72: Chapter 72 An Ambush
Benboba followed closely behind, providing air cover, while Xiao Hei and Xiao Bai guarded Da Bai's sides. Ten battle-scarred androids also engaged their maximum power, keeping close behind Da Bai.
Mo Yufei and his group sprinted deep into the secret realm, the sounds of pursuit behind them gradually fading.
Xiao Hei's nose twitched incessantly, and it kept glancing back, conveying clear thoughts to Mo Yufei.
Those Blood Killing Hall killers were still in hot pursuit; the distance had not been increased at all—in fact, they were closing in bit by bit!
Mo Yufei's heart sank. Crouched on Da Bai's broad back, he panted heavily while thinking rapidly.
Da Bai's speed had become extremely fast after its mutation, and with the beast pets and androids taking turns to obstruct the enemy, they should have shaken off the pursuit long ago. Yet, the enemy was like maggots attached to their bones, biting at their trail without letting go.
"Is it a tracking technique? Or a perception-type ability…" Mo Yufei muttered to himself, instantly grasping the key.
There must be a master tracker in the Blood Killing Hall team, or they were carrying a special tracking treasure, allowing them to ignore terrain and concealment to lock onto his aura.
"Damn it! So persistent! I'm not your mother, stop chasing your mother!" Mo Yufei cursed.
This couldn't go on forever; their stamina would eventually run out, and they would be caught by the killers sooner or later.
Taking advantage of Da Bai dashing into a dense forest, which could temporarily block the pursuers' line of sight, Mo Yufei immediately patted Da Bai's neck and said in a low voice, "Da Bai, stop here. Let's set up an ambush right here. Quick!"
Da Bai stopped in response, stood firmly, and let out a low growl, scanning the surroundings vigilantly.
Mo Yufei flipped off, unable to spare time to ease the soreness in his legs or the panting in his chest, and immediately closed his eyes, connecting his consciousness to the secret realm.
Without hesitation, he directly retrieved the storage boxes for the two types of combat robots.
Time was short, so he couldn't activate all the robots; he precisely selected the attack-type combat robots and the Commander Robot units.
These two models had built-in independent energy cores, allowing them to operate even after disconnecting from the Star Hub network. They also came equipped with complete combat logic and battle programs, far more powerful than the offline service androids, making them the key to the current counterattack.
Space ripples appeared again. Two 2-meter-high metal storage boxes and two 3-meter-high square metal storage boxes dropped out of thin air, crashing heavily onto the ground with a dull thud.
"Everyone come over, quick! Open the boxes!" Mo Yufei commanded the androids beside him.
Upon receiving the order, the ten androids acted immediately. Their damaged mechanical arms gripped the boxes firmly, and using the brute force of their alloy skeletons, they worked together to pry open the box locks.
A harsh sound of metal grating rang out, and in less than 2 seconds, the lids of the four storage boxes were pried open.
Mo Yufei was stunned for a moment when he saw this. "Just brute force it!"
When he had signed for the delivery, the transport robot's mechanical arm had used the button switches on the boxes to open them.
He had intended for them to help open the boxes because he was too slow on his own, but he didn't know if it was because his tone had been too urgent just now, or how their internal programs had interpreted it.
With the storage boxes opened, the full appearance of the four combat robots was revealed. They were completely different from the androids, exuding a piercing aura of battle.
In the box on the left were the four-legged wheeled attack robots. Their overall design resembled a mechanical spider, with a body of angular silver-black alloy. The four mechanical legs were thick and powerful, nested with high-strength buffer components at the joints, and retractable rubber rollers hidden at the bottom of the legs.
Based on the brief introduction in his smart bracelet, Mo Yufei knew that in movement mode, this mobile turret would extend its rollers, and the four legs would retract to form a wheeled chassis, allowing it to dash at high speeds on the ground or leap into the air, flexibly navigating complex terrain.
In attack mode, the rollers would retract, and the four mechanical legs would spread out into stable support struts, biting firmly into the ground without moving an inch.
The robot's back was equipped with a dual-linked compact laser cannon, the barrels glowing with a dark blue energy luster. The cannons came with an automatic targeting and calibration system, capable of rotating in all directions to lock onto targets—a true core of firepower.
Mo Yufei patted the robot's body and smiled. "Let me see the firepower of this big guy."
In the box on the right was the Commander Robot. Its design resembled a humanoid warrior wearing jet-black armor with dark patterns. Its posture was upright and handsome, the armor lines smooth and clean, with geometric patterns engraved on the shoulder and chest plates, full of technological flair, exuding a sharp and cool demeanor.
Only the facial design was slightly strange; it lacked anthropomorphic features, having only a long, narrow holographic sensor light that could project combat data and command signals in real-time.
Looking at the Commander Robot, Mo Yufei felt he had seen it in some anime before.
At its left waist hung a pulse energy gun, and on the right side of its sheath was an alloy combat saber. Its overall proportions were balanced, possessing both command intelligence and close-quarters combat capabilities.
Seeing these powerful combat robots, Mo Yufei let out a sigh of relief.
When this batch of robots arrived, the activation codes had been sent directly to his smart bracelet, so there was no need to rely on the Star Hub network; they could be started with independent authentication.
He immediately raised his wrist and tapped the bracelet screen. A pale blue light screen lit up, and his fingertips quickly entered the activation code and startup command.
"Start program verification, serial number M-YF01, authorize activation of attack-type and Commander Robot combat robots, all batches!"
Once the command was issued, his bracelet instantly connected with the robots' sensor modules. First came basic identity authentication, followed by permission verification, energy matching, and combat system self-checks. A dense stream of authentication procedures flashed by rapidly, with code streams flowing between the robot bodies and the virtual screen emitted by the bracelet.
After a full ten seconds, the underlying core code completed the final lock. The robots' identity information was completely bound to Mo Yufei; from then on, they would only obey him, with no possibility of rebellion.
"Activation successful!"
As the bracelet's notification sound faded, all four robots lit up their work indicator lights simultaneously. The attack robots' laser cannons lifted slightly, and their mechanical legs flexibly extended and adjusted.
The Commander Robot's chest armor lit up, the core energy chamber ran steadily, and the holographic screen on its face glowed with a pale blue light, entering standby command mode.
Mo Yufei dared not delay and explained the current situation with extreme speed: "Blood Killing Hall killers are carrying tracking means and are following closely. The enemy does not know we have added combat units, and their combat strength is unknown."
The two Commander Robots received the basic information about both sides, and their facial holographic screens instantly calculated data at high speed. In less than 3 seconds, they made a combat decision simultaneously.
"The enemy has no long-range heavy firepower and is unaware of our new mecha firepower. We suggest immediately setting up an ambush zone. Utilize the perception beast to lock onto the enemy's precise location, manipulate the attack robots to pre-charge their laser cannons, and catch the enemy off guard. Based on the surrounding terrain, an ambush point has already been planned."
Mo Yufei nodded immediately; this plan was exactly what he wanted.
He immediately looked at Xiao Hei and focused his mind to transmit the command: "Xiao Hei, perceive the pursuers behind with all your might and lock onto their precise location and distance. I will synchronize this information to the robots!"
Xiao Hei's nose twitched frantically, telling Mo Yufei the information about the pursuers it perceived, and Mo Yufei then relayed it to the Commander Robots.
Meanwhile, the two Commander Robots quickly divided the labor. The two four-legged wheeled attack robots moved rapidly to a concealed position in the rear and switched to attack mode.
The four mechanical legs bit firmly into the ground, the dual-linked laser cannons on their backs slowly lifted, and the muzzles began to gather pale blue energy, entering a silent charging state, waiting only for the pursuers to step into the ambush zone to launch a fatal strike instantly.
