162: Chapter 162 Surrender or Kill

Buzz!

A massive spatial gate tore through the smoke-filled battlefield, and thousands of exotic beasts poured out, blanketing the sky and land as they surged toward the Japanese Army's positions.

Boundless crimson beast eyes merged into a sea of blood in the smoke, and their deafening roars instantly drowned out the lingering sounds of gunfire and artillery.

Benboba dove rapidly and pulled up, his colorful wings fluttering amidst the flames of war, his shrill cry echoing across the fields.

“Start the slaughter! Push forward on all fronts! Not a single devil gets away today!”

The Messenger Bird Commander barked, and all Messenger Birds relayed the order to the entire herd.

“The Holy Lord orders! Activate Crimson Blood Berserk State! Crush the enemy lines regardless of losses!”

The lens of the Mechanical Staff Officer floating beside Mo Yufei flashed rapidly, and its cold electronic broadcast spread across the entire battlefield.

"[The enemy position has deployed special high-explosive shells, which possess lethal destructive capabilities.]"

"[Our side will suffer large-scale casualties, but we can forcefully break through their defensive line relying on our absolute numerical advantage.]"

On the Japanese Army's high-ground command post, the Colonel tightly gripped the intelligence file, his expression shifting unpredictably.

Long before the counteroffensive, intelligence personnel hidden in Tianzhong City had sent back urgent reports, clearly stating that a terrifyingly massive wave of unknown giant beasts had appeared in the city, turning the entire city into a slaughterhouse. This news had already spread throughout the various companies of the Japanese Army.

A Major beside him took half a step forward, suppressing the surging dread in his heart, his voice trembling: “Sir, it really is the beast herd from the intelligence! It's exactly as the intelligence department described; their numbers are simply countless!”

The ordinary soldiers on the front lines watched the massive exotic beasts charging toward them, covering the sky and earth, and instantly erupted into chaos. Panic spread rapidly like a plague.

“They're monsters! They look like the legendary Demonic Beasts!”

“Those Demonic Beasts are invulnerable to weapons. A city was flattened in just half an hour. Can we stop them?”

Many soldiers' hands holding their rifles shook violently as they subconsciously shrank back. The lines showed faint signs of collapsing, panic filling their hearts as wails and whispers rose and fell.

The Japanese Colonel slammed his hand onto the command table and barked sharply to stabilize morale:

“What are you panicking for! The intelligence only said the beast herd ravaged the towns, but it didn't say they could withstand the Imperial Army's special artillery!”

He turned toward the artillery positions and roared his orders, a ruthless confidence reigniting in his eyes. “Pass down the order, load all special high-explosive shells! Blanket the vanguard of the beast herd entirely!”

Flashes of fire lit up simultaneously across the various artillery emplacements on the high ground.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A continuous, deafening barrage of explosions swept across the wilderness. The scorching shockwaves distorted the air as the artillery shells slammed heavily into the cluster of exotic beasts charging at the very front.

Dozens of heavily armored giant beasts leading the charge were instantly engulfed head-on by the artillery fire. Their hard scales shattered inch by inch, and their massive bodies were blown to pieces on the spot, scattering severed limbs and minced flesh mixed with charred blood all over the ground.

Over a thousand other exotic beasts were severely wounded. Their limb bones were shattered, and their Divine Souls were devastated by the violent shockwaves, leaving them collapsed on the ground, wailing in agony, unable to rise and charge again.

Seeing the artillery fire deal actual, heavy damage to the exotic beasts, the panic on the Japanese Army's positions instantly vanished, replaced by wild arrogance.

The soldiers who had shrunk back in fear just moments ago straightened their backs, raised their rifles, and shouted crazily, their laughter carrying thick arrogance across the positions.

“It's working! The artillery can actually kill these monsters!”

“I thought these things were the legendary Demonic Beasts that are invulnerable to weapons, but they're nothing special after all! The defenders in Tianzhong City only suffered a crushing defeat because they didn't have our special artillery!

It seems the weapons made by the elites of the Great Japanese Imperial Army are far superior to that Shi Haidong's!”

The Japanese Colonel threw his head back and laughed, looking down contemptuously at the overwhelming tide of beasts, his tone filled with disdain.

“The intelligence was merely exaggerating. They are just beasts. So what if there are many of them? Could they possibly withstand the Great Japanese Imperial Army's artillery fire?

Keep loading the ammunition! Blanket them round after round and blow them all into minced meat!”

The devils at the artillery positions grew increasingly excited, nimbly repeating the loading and firing process, launching shell after shell continuously into the surging beast herd.

Each round of rumbling took the lives of hundreds of exotic beasts. Layers of beast carcasses quickly piled up at the front lines, with blood thoroughly soaking the scorched earth.

Watching the front lines of the beast tide fall in droves from high in the sky, Benboba circled anxiously within the clouds and shouted down to Mo Yufei.

“Boss! These devils were prepared! This kind of artillery shell is specifically designed to counter us. The casualties on the front line are too heavy!”

Mo Yufei's wings remained perfectly steady as he hovered high in the sky. Not a single ripple of emotion showed in his eyes as he transmitted the command.

“Ignore the casualties. Press forward on all fronts and use our numbers to fill the artillery's kill zone.”

Messenger Birds cruised back and forth across the battlefield, their voices filled with a fearless determination.

“Reserve echelons, step up to the front! Everyone, fight to the death and flatten the enemy's artillery positions!”

The boundless exotic beasts from behind trampled over the mangled remains of their companions and charged forward frantically. Even as they were continuously torn apart and severely wounded by the artillery fire, their charging momentum did not weaken in the slightest.

Even though the Japanese Army's artillery fire was extremely lethal, there were limits to their ammunition, barrel cooling, and manual reloading.

Under the continuous, high-intensity bombardment, the gun barrels burned red-hot and deformed. Many artillery pieces directly backfired and were ruined, while their ammunition reserves rapidly depleted.

An artilleryman operating a cannon was drenched in cold sweat, his movements frantic and disorganized as he lost his voice screaming:

“Sir, we can't hold on! The monsters are endless! As soon as we kill one batch, another immediately takes its place! The ammunition is about to run out!”

At the machine gun positions, the devils' gun barrels overheated and jammed. Watching the shadows of the giant beasts drawing closer and closer, the arrogance on their faces faded bit by bit, replaced once again by sheer terror.

The smile on the Japanese Colonel's face froze completely. He stared intently at the endless tide of beasts breaking through the artillery coverage zone, the last of his confidence utterly collapsing.

After paying the heavy price of hundreds of exotic beasts killed and thousands severely injured, the beast tide finally broke through the artillery blockade.

The colossal beasts crashed violently into the high-ground artillery batteries. The steel gun carriages collapsed on the spot, and the artillerymen who had no time to flee were swallowed by the giant beasts in an instant. All artillery fire fell completely silent.

Without the support of heavy artillery, the Japanese Army instantly became meat on a chopping board.

The exotic beasts' sharp claws slashed, and their massive jaws snapped.

The lined-up ranks of Japanese soldiers were instantly torn apart, sent flying, and trampled.

The devils who had been fiercely counterattacking just a moment ago collapsed across all fronts in the blink of an eye.

Their formations disintegrated, command lines severed, weapons abandoned as the entire force fled in panic.

The Japanese Colonel felt ice-cold all over as he watched the special artillery array he was so proud of get annihilated in an instant.

“Impossible... We could clearly kill them! It was clearly working! Why can't we kill them all?!”

Benboba laughed wildly in the high sky.

“You can kill one batch! But can you kill them all?!”

“We can afford to die! But you guys only have one life!”

“It's our turn now! It's time to pay back your debts!”

Without the support of their artillery, the Japanese Army no longer possessed even the slightest ability to resist.

The remaining heavy machine gun positions were flipped over by the exotic beasts in a single bite.

The fleeing infantrymen were pounced upon and torn to shreds by the exotic beasts hunting them at high speeds from behind.

The edges of the trenches, the slopes of the high ground, the rear reserve stations...

A bloody reckoning was taking place everywhere.

The Mechanical Staff Officer calmly broadcasted the final battle situation.

"[The enemy's special artillery positions are completely destroyed.]"

"[The Japanese Army's active forces continue to be wiped out.]"

"[Our casualties: 1,027 elite exotic beasts killed, over ten thousand severely injured.]"

"[Enemy's remaining combat strength: 2,354.]"

The remaining Japanese soldiers below fell into utter despair, kneeling on the ground, crying and begging for mercy.

“Spare us! We surrender!”

“Stop killing us!”

Mo Yufei looked down with cold eyes, his chilling voice echoing across the entire battlefield.

“You trampled our Huaxia territory and slaughtered our Huaxia people.”

“No surrender! No mercy!”

With a single command,

the remaining beast tide closed in and slaughtered them.

The last batch of Japanese soldiers kneeling and begging for mercy were completely swallowed by the raging torrent of the beast tide.

The main positions of the North China Japanese Army, which had been roaring with artillery and blazing with fierce flames just minutes ago,

fell into complete, dead silence.

The smoke slowly drifted away.

The hills and fields were covered with the corpses of Japanese soldiers, shattered weapons, and the wrecked remains of exploded artillery batteries.

Countless mangled remains of exotic beasts were piled up in a tangled mess at the front lines.

The bodies of the fallen exotic beasts lay stiff, their blood painting the ground.

The severely wounded exotic beasts crawled and panted, yet their eyes remained fixed on their surroundings, maintaining an alert, combat-ready posture.

They had won.

At the heavy cost of a vast number of exotic beasts killed and wounded,

they had forcefully and completely crushed this main division of the Japanese Invaders that had ravaged North China and stubbornly defended its positions.

Within the trenches,

all the remaining Huaxia soldiers stood in a daze before the mountain of corpses and sea of blood.

Looking at the corpses of the devils scattered everywhere, and looking at the giant beasts that stood in silence, having also suffered heavy casualties...

No one spoke; there was only bone-deep shock.
