28: Chapter 28 The Busy Tyrant
After cleaning up, the sky inside the Taoyuan Secret Realm gradually darkened.
The five small animals followed closely behind Mo Yufei as they walked into the kitchen together to prepare dinner.
Mo Yufei first arranged food for each of the little ones.
The dog was the easiest to raise; it just ate whatever he ate, though he specifically prepared the meal to be light, with less oil and salt, making it simple and palatable.
Then, he took canned meat out of the cabinet, opened it, and shared it with the cats and the White Ferret. The two little ones immediately crowded around to eat, behaving exceptionally well.
Finally, only the Parrot remained. The storage room was stocked with quite a few grain seeds, just enough for feeding.
He suddenly remembered that the Parrot also loved eating fruits and vegetables, but at the moment, there were only a few fruits left that had been collected before the outbreak of The Apocalypse, and the amount was extremely small, not nearly enough to last long.
The five little ones stayed quietly to the side, each burying their heads to eat.
The dog ate the light meal in big mouthfuls, its tail wagging gently and incessantly, docile and well-behaved.
The cats and the White Ferret gathered around the canned meat, nibbling in small bites, eating until their mouths were full of flavor, occasionally nuzzling affectionately against the corner of his clothes.
The Parrot landed on the edge of the table, pecking at the grain seeds, occasionally tilting its head to look around.
The sky had completely darkened; inside the Taoyuan Secret Realm, it was quiet and peaceful. Outside, the cold winds of The Apocalypse raged, but here, it was warm and calm.
Mo Yufei looked at the dog, two cats, White Ferret, and Parrot beside him, feeling a bit more at ease.
Yet, thinking of the few remaining fruits, he frowned slightly.
The fruit and vegetable reserves were too scarce; in the future, if he wanted to raise this group of little ones well, he would have to slowly find ways to collect supplies.
Mo Yufei ate his meal quietly, his gaze resting on the five little ones beside him, his eyes soft.
Watching them eating quietly, he suddenly realized something.
Previously, when the Parrot spoke through its psychic ability, it had stated the names of the other four companions one by one, clearly and distinctly.
Yet from beginning to end, it had never mentioned its own name.
His heart stirred slightly. He looked up at the colorful bird perched on the edge of the table, pecking at the grains, and asked curiously and gently, "You know everyone else's names, so why haven't you mentioned what your name is?"
Hearing the voice, the Parrot tilted its head, stopped eating, and looked at him with spirited eyes.
Mo Yufei watched the Parrot pecking at the grains and asked softly, "You know their four names clearly, so why don't you say what your own name is?"
The Parrot shook its feathers, tilted its head slightly, and spoke in a crisp and loud voice, "I am truly forgetful and forgot to introduce myself; my name is Benboerba."
Pfft—Mo Yufei couldn't hold it in and sprayed a mouthful of rice right out on the spot.
He stood there stunned, his face a mix of laughter and tears. The other little animals had cute and normal names, but this Parrot was named Benboerba—it was truly absurd and hilarious.
Beside him, the dog, cats, and White Ferret also stopped eating, all tilting their heads in unison to look at their boss, looking confused.
The Parrot flapped its wings twice and added in a flat tone, "I also have a brother named Benboba, who was bought by someone else long ago."
Mo Yufei had just wiped the rice grains from the corner of his mouth, and upon hearing this, he almost sprayed it out again.
So these two brothers were Benboerba and Benboba—a perfect match.
The cats, dog, and White Ferret nearby were all blank-faced, completely unable to understand this absurd name, just huddling quietly to the side, watching their boss who was caught between laughter and tears.
He really couldn't help but chuckle, looking at the Parrot before him with its natural comedic talent, and instantly felt that things were much more interesting.
Benboerba clearly didn't understand how funny its name was; it just felt that its name had one more character than the other little animals, making it extra majestic, and it carried a hint of pride in its heart.
Mo Yufei looked at its head-held-high posture and just smiled gently, not teasing it any further.
In this vast secret realm, he was usually all alone, cold and lonely.
Now, to have five little creatures by his side that could truly communicate, understand human hearts, and speak was already very precious.
The dinner was quiet and warm. As the night slowly shrouded the entire secret realm and the little ones around him were docile and dependent, at this moment, the loneliness seemed to have dissipated by more than half.
After finishing dinner, Mo Yufei closed the kitchen door and took the five little ones toward the main RV.
Once the door opened, the cats and the White Ferret moved nimbly, darting into the living room in a flash, and curled up as soon as they saw the sofa.
The Parrot, Benboerba, circled the small carriage, its claws firmly gripping the TV frame, landing directly on top of the unit, curiously looking around.
The dog, Xiao Hei, lay quietly beside the sofa, full and relaxed, preparing to rest early.
Mo Yufei walked straight into the RV bathroom.
Although this body had just been condensed today, after working continuously for a whole day, both his body and mind were extremely exhausted.
Coupled with the long time spent wandering in The Apocalypse outside, it had been a full month since he had been able to take a proper, peaceful bath.
The warm water poured down from the showerhead, washing away the exhaustion and dust from his body, and the misty steam instantly filled the entire small RV bathroom.
Mo Yufei raised his hand to wipe the water droplets from his face, lowering his eyes to gaze quietly at his own body in the mirror.
This body, which had just condensed into form, had firm and well-proportioned skin, without a single scar, nor any trace of the roughness left behind by wandering in The Apocalypse.
It was exactly the same as when his consciousness first awakened; it had not changed in the slightest because he had once turned into a zombie.
His fingertips gently brushed over his arm; the sensation was real yet carried a hint of unreal illusion. His heart stirred, and subconsciously, he recited in his mind to open the attribute panel.
The next second, a light blue, semi-transparent screen that only he could see appeared directly before his eyes amidst the misty steam. The text on the screen appeared clearly, not blurred in the slightest by the water vapor, quietly displaying all his current statuses.
