67: Chapter 67 Discovered Your Kind

The Federal Agent sitting opposite leaned forward slightly, locked eyes on Mo Yufei again, and immediately threw out the next question.

"Since the Pangu, Nüwa, Prophet Fuxi, and others you mentioned were all great powers of the tribe before the Sky Collapse, with such strong figures guarding and protecting you, why did your tribe completely vanish?

Why wasn't even a trace of civilization left behind? According to the data we possess, you falling into a deep slumber alone in the Fragment World was certainly no accident. What kind of calamity occurred to lead you to such a state?"

The Federal Agent responsible for recording hovered their fingertips over the virtual keyboard, eyes fixed intently on Mo Yufei's expression, fearing to miss even the slightest micro-expression. The atmosphere in the entire interrogation room instantly tightened again, and the air seemed to stagnate.

Mo Yufei's fingertips curled slightly of their own accord, while in his heart, he was quickly calculating how to bamboozle these two.

There was still no excess expression on Mo Yufei's face; he intentionally cast a faint layer of melancholy over his brows and eyes, perfectly feigning the appearance of someone touching upon painful past events.

"The tribe becoming what it is today was never a disaster that happened overnight.

After the Sky Collapse, the exotic beasts in the Fragment World multiplied day by day, growing stronger with each passing day, their ferocity far exceeding what it was before.

Our tribal leaders and the various high-ranking members were ancient existences from before the Sky Collapse; their innate cultivation had long reached its limit, and their lifespans were gradually exhausting.

Without new strong figures to succeed them, they eventually passed away one after another, and no one was left to hold up the barrier protecting the tribe."

Mo Yufei paused, his hand hanging by his side clenching slightly, his tone becoming heavier: "Before passing away, the Prophet Fuxi deduced the heavenly secrets and calculated that our world would eventually merge with the Main World in the future.

But given the tribe's circumstances at the time, with exotic beasts circling outside and no strong figures to protect us from within, we couldn't possibly hold out until the day of the merger; we would have inevitably perished and vanished sooner or later.

The remaining high-ranking members deliberated for a long time and finally made the decision to seal all the tribespeople in batches, in order to preserve the foundation of our bloodline."

"The locations of the seals were scattered across various spiritual pulse nodes—what you call the Fragment World.

We feared that if everyone was gathered in one place, once the exotic beasts detected our tracks and broke the seals, the entire tribe would be wiped out, completely severing our bloodline.

After I woke up, I also followed the marks in my memory to search for my tribespeople at other seal points, but so many years have passed, and the world has long since been turned upside down.

The original terrain and landscape have completely changed; let alone the traces of my tribespeople, even the ruins of our Yanhuang Tribe have vanished without a trace, and not a single mark can be found."

Speaking of this, Mo Yufei lifted his eyes slightly, his gaze looking out the window, his eyes hollow yet carrying a trace of obsession.

"The leaders once told us that as long as one person from the tribe is still alive, the Yanhuang Tribe is not considered to have disappeared, and the faith in our bones will never perish."

As his voice fell, he waved his hand lightly, and a faint spatial fluctuation rippled from his fingertips. A square jade seal slowly emerged from the void and landed in his palm.

Mo Yufei spoke: "This is the token of our Yanhuang Tribe; every descendant of the Yanhuang knows what this is!"

The jade quality of this seal looked ordinary and could not be considered rare. Five vivid golden dragons coiled on the top. On the side of the seal body, there was a very obvious golden repair mark, with regular patterns, as if it were deliberately patched to cover a defect. The bottom was flat and engraved with eight archaic and strange runes, which looked obscure and difficult to distinguish.

This was no ancient token; it was merely a replica of the Imperial Seal that Mo Yufei had stumbled upon in a street handicraft shop while wandering a city in his zombie form during his last traversal.

It was just an ordinary decorative ornament, but now he was using it to pass off as a tribal token.

Once the jade seal appeared, the two Federal Agents, who had previously been indifferent, instantly sat up straight, their expressions suddenly becoming solemn and serious, not daring to be the least bit negligent.

One of them immediately pulled a palm-sized circular scanning device from their jacket pocket, aimed it at the jade seal, and pressed the start button. A pale blue scanning beam slowly swept across the seal body, and data streams scrolled rapidly on the device's screen.

A moment later, the scan finished. Looking at the results fed back by the device, the Federal Agent spoke in a deep voice: "No energy fluctuations were detected. There are no law runes engraved on the seal body, and the material composition is unknown; it is not within the registration scope of any existing material database of the Federation.

The material characteristics do not match any known minerals or jade in this world; it looks... like it comes from outside the realm, not belonging to this world.

With the Federation's current technological level, replicating this craftsmanship and material is entirely possible, but synthesizing this unknown substance would consume a tremendous amount of energy and materials."

The other Federal Agent stared intently at the jade seal, their eyes full of inquiry. Looking at Mo Yufei, their tone became a bit more respectful: "May I pick it up to examine it closely?"

Mo Yufei nodded indifferently, his tone calm: "You may."

The Federal Agent carefully took the jade seal, which felt heavy in their hand. First, they examined the five golden dragons on the top, and their brows furrowed unconsciously.

Their fingertips lightly brushed over the dragon patterns, whispering: "This exotic beast pattern has never appeared in the ancient exotic beast atlas recorded by the Federation. Its form is strange, and it doesn't look like any known species in the Fragment World."

They slowly flipped the jade seal over and stared at the eight strange runes on the bottom. Their brows furrowed even tighter. They immediately called up the Federal translation terminal on their wrist, scanned and entered the complete runes, and started the translation program.

The terminal screen flickered for a few seconds, and the translation result popped up immediately. The Federal Agent softly read out the translation: "Fate comes from Heaven, therefore life is infinite."

Mo Yufei caught a glimpse of the translation result out of the corner of his eye and almost laughed out loud in his heart, but on the surface, he still maintained a solemn and calm appearance, not daring to reveal even the slightest bit of emotion.

He knew clearly that what was engraved on the bottom of this handicraft was clearly the ancient Chinese seal script "Received from Heaven, may you live forever and prosper."

The true meaning is "Since I have accepted the command of Heaven to rule the world, my national fortune should be long-lasting, and the people should be forever peaceful and healthy."

Being directly translated by the Federation's translation system, it had instead become such an absurd and ridiculous sentence, yet the two Federal Agents were still wearing serious expressions, completely failing to notice the flaw in it.

The two Federal Agents were still repeatedly examining the imitation Imperial Seal in their hands, their fingertips rubbing the golden dragon patterns on the seal body, attempting to find more hidden clues from this seemingly ordinary jade.

Just at this moment, a burst of urgent pale blue light suddenly lit up. The communication bracelet on the wrist of the Federal Agent on the right, who was responsible for scanning, suddenly vibrated, emitting a subtle buzzing sound that broke the silence in the room.

The Federal Agent was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly placed the jade seal back on the table, nodded slightly to Mo Yufei, their tone carrying a hint of hurried apology.

"Mr. Mo, I apologize, I need to take an urgent communication first." After finishing, they walked quickly to the corner of the interrogation room, turned their back, and pressed the answer button.

At first, they were just listening quietly, standing straight, but after a few seconds, their shoulders suddenly tensed, and their originally calm tone gradually became tinged with irrepressible excitement.

Their speaking speed also accelerated, occasionally responding in a low voice, and from time to time, short phrases like "Are you sure?", "Is the coordinate verification correct?", and "Lock the location immediately" could be heard, their emotional fluctuations being particularly obvious.

In just half a minute, they ended the communication. The moment they pressed the close button, the original serious scrutiny on their face faded away completely, replaced by intense joy and excitement.

They walked quickly back to the table, looking at Mo Yufei with shining eyes, their tone full of irrepressible delight, their voice even rising slightly.

"Mr. Mo! I have some incredibly good news for you!"

They spoke, unable to hide their excitement, not even bothering to compose their expression, and said eagerly: "Headquarters just sent an urgent communication; our Federal field investigators at the spiritual pulse node in the Fragment World have discovered another indigenous survivor. Their vital signs are stable. They must be your fellow tribesman—one of your people from the Yanhuang Tribe!"

Once these words were spoken, Mo Yufei's heart sank suddenly, but on the surface, he instantly revealed a perfectly timed expression of astonishment and surprise.

Feigning disbelief, his voice carried a trembling expectation: "Are you telling the truth? You really found my fellow tribesman? I thought... I thought I was the only one left..."

However, Mo Yufei's hand hanging under the table clenched quietly, his fingertips turning white, his mind racing.

The Yanhuang Tribe he fabricated was inherently non-existent, and the so-called tribespeople were all lies. Now that the Federation had suddenly found this so-called "fellow tribesman," was it a coincidence, or was it a test deliberately set by the other party?

Once they met, all the lies would collapse on their own, and this carefully woven scam would likely face its biggest variable.

Meanwhile, the two Federal Agents, seeing his genuine reaction, saw the last trace of doubt in their eyes dissipate for the most part.

They simply assumed he was weeping with joy after long searching for his fellow tribesman without success, completely failing to notice the undercurrents and wariness already surging beneath the calm exterior of the person before them.

PS: This discovered fellow tribesman—1. a true indigenous person of the secret realm, or 2. a fellow countryman who transmigrated from Earth—which kind is better? Feel free to discuss.
