167: Chapter 167 Abnormal Blood Moon
Orders were issued in an orderly manner.
The army of three hundred thousand, like a giant steel python, began to slowly "burrow" into the twenty-meter diameter passage, pouring into the world beneath the blood moon.
Though the process was slow, it was conducted in perfect order.
When the last squad of soldiers disappeared into the passage entrance, Lin Tian lightly patted Chi Yan's neck.
Chi Yan let out a snort and, carrying him, unhurriedly walked toward the entrance. Lin Yin followed closely behind him like a silent shadow.
The moment they crossed the passage, they were immediately enveloped by an even denser aura of death, filth, and madness that had almost materialized into substance.
Even with the scorching Dragon Flame naturally radiating from Chi Yan to dispel some of the chill, Lin Tian still felt his skin tighten slightly.
Once he was fully within this alien dimension,
He reined in Chi Yan and looked out. Even though he was mentally prepared, waves of emotion still surged in his heart.
The sky was an eternal weave of leaden gray and dark red, hanging so low it seemed within reach.
There were no clouds, no stars—only that pulsating, filthy blood moon that occupied more than half of the firmament.
It emitted a disturbing dark red glow, staining everything on the ground with a sickly, blood-colored hue.
As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but an endless, lifeless wasteland.
Twisted black rocks resembled the withered bones of giant beasts, and the cracked earth seeped a viscous, foul-smelling dark liquid.
Shadowy figures loomed in the distance, appearing to be the outlines of collapsed buildings with bizarre architecture, but they were all severely damaged and covered in a writhing darkness that seemed alive.
The army of three hundred thousand deployed across this vast, silent wasteland. Though they remained disciplined and brimming with Killing Intent,
They appeared somewhat insignificant when compared to the boundless, eerie emptiness.
"This hellish place..."
Lin Tian cursed under his breath, looking up at the blood moon that seemed to look down upon all living beings, his brow furrowed.
He suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Lin Yin beside him, asking in a voice only the two of them could hear:
"Lin Yin, does your 'Moonlight Power'... have any resonance with this kind of 'moon'? Or rather, is there a way to... 'deal' with it?"
He asked somewhat vaguely, but Lin Yin instantly understood his meaning.
He was asking if she could use Moonlight Power to influence or even attack this eerie blood moon.
Lin Yin also looked up, her cool eyes reflecting the blood moon as she felt it quietly for a moment.
Then she slowly shook her head. Her voice remained steady, but it carried a rare trace of gravity:
"Brother Tian, my power originates from the essence of 'purity', 'coolness', 'protection', and 'exorcism' within the concept of the 'moon'."
"But this 'moon'... its essence is 'filth', 'madness', 'erosion', and 'chaos'. It is not a true moon, but more like a..."
"Projection of a massive source of pollution. My power cannot directly 'conquer' or dispel it. Forcing contact might result in reverse contamination."
Hearing this, a flash of understanding crossed Lin Tian's eyes. He nodded, not feeling too disappointed.
"As I thought, there's a problem... It seems this thing is likely the source of the pollution in this space, or at least a major component of it."
"To solve the problem here, we probably won't be able to avoid it in the end."
He stopped dwelling on the blood moon and instead summoned the Void Ranger squad leader who had been responsible for opening the passage earlier.
The squad leader stepped forward quickly and saluted by placing a hand over his chest.
"This passage,"
Lin Tian pointed to the pitch-black circular hole suspended in mid-air behind him, its edges rippling with energy.
"You opened it by force using the 'Dimensional Rending Arrow'. How long can it last? Will it close on its own?"
The squad leader replied immediately with a certain tone:
"Reporting to the Lord, if no one maintains it, relying solely on the space's own tendency to 'heal', this temporary passage can last for about six hours. But..."
He paused and glanced back at his companions who were adjusting their breathing.
"We can continuously input stable spatial energy into it to counteract the space's rejection."
"In theory, as long as the energy is continuous, the passage can remain open until we actively close it or the energy is exhausted."
"Oh? You can actively maintain it?"
Lin Tian raised an eyebrow, feeling somewhat surprised and delighted.
The spatial abilities brought by the Void Ranger class truly brought him convenience time and again.
"That saves a lot of trouble. I really wasn't sure how long we'd have to toss around in this hellish place before finding and dealing with the pollution core."
After a moment of deliberation, he made a decision:
"Good! Then you will be responsible for inputting spatial energy to keep the passage stable and open. This is our retreat route and our supply line; there must be no mistakes!"
"Yes! Lord!"
The squad leader took the order and immediately turned to arrange his companions.
They began to input that strange energy for maintaining spatial stability into the passage in organized shifts.
The fluctuations at the edge of the passage became visibly more stable and smooth.
With the retreat route secured, Lin Tian's heart was completely at ease.
He turned his gaze back to the boundless, eerie wasteland under the blood moon, his eyes flashing with sharpness and inquiry.
"Alright, the worries about our rear are resolved."
He took a deep breath of the foul air. His voice wasn't loud, but it reached the ears of the surrounding generals clearly.
"Now, it's time to see exactly what kind of hellish things are hidden in this 'tumor' world that dumps monsters at our doorstep like trash."
"Lin Feng, scout ahead! Lin Yin, take charge of the rear guard! Everyone else, maintain formation. We... move forward!"
This alien dimension, thoroughly polluted and eternally shrouded by the blood moon,
Was indeed a poisonous thorn in the side of Lintian City, a hidden danger that could erupt at any moment.
But looking at it from another perspective...
Lin Tian sat atop Chi Yan, looking around at his three hundred thousand troops advancing steadily and in good order, then toward the wasteland where countless twisted figures were hidden in the silence.
A "greedy" smile slowly curled at the corners of his mouth.
"This hellish place might be a bit polluted,"
He muttered to himself, as if convincing himself or stating an obvious fact.
"But for the soldiers under my command... the ground is covered in Experience Packs!"
And wasn't it true?
As far as the eye could see, the wandering and lurking Polluted Monsterss were at least Bronze Advanced-tier, and there were plenty of Gold-tier ones as well.
If this were outside, how much effort and risk would it take to search for them across the mountains and fields?
Here, it was practically a "buffet" delivered right to their mouths!
Furthermore, looking at the scale of this space and the boundless silence, there might be even "juicier" targets hidden in the depths.
More importantly, if they could completely clear out this source of pollution, based on the characteristics of the "Heavenly Dao", the rewards would likely be substantial.
