
"The three of us are going in to play a game first, Truth or Dare."
"Weren't you acting all high and mighty back at the snack shop downstairs?"
"Your mouth was relentless, acting like you were afraid of nothing,"
"so what, now that we're about to play, you've shrunk back like a little chick?"
"You said you wanted to play, but I think you're just all talk. In reality, you're just a paper tiger,"
"you pop with one poke, you don't have any courage at all!"
Chu Feifei's face turned red and white as she was scolded.
Shame and annoyance filled her, and those outrageous scenarios from just now shattered into pieces.
She was so embarrassed she wanted to find a hole to crawl into,
but being mocked by Shen Nian made her unable to swallow her pride,
so she stiffened her neck to argue back.
"Who... who's cowardly!"
"I'm not!"
"If we're playing, then let's play. Who's afraid of who!"
