Chapter 4 She's actually my own counselor
A few minutes later, Lin Chen walked out of the mall holding a brand-new phone and carrying large and small bags of new clothes.
He didn't go straight back to his rented room; instead, he stood by the roadside.
Watching the flowing traffic and well-dressed pedestrians, the light in his eyes grew increasingly firm.
The rented room was still simple and dilapidated, but when Lin Chen changed into a set of decent new clothes,
and stood in the room with his brand-new phone, the entire space seemed to have gained a different aura.
He looked at himself in the mirror; the young man in the reflection had sharp features,
no longer looking like the bullied, embarrassed person he once was.
He really needed to figure out how to earn more money;
after all, he had spent a full ten thousand yuan in one go today. Money really went fast, but fortunately, he still had 940,000 yuan at his disposal.
"Right, I should get a driver's license first,"
and so, taking advantage of the afternoon leisure time, he went to a nearby driving school and spent five thousand yuan to sign up,
and immediately said to the coach in charge of reception:
"I've already mastered driving skills, so I just hope to be scheduled for the relevant subject exams as soon as possible."
Hearing this, a look of obvious shock and surprise appeared on the coach's face, and he immediately asked:
"Hey there, little fellow!"
"You're only eighteen and can already drive skillfully?"
However, Lin Chen didn't say much.
Somewhat skeptical, the coach took out his car keys from his pocket and handed them to him.
While muttering:
"Here, these are my car keys. Give it a try."
Lin Chen took the keys, stepped into the car, sat in the driver's seat, and then smoothly completed a series of actions like ignition and starting the engine.
Then, his movements were as smooth as flowing water, all done in one breath,
as he easily completed complex tests like reverse parking, fixed-point stopping on a ramp, and starting on a slope...
When all this was done, the coach stood aside, having watched the entire process with a face full of surprise.
"Mm-hmm, not bad!"
"You're indeed quite capable; your skills are very refined and skillful."
"It just so happens there's a driving test next week. All right then, I'll arrange it for you right now!"
And right here and now, this series of dazzling and breathtaking maneuvers...
caught the attention of many nearby freshmen who had just enrolled in various local colleges in Star City,
and several girls couldn't help but steal glances at this strikingly Handsome Guy, secretly speculating in their hearts.
"I wonder which college this Handsome Guy belongs to."
You see, there were several well-known institutions located near Xingcheng University.
For instance, the Normal College, the University of Science and Technology, and Xingcheng University were all situated here.
Plus, the man before them was dressed from head to toe in top-tier international luxury brands,
and possessed such outstanding driving skills; he was truly charismatic!
Three days later, on the registration day for freshmen at Jiangcheng University, the sun was bright, and the campus was bustling with welcoming volunteers in camouflage uniforms.
Lin Chen was wearing an Adidas set he just bought from a counter, his hair meticulously styled, standing out remarkably in the crowd.
He carried a brand-new suitcase filled with newly bought clothes and daily necessities,
a world of difference compared to the embarrassment of his previous life when he only had an old canvas bag for registration.
Passing students turned their heads, some whispering about his outfit with eyes full of curiosity and envy.
"Who's that?"
"He's in designer brands from head to toe and is quite handsome. Is he some Second-generation rich?"
"I don't know, looks like a Freshman."
Lin Chen paid no heed to these discussions and walked straight to the registration desk of the School of Economics and Management.
Several long tables were set up at the registration area, with several seniors in volunteer uniforms busy at work,
and a figure sitting behind a table made Lin Chen's footsteps halt.
Su Qingran was dressed in a light gray professional suit, her long hair tied up to reveal a slender neck, with light makeup on her face, giving her a gentle yet capable aura.
She was lowering her head to organize Freshman materials, her pen gliding quickly across the paper,
while many male students nearby stole glances at her, and a few men who looked like young male teachers were trying to win her favor.
It was the same girl Lin Chen had encountered on the night of his rebirth.
Only now, her identity was a Counselor for the School of Economics and Management.
Su Qingran seemed to sense a gaze and looked up.
When she saw Lin Chen, her eyes instantly froze, her hand holding the pen stopped abruptly, and the nib drew a long ink trail on the paper.
Her cheeks instantly flushed red, then quickly faded, becoming somewhat pale,
her eyes darting away, not daring to meet Lin Chen's gaze, her body instinctively shrinking back a bit.
The air instantly became awkward, and the surrounding seniors also noticed something was off, looking at the two of them curiously.
Lin Chen composed himself, stepped forward, and took the initiative to greet her:
"Teacher Su, hello. I'm Freshman Lin Chen, here to register."
Su Qingran's throat moved, and it took a long while before she squeezed out a stiff sentence:
"He... hello."
Not daring to look up at Lin Chen, she quickly took the admission notice he handed over,
and the moment her fingertips touched Lin Chen's, she retracted them as if burned, frantically searching through the documents.
"Lin Chen, right?"
Su Qingran's voice trembled slightly as she lowered her head to quickly verify the information,
"Your registration procedures are almost done. Here are your campus card and dormitory key. Just go to Dormitory Building No. 3 to check in."
She stuffed everything into Lin Chen's hands all at once, without looking at him again the entire time, even deliberately turning her body to avoid being directly opposite him.
Lin Chen looked at her tense back, understanding everything in his heart.
She clearly still remembered what happened that night, but constrained by her identity as a Counselor, she could only deliberately avoid it.
"Thank you, Teacher Su."
Lin Chen took the items, his tone flat without exposing anything, and turned to leave.
After taking just two steps, he heard Su Qingran say to the volunteer girl beside her:
"I'm going to the restroom."
Immediately after, Lin Chen saw Su Qingran walk away quickly, her steps somewhat hurried, even almost bumping into a flowerpot by the roadside.
Lin Chen shook his head and walked toward the dormitory building with his suitcase.
He could understand Su Qingran's embarrassment; having a one-night stand partner become your student would leave anyone at a loss.
Meanwhile, a senior volunteer leaned in and said with a smile:
"Hey, do you know Teacher Su?"
"Teacher Su is the youngest Counselor in our department. They say she used to be the campus belle of the Normal University,"
"She just graduated and started working in our college this year. She's a great person, just a bit introverted."
Lin Chen smiled and didn't respond.
He looked up in the direction Su Qingran had left, pondering how they would get along in the future.
Little did he know, Su Qingran was hiding in front of the restroom mirror, hands propped on the sink, her expression complex,
her heart full of struggle; how on earth should she face what happened that night?
