Chapter 99 JK Uniform
The evening breeze, carrying the scent of alcohol and perfume, rushed over him.
The image of Dr. Zhao Mengyao—wearing a white lab coat and gold-rimmed glasses, speaking with a gentle yet undeniably professional air—still lingered in his mind.
"This doctor is incredible," Lin Chen muttered to himself.
"Professional and gentle, just a bit too aloof, like an Ice Beauty."
Suddenly, his gaze was fixed on a figure not far away, and his breathing hitched for a split second.
He frowned.
Under the streetlamp, a girl wearing a JK uniform was looking down, adjusting her over-the-knee socks.
Her long, jet-black hair was tied high into a large ponytail, swaying gently with her movements, the ends brushing against her slender neck.
The collar of her off-white shirt was loosely fastened, revealing her delicate collarbones, while the curves of her chest were perfectly outlined by the uniform.
It was full yet natural, more eye-catching than any girl he had ever seen.
The shirt at her waist was deliberately tucked up a bit, exposing a small section of fair, slender waist that could be gripped in one hand.
Paired with a navy blue pleated miniskirt that barely covered the tops of her thighs, a pair of straight, long legs were wrapped in light gray over-the-knee socks.
Wearing a pair of low-heeled leather shoes, every step she took felt like it was stepping right on his heart.
Lin Chen rubbed his eyes, thinking he had seen wrong.
This figure, this profile—how did she look just like Zhao Mengyao?
But that doctor in the hospital, who was aloof, restrained, and bundled up tightly in her white lab coat, rarely even showing her wrists—how could she be dressed like this?
The girl seemed to notice his gaze and looked up.
The light fell on her face, her eyebrows curved. Without the obstruction of the gold-rimmed glasses, her almond-shaped eyes were stunningly bright, carrying a hint of lazy amusement, completely different from the stern Dr. Zhao in the hospital.
It really was her!
Lin Chen's heart rate spiked instantly, and blood seemed to rush to his head, making his vision blur.
He had never imagined that the aloof doctor would look so dazzling after shedding her defenses and professional disguise.
She had both the playfulness of a young girl and the allure of a mature woman; that sense of contrast was more eye-catching than any scenery.
Zhao Mengyao recognized him too, a flash of surprise in her eyes, but then her smile deepened. She raised her hand and waved at him, her voice light and distinctively different from the gentle tone she used in the hospital:
"Have you been waiting long, Lin Chen?"
Lin Chen steadied himself and walked over quickly, his throat feeling a bit dry. His tone carried unconcealable surprise:
"Dr. Zhao?"
"How... how are you dressed like this?"
He regretted the words the moment they left his mouth, feeling he had been too rash. His eyes involuntarily swept over her, then quickly looked away, his earlobes slightly burning.
Zhao Mengyao was amused by his embarrassment. She raised a hand to brush her ponytail, deliberately turning around, her skirt fluttering up slightly to reveal more of her legs:
"What?"
"Can't a doctor wear the clothes she likes and come to a bar to relax?"
Her tone held a hint of teasing, and a flash of mischief crossed her eyes,
"Or does Mr. Lin think that I don't look good dressed like this?"
"Good, especially good."
Lin Chen blurted out, then felt it was too blunt and his cheeks burned even more.
"I was just... a bit surprised."
"It's completely different from in the hospital; I almost didn't recognize you just now."
"In the hospital, I'm a doctor. After work, I'm just an ordinary person."
Zhao Mengyao shrugged with a smile, her tone light,
"It's my best friend's birthday today, so I specially invited you to come play too?"
"She's still inside, said she went to grab a table."
"Let's go!"
Pushing open the bar door, a wave of noisy music instantly rushed over them, making their eardrums tremble.
Dim lights flickered, and colored spotlights swept back and forth across the crowd. The air was thick with the smell of alcohol, tobacco, and perfume, ambiguous and hazy.
The dance floor was packed with people, everyone swaying their bodies to the intense rhythm, releasing the stress of the day.
Lin Chen subconsciously blocked the side for Zhao Mengyao, avoiding the crowd weaving back and forth, and said in a low voice:
"Be careful, there are too many people."
His fingertips accidentally brushed her arm, the skin feeling delicate and smooth, and his heart skipped another beat.
Zhao Mengyao turned slightly, leaning close to his ear. Her voice was drowned out by the music, so she had to press against his earlobe to speak. Her warm breath swept over his ear, sending a tingle through his whole body:
"Thank you, it's indeed a bit chaotic here."
"My best friend said she's at the bar; let's go check there first."
The two walked through the crowd side by side. Lin Chen's gaze remained fixed on Zhao Mengyao, watching her cheeks flush under the lights, watching her ponytail sway gently with her steps, and watching her slender waist occasionally get bumped by passersby.
He would subconsciously reach out to protect her, his actions natural and intimate.
When they arrived at the bar, they didn't see Zhao Mengyao's best friend. She took out her phone, sent a message, and frowned:
"She said she's by the dance floor and wants us to go find her there."
Lin Chen nodded:
"I'll go with you."
The rhythm on the dance floor became increasingly intense, the drumbeats striking straight at the heart.
Zhao Mengyao looked at the crowd dancing wantonly on the dance floor, a flash of longing in her eyes. She turned to look at Lin Chen, a seductive smile curling the corners of her mouth:
"Mr. Lin, can you dance?"
Lin Chen was stunned for a moment, somewhat embarrassed:
"I... I'm not very good at it, I rarely come to places like this."
"It's okay, I'll teach you."
Zhao Mengyao grabbed his hand without hesitation and pulled him into the dance floor.
Her hand was small and warm, her fingertips carrying a trace of coolness. Lin Chen was pulled by her, his whole body tensed up, yet he couldn't bear to let go.
Under the dim lights, Zhao Mengyao started swaying to the rhythm. Her ponytail whipped around, her waist slender and soft; every movement carried a deadly temptation.
She turned to look at Lin Chen, smiling as she guided him:
"Follow my rhythm, relax,"
"Don't be so stiff."
Lin Chen stiffly followed her movements, but his eyes never left her.
Watching her chest rise and fall slightly with her movements, watching the small section of her exposed waist gleaming with a fair luster under the lights, watching the smile in her eyes grow deeper, his breathing became more rapid, and his body gradually relaxed, starting to dance to the rhythm.
At some point, the music became a bit more soothing, carrying a hint of ambiguous laziness.
Zhao Mengyao's movements slowed down, her body leaning slightly backward, pressing just right against Lin Chen's chest.
Lin Chen's arms subconsciously wrapped around her, firmly supporting her slim waist.
The touch was delicate and smooth, easily held in one hand, even softer than he had imagined.
The distance between the two closed instantly, their noses almost touching.
Lin Chen could smell the faint perfume on her, mixed with her own natural scent, which was intoxicating.
He looked down at her; under the lights, her cheeks were flushed, her eyes hazy, her long eyelashes trembling slightly, carrying a hint of allure.
