Chapter 226 The Policeman Who Picked a Fight
Huang Jiayi also noticed the commotion, and as she looked up, her face instantly darkened.
The one leading them was actually Zhao Gang, the colleague who had been relentlessly pursuing her for nearly half a year!
Zhao Gang and his group walked to the edge of the ring and, without a word, stripped off their police uniforms,
tossing them casually onto a nearby chair. Underneath, they wore tight-fitting undershirts that outlined their reasonably muscular builds.
His eyes were full of provocation as he stared straight at Lin Chen.
"Zhao Gang, what are you doing?"
Huang Jiayi frowned, her tone laced with obvious displeasure; she knew Zhao Gang's temperament all too well—he was definitely here to cause trouble.
Zhao Gang ignored Huang Jiayi, his gaze locked firmly on Lin Chen, a sour smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
The jealousy in his voice was almost overflowing:
"It's nothing. I just heard you were boxing here, and I also heard there's an expert who once defeated over a dozen troublemaking thugs all by himself?"
He paused, intentionally emphasizing his words with a sarcastic tone:
"I just wanted to come and spar a bit, to see what kind of Handsome Guy could make our police station's Police Flower so obsessed that she'd toss all us Handsome Guys who are pursuing her aside."
Lin Chen understood immediately.
This guy was here to give him a show of strength, using the excuse of a spar to teach him a lesson in front of Huang Jiayi and assert his presence.
He raised an eyebrow, his tone indifferent:
"Does it have anything to do with you who I practice with?"
Zhao Gang didn't answer him at all, stepping forward and tilting his chin up arrogantly:
"Kid, do you dare to have a one-on-one practice session with me?"
Lin Chen glanced at him and then at the five brothers standing beside him.
Every one of them looked unfriendly, and a mocking smile couldn't help but play on his lips:
"You've all taken off your police uniforms, so I take it it's after-hours now, purely a personal activity, and has nothing to do with work?"
"If I injure you, it won't count as assaulting a police officer, right?"
Zhao Gang smiled smugly and patted his undershirt:
"You actually think you'll injure me? Hahaha!"
"Of course, this is just after-hours entertainment!"
Lin Chen nodded, his tone light and arrogant.
"However, just you alone isn't enough. All six of you, come at me together!"
"Arrogant!"
A tall, thin man next to Zhao Gang immediately exploded, pointing at Lin Chen with an indignant tone.
"You kid are way too cocky. Do you really think we're pushovers?"
Zhao Gang raised his hand to stop the tall, thin man and didn't waste any more words.
He braced his hands on the edge of the ring, flipped himself up, and moved his arms around.
He cracked his neck, his bones making a "crack-crack" sound, and looked at Huang Jiayi with a tone of self-important tenderness:
"Jiayi, step aside for a moment. I'll test his strength and see if he's actually worthy of standing by your side."
Huang Jiayi looked at Lin Chen; seeing no sign of objection on his face, she silently backed away to the edge of the ring, feeling a bit worried.
Yet, she inexplicably trusted Lin Chen.
She had seen the aftermath of Lin Chen's fights; he wasn't someone an ordinary person could compare to.
She knew in her heart that Zhao Gang had come today entirely because of her; if he wasn't taught a lesson, things would only get more relentless in the future.
Seeing Huang Jiayi step aside, Zhao Gang's face showed a smug expression. He turned to Lin Chen, his eyes fierce:
"Kid, watch closely. Today, I'll show you what real strength is!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhao Gang lunged forward, clenching his fist and swinging it hard toward Lin Chen's chest. His speed wasn't slow.
It was clear he practiced regularly.
But in Lin Chen's eyes, this speed was like slow motion.
He simply tilted his body slightly and easily avoided the punch.
Before Zhao Gang could react, he instantly unleashed his Intermediate Combat Skill, grabbing Zhao Gang's arm with a backhand, applying force to his wrist, and using Zhao Gang's own momentum to perform a sudden side throw.
"Thud!"
With a dull sound, Zhao Gang slammed heavily onto the ring. His back hit the floor painfully, leaving him completely dazed.
He lay on the ground, looking at Lin Chen with utter disbelief, his mind a total blank.
How was it possible? How could he be so fast? He hadn't even touched the corner of the guy's clothes!
The five policemen below the ring were also stunned, their eyes wide and their mouths open wide enough to fit an egg, as they whispered:
"Holy crap, that was too fast! Brother Gang couldn't even last one move?"
"No way, this kid is too fierce. Brother Gang is usually one of the best at combat in the station..."
After all, they were only there for support, not like those local hoodlums.
They didn't all rush forward to gang up on him.
In the confusion, Huang Jiayi was the first to react, shouting at the top of her lungs:
"Don't just stand there! Quickly move Zhao Gang to the side to rest, and get him to the hospital immediately to see if anything is broken!"
Zhao Gang's brothers, who had been too scared to move, were jolted awake by her shout.
They scrambled to lift Zhao Gang, hurriedly moving him outside while muttering, "Hang in there, Brother Gang."
Their pathetic state was a far cry from their previous arrogance.
Once Zhao Gang and his group were completely gone, the venue finally became quiet.
Huang Jiayi turned around, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Lin Chen, her tone full of amazement and a bit of a complaint:
"Lin Chen, you're something else! You're way too fierce when you get serious!"
She stepped forward and lightly bumped her arm against Lin Chen's, the corners of her mouth curling up high:
"So, when you were practicing with me before, you were holding back the whole time, weren't you?"
"Purposely letting me win?"
Lin Chen scratched his head and chuckled, not answering directly, but thinking to himself:
"If I didn't hold back and let you have a good time in this ring,"
"How could I have the nerve to ask you to 'hold back' tonight?"
As soon as this thought popped up, he couldn't help but chuckle inwardly, a bit of smugness hidden in his eyes.
After all, Huang Jiayi's favorability was already at 90; this move was definitely the right one.
He took the opportunity to reach out and gently take Huang Jiayi's hand. As his fingertips touched her warm skin, he felt a secret thrill:
As expected, she didn't mind!
"Alright, alright, let's call it a day,"
Lin Chen's voice softened a bit.
"Let's go wash up. We're covered in sweat; it smells terrible."
Huang Jiayi's cheeks warmed slightly, but she didn't pull her hand away. She just gave a soft "Mm," her tone as natural as a couple that had been together for a long time:
"Then I'll head over first."
After saying that, she turned and walked toward the washroom, never mentioning the fact that he was holding her hand, as if it were the most normal gesture in the world.
Lin Chen stood there, watching her back, grinning from ear to ear, his internal calculator clicking away:
"90 favorability really is different. She didn't even react to holding hands. Then later... hehe, there will be plenty of opportunities."
Having made up his mind, he quickly followed, his steps much lighter than usual.
More than twenty minutes later, Lin Chen was already waiting at the washroom door. He hadn't been leaning against the wall for more than two minutes when he saw Huang Jiayi walk out.
Her hair wasn't completely dry and was still damp, her face still flushed from the wash, and she had changed into a clean T-shirt, looking fresh and beautiful.
Lin Chen immediately stood up straight and took her hand, his tone mysterious:
"Let's go."
"Where are we going?"
Huang Jiayi blinked, her face full of surprise as she continued to dry her hair with a towel.
"We just finished washing up. Where else are we going?"
"To my house."
Lin Chen said it bluntly, a hint of expectation hidden in his eyes.
"Huh?!"
