Chapter 74 Kissed the Wrong Person
Xia Wanqing's whole body shook, and she instantly froze.
Her eyes widened, and her mind went completely blank.
She never imagined that Lin Chen would suddenly kiss her!
At first, she subconsciously wanted to resist.
She pushed hard against Lin Chen's chest with both hands,
trying to break free from his embrace. Her voice carried a hint of panic and anger
as she shouted indistinctly,
"Lin Chen, what are you doing!"
"Let go of me!"
But Lin Chen thought
that she was resisting because she was afraid.
He thought he was holding her too tightly, making her uncomfortable.
Instead of letting go, he held her even tighter.
He kissed her even more forcefully, his tongue gently prying open her teeth and stirring wantonly.
He was secretly delighted in his heart:
"Wanrou is so proactive today, yet she's still resisting."
"This playing hard to get is just too cute."
Xia Wanqing resisted desperately, but her strength was simply no match for Lin Chen's.
After struggling a few times, she lost her strength.
Gradually, she felt Lin Chen's warm lips.
She felt his kiss, which was gentle yet carried a hint of dominance.
The panic and anger in her heart actually began to slowly dissipate.
In its place was a flutter she had never felt before.
An unfamiliar emotion quietly sprouted in the depths of her heart.
In all her years growing up, she had never been kissed by a boy.
This was the first time, that crisp, numbing sensation.
It spread from her lips to her entire body, making her heart race.
Her cheeks burned, and even her breathing became ragged.
She slowly stopped resisting, her hands unconsciously grabbing the hem of Lin Chen's clothes.
Her body gradually relaxed, and she even subconsciously responded to his kiss.
She closed her eyes, immersing herself in this sudden intimacy.
She slowly began to like the feeling of this kiss, and the corners of her mouth even turned up slightly without her realizing it.
The two kissed more and more intensely, their breaths intertwining.
The eerie sound effects around them seemed to vanish from their ears.
Only the sounds of each other's heartbeats and breathing remained.
Just then, from the other side of the fork in the road,
Xia Wanrou's voice came drifting over, filled with a bit of panic and confusion.
It shattered the ambiguous atmosphere:
"Sister?"
"Where are you?"
"Lin Chen, are you guys over here too?"
"I'm so scared..."
These words were like a clap of thunder, instantly jolting Lin Chen and Xia Wanqing awake.
Lin Chen's whole body stiffened, and he abruptly stopped the kiss.
There was a loud "buzz" in his head.
"Wanrou?"
"Then who is the person in my arms?"
"Wait, it's Wanqing?"
Xia Wanqing also snapped back to her senses.
Her cheeks instantly turned beet red, and she hurriedly pushed Lin Chen away.
She took a step back, covering her lips with both hands.
Her eyes were full of bashfulness, panic, and a trace of indiscernible fluster.
Her heart was still beating wildly, and she didn't even dare to look up at Lin Chen.
In the darkness, Lin Chen held his breath, his mind in a state of chaos.
Only one thought remained in his mind:
"It's over, I kissed the wrong person!"
"The one I kissed was actually Xia Wanqing!"
He subconsciously let go and took half a step back.
His throat felt tight, and even his breathing became cautious.
He knew Xia Wanqing's temperament better than anyone.
She was proud and cared about her reputation; usually, even touching her would result in a scolding.
Now that he had accidentally kissed her, she was bound to blow up.
She might even flip out on the spot and make a huge scene.
What made him even more anxious was that Xia Wanrou was right nearby.
If she found out he had just proactively kissed Xia Wanqing, even if it was a mistake,
with her soft nature, she might become heartbroken and sad.
When that happened, forget about taking liberties; he probably wouldn't even have a chance to get close to the sisters anymore.
"Sis... Sister?"
"Are you guys over there?"
"I heard a sound."
Xia Wanrou's voice got closer and closer, sounding like she was on the verge of tears.
There were also footsteps, groping their way toward the fork in the road step by step.
She seemed to be clutching something in her hand, making a soft rustling sound.
Xia Wanqing had long since lost her composure, her hands tightly covering her lips.
Her cheeks were hot enough to burn.
Her heart was thumping incessantly, about to burst out of her chest.
She was both ashamed and annoyed, with a hint of panic she hadn't even noticed herself.
Although that kiss just now was an accident,
the crisp, numbing sensation lingered in the depths of her heart, making her feel uneasy all over.
She wanted to lash out, to scream and shout at Lin Chen,
but the words reached her lips only to be swallowed back down.
Firstly, she was proud and didn't want Xia Wanrou to see her looking so disheveled and bashful.
Secondly, that moment of fluttering just now had left her somewhat at a loss.
There was even a hidden trace of expectation, which she herself found absurd.
"Don't... don't come over!"
Xia Wanqing spoke subconsciously, her voice trembling slightly.
There was also an indiscernible raspiness as she quickly lowered her tone,
fearing that Xia Wanrou would hear anything unusual.
"Lin Chen and I are looking for clues over here. Wait a bit longer, we'll come find you right away."
Hearing her words, Lin Chen instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
He was secretly overjoyed.
"Fortunately, Xia Wanqing didn't flip out on the spot."
"She even helped smooth things over. Does this mean she isn't actually angry?"
"Maybe this is even an opportunity to get closer to her."
He reacted immediately, following Xia Wanqing's lead and quickly speaking up.
He tried his best to sound calm, masking his own panic:
"Right, Wanrou, just wait a moment longer."
"We've found a clue over here. We'll come find you as soon as we figure it out."
"Don't be afraid, we're here."
Xia Wanrou's footsteps stopped.
Her tone was still a bit aggrieved and fearful:
"Okay... then hurry up."
"It's so dark here by myself, and there are strange sounds. I'm so scared."
"Got it, we're coming right now."
Lin Chen responded and turned to look toward Xia Wanqing in the darkness.
Though he couldn't see her expression, he could feel the stiffness of her body
and a faint aura of panic.
He took a deep breath and, gathering his courage,
slowly took a step closer to her and lowered his voice.
His tone carried a hint of fawning and caution:
"Wanqing, about that..."
"I'm sorry, I didn't do it on purpose."
"It was too dark just now, and I thought it was Wanrou, so I..."
Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Xia Wanqing.
She suddenly raised her hand and slapped away his reaching hand.
Her tone was a bit fierce, but it lacked its usual coldness.
Instead, there was an added hint of bashful reproach:
"Shut up!"
"Who wants your apology!"
"Don't you dare mention what happened just now again."
"And don't let my sister find out."
"Do you hear me?"
Lin Chen was delighted, instantly understanding.
Xia Wanqing wasn't angry anymore.
And she was even afraid of Xia Wanrou finding out—didn't that mean there was a chance?
He nodded hurriedly, his tone respectful yet carrying a hint of triumph:
"I hear you, I hear you. I definitely won't mention it."
"And I definitely won't let Wanrou know. Don't worry."
In the darkness, looking at the way Xia Wanqing slightly bowed her head,
he could vaguely see her reddened earlobes. His confidence grew even stronger,
and there was even a trace of secret joy.
He hadn't expected that by a stroke of luck, he would actually kiss Xia Wanqing.
And looking at her, she didn't seem entirely repulsed.
Maybe in the future, he could not only take liberties with Wanrou,
but also take the opportunity to win over Xia Wanqing. Killing two birds with one stone—this was just too great!
Anyway, I've already gotten a taste of her just now.
Where there's a first time, there's a second; where there's a second, there's a third; and from the third, it can go on forever!
