Chapter 88 In the Bedroom
She picked up the wine glass in her hand,
her eyes shimmering with faint light as she said with a smile:
"Come, have a taste, and see if it's to your liking."
"Clink..."
The two glasses clinked gently, making a crisp sound,
as if breaking the final barrier between them.
Lin Chen tilted his head back and drained the glass in one gulp.
The sweet fruity aroma exploded on the tip of his tongue and slid down his throat,
warm and cozy; immediately after, a faint scent of alcohol spread through his heart.
The texture was delicate and refreshing; it was indeed delicious.
He Yun also drained her glass in one go,
and a faint blush soon colored her face.
A hint of mist appeared in her eyes, making her look even more alluring.
Before long, both felt a slight, unbearable heat,
their cheeks burning and a thin layer of sweat breaking out on their bodies.
Even their breathing became somewhat scorching.
Lin Chen reached up to tug at his shirt collar, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness,
along with a strange sense of thumping excitement:
"This really has some kick; the alcohol is hitting me way too fast."
"Let's turn on the air conditioning, or I won't be able to take it."
He Yun nodded, her cheeks turning even redder.
Her voice carried a faint, imperceptible panic,
along with a touch of deliberate guidance:
"Then let's go to the bedroom."
"This living room is too big and empty; the AC won't have an effect anytime soon."
"The bedroom is smaller, so the AC will work much faster."
As she spoke, she pointed to the wine bottle on the coffee table,
and added:
"There's still half a bottle left, take it inside."
"Put it on the table in the bedroom. I'll go to the kitchen to get some snacks."
"We should eat something with the wine, or we'll get drunk in a bit."
"It's the room on the left. There's a table inside; you can just put it there."
As she finished speaking and turned around,
the blush on her cheeks deepened, and her fingertips unconsciously gripped the hem of her clothes.
Panic and anticipation intertwined in her heart,
and her breathing became somewhat rapid.
She stole a glance at Lin Chen's back,
and seeing him not hesitate at all, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
"This innocent boy is so easy to coax."
She couldn't help but feel a secret surge of joy.
The marital attrition during this period had long since exhausted all her passion.
She had thought she would be trapped in that marriage-in-name-only for the rest of her life.
She had deliberately suggested going to the bedroom
and intentionally claimed the living room AC was ineffective;
these were all little schemes hidden in her heart.
A man and a woman alone, having drunk fruit wine with a strong kick,
and in her secluded home—she just wanted to take a gamble.
To gamble that Lin Chen also had some special feelings for her,
and to gamble that she could use this courage to completely step out of the shadows of the past.
She was afraid that being too proactive would make her look lowly,
and afraid that Lin Chen would refuse her after seeing through her intentions.
That was why she used the excuse of getting snacks, leaving herself a way out
while also creating more of an opportunity for the two of them to be alone.
Watching Lin Chen's back as he carried the wine bottle toward the bedroom, her heart beat faster and faster.
She silently hoped in her heart, hoping that this time,
following her own desires, there could be a different beginning.
Even if it was just brief companionship, it was better than guarding an empty villa alone,
guarding a broken marriage.
Lin Chen took the wine bottle, its cool surface against his palm,
but it couldn't suppress the heat and anticipation rising in his heart.
He deliberately feigned indifference, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the exquisite bottle.
He was secretly calculating in his mind, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up slightly:
"I've already entered her home, and it's such a secluded villa."
"A man and a woman alone, and we've drunk fruit wine with a strong kick."
"Maybe there really will be a pleasant surprise."
"Since I've been reborn, I should live more freely; why be so restrained?"
"What if... what if she really takes the initiative?"
"He Yun is beautiful, has a great mature aura, and her family background is even better."
"Even if I'm just drinking and chatting with her, I'm not losing out."
"If things go a step further, it would be a total windfall."
The more he thought about it, the more his heart itched.
That secret anticipation grew like vines in his heart, impossible to suppress.
Either way, it was a win; why not go for it?
He nodded and said briskly:
"Alright, I'll take it in first and wait for you."
With that, he carried the bottle and walked toward the bedroom on the left,
his steps hiding a hint of imperceptible lightness.
As soon as he stepped into the room, he saw the wedding photo on the wall.
"Why does this guy look a bit familiar!"
He looked closer, and the more he looked, the more it resembled him.
"Isn't this the boss who exploited him and caused him to die from overwork in his previous life?"
"Hu Xun!"
It was actually his house.
He recalled working like a dog for him in his past life,
working late every night and suffering from lack of sleep.
Even his wages were exploited.
It caused his health to decline, and he had to face his shrewish wife when he got home.
How could his exhausted body handle her demands? In the end, he couldn't perform.
His wife cheated and they divorced.
Exhausted by the consecutive double blows, he died from overwork.
"The culprit is this bastard."
"Hmph, without his exploitation, there would be no misfortune for me."
"Damn it,"
"thinking of He Yun's figure—plump, charming, and curvaceous."
His alcohol-influenced brain began to indulge in uncontrolled, infinite fantasies.
"That dog, Hu Xun. If it's confirmed later, I won't hold back."
"If you're unkind to me, I'll be unjust to you."
"I'm going to take your wife...!"
A vengeful mindset began to take root in his heart.
"I was a bit hesitant at first, but I actually ended up in this bastard's house."
"He actually gave me such a great opportunity;"},{
