26: Chapter 26 Chaos
There was still a mishap during the process. Due to a momentary lapse in concentration, the positive and negative terminals of three batteries were connected in reverse. As soon as the circuit was connected, a wisp of black smoke instantly rose, accompanied by a faint sizzling sound. The batteries immediately overheated and were ruined, becoming completely unusable.
Looking at the ruined batteries, Mo Yufei felt heartbroken, but he could only force himself to pull it together, reorganize the wiring, correct the mistake, and carefully reconnect everything.
It wasn't until the sun began to shift across the horizon and the final wire was plugged into place that the controller's normal operation indicator light turned on. The entire solar power system finally started running, continuously converting solar energy into electricity and storing it in the battery bank.
Mo Yufei slumped to the ground, gasping for air, his body feeling as if all his strength had been drained away. Watching the solar power system running successfully before him, he felt exhausted, yet filled with a sense of complete reassurance.
Mo Yufei casually opened his space and released all the chickens, ducks, and geese he had been raising inside in one go.
The once quiet, secluded, and spiritually tranquil secret realm instantly exploded into chaos.
The first chickens to land flapped their wings and scurried everywhere, their sharp clucking sounds rising one after another. The startled hens flew around, sending fallen leaves scattering across the ground.
The roosters strutted about with their heads held high and chests puffed out, stretching their necks from time to time to crow loudly, their clear cries echoing throughout the secret realm.
Groups of ducks waddled and ran in all directions, quacking incessantly, bumping into rock walls and bushes in their panic.
The large white geese stretched their necks, patrolling aggressively and flapping their wide wings as they chased the other poultry around.
Dust flew, feathers drifted, and the once clean and elegant spiritual land suddenly became a mess, with chickens and ducks running everywhere and noisy sounds ringing in the ears incessantly.
The entire courtyard was so noisy it made one's scalp tingle.
Just then, a duck waddled slowly past Mo Yufei's feet and, without warning, dropped a pile of runny feces right next to them—pungent and disgusting.
Mo Yufei looked down, and instantly, a surge of anger rushed straight to his head.
"What the f*ck! Ugh!"
Looking up again, the courtyard that had originally been clean and neatly organized was now an eyesore.
On the ground and under the RV, there was scattered poultry feces everywhere, piles here and there. The soil was trampled into a mess, covered in chicken feathers and weeds—it was filthy and chaotic, a distressing sight at a single glance.
Mo Yufei felt a wave of irritation and frustration, feeling both disgusted and mentally exhausted.
He had originally thought raising some chickens and ducks would make getting meat more convenient, but who knew it would be such a hassle? They were noisy all day, giving him no peace, and they defecated everywhere, making everything dirty and smelly. Cleaning up after them every day was endless—it was simply too torturous.
If he had to deal with the noise and the filth every day, he would lose his mind.
Mo Yufei could no longer tolerate it. With a gloomy expression, he began gathering the incessantly noisy chickens and ducks one by one back into his space. Not wanting to stay a moment longer, he drove directly toward the small river in the secret realm.
The river flowed from east to west, perfectly dividing the entire secret realm in two. The water was very shallow, only reaching above the calves.
Mo Yufei rolled up his pant legs and waded barefoot across the river, moving all the poultry to the other bank. He then set up two large tents to serve as shelters for them.
He had no experience in animal husbandry himself, so he simply couldn't be bothered to put effort into caring for them.
Watching the chickens and ducks scatter, he let out a huge sigh of relief and thought to himself, "From now on, just stay here and fend for yourselves. There are enough bugs and weeds in the wild for you to survive. Forage for your own food and be self-sufficient. Just don't ever come back to wreak havoc on my courtyard again. Just stay here quietly, and that will be fine."
After dealing with the chickens and ducks, Mo Yufei felt much more at ease.
He remembered that he still had quite a few fish and shrimp collected from various places in his space. Besides common edible aquatic products, there was also a large group of brightly colored, high-quality ornamental fish.
These fish were exquisite and beautiful in appearance, with shimmering scales and high ornamental value, but their meat was poor and simply not tasty.
Before transmigrating, he had been very fond of keeping fish. He always kept a small fish tank at home and liked these beautiful fish species, so naturally, he couldn't bear to throw them into the big lake to be mixed with the rough fish.
So, he walked straight to the right side of the courtyard and found the parked excavator.
After fumbling around for a long time, stumbling and acting quite clumsily, he finally managed to barely figure out the operating method.
He controlled the mechanical arm to dig scoop by scoop, moving slowly but with great concentration, bit by bit excavating a neat little pond.
Afterwards, he connected a water pipe to bring in the water source from the big lake outside, and the water flowed in slowly.
Before long, the small pond was completely filled with clean water.
However, the freshly dug soil was soft and muddy, so the water in the pond was a murky yellow color, completely opaque, and one couldn't see the bottom at all.
After dumping all the edible fish and shrimp into the big lake next to his residence, Mo Yufei suddenly remembered the ornamental fish that weren't suitable for mixed keeping.
He had always liked keeping fish, but before he transmigrated, he couldn't fit that many fish tanks in his home.
The ornamental fish in his space that hadn't been moved yet were still in their original glass tanks. He carefully moved the tanks into the living room of the RV, which served as his temporary residence, and placed them steadily.
One of the large glass tanks contained a school of delicate and lively tetra fish. They were a small species, their bodies shimmering with fine fluorescent light. When they swam in schools, they looked like a handful of moving starlight, appearing exceptionally exquisite.
In another separate fish tank, there was only one Arowana. Its scales were golden and translucent, and its body was sleek and imposing. It swayed its fins slowly, exuding a sense of nobility; it absolutely could not be kept with other fish.
As for the small pond just dug on the right side of the courtyard, although it was connected to the big lake with a water pipe and filled with water, the soil at the bottom had just been turned, so the pool was murky and full of silt, making it temporarily unsuitable for fish.
Mo Yufei wasn't in a hurry. He planned to wait for the pond water to slowly clear up before moving the other ornamental fish suitable for still-water breeding over. It would fulfill his wish to enjoy watching fish in his spare time.
After dealing with the fish and shrimp, the only things left suitable for farming were the few rabbits collected from the pet store.
Rabbits are docile and clean, unlike chickens and ducks, which are noisy, messy, and defecate everywhere, so Mo Yufei wasn't in a rush to deal with them.
Mo Yufei simply set up a small tent next to the tool truck to serve as a temporary hutch for the rabbits, providing shelter from the wind and rain.
For now, he would keep these few rabbits here.
He calculated in his mind that once the rabbits gradually multiplied and their numbers increased, he would move them all together to the open wasteland on the other side of the river, keeping them separated from the chickens and ducks, and leaving them all to fend for themselves in the secret realm, so they would no longer occupy his own courtyard.
After managing the poultry and fish both inside and outside the courtyard, Mo Yufei turned his gaze toward his space, finally looking at those five small animals that hadn't mutated but had unexpectedly awakened supernatural abilities.
In the space, two cats and one black dog were staying quietly in their cages, their eyes gentle, with no extra movement.
That snow-white White Ferret was still maintaining its posture from when it released the lightning. Its fur was slightly bristled, and tiny sparks of electricity seemed to still be lingering around its body, frozen in place for a long time without moving.
And the Parrot next to it still held the posture from after it had unleashed the Wind Blade. Its little head was tense, its round eyes wide open, and its face was full of a terrified, shaken expression—clearly, it hadn't yet recovered from its previous state.
