25: Chapter 25 Infrastructure
The troops were clearly demarcated yet unified: on the left flank, one hundred Moon Shadow Archers, led by Lin Yin. Their presence was nimble and ethereal, the bowstrings humming softly.
In the center, one hundred Heavy Armored Spearmen, led by Lin Feng. Their armor was bright, their long spears like a forest, their sharpness fully exposed.
On the right flank, one hundred Rock Armor Soldiers and Mystic Rock Spirit Guards, led by Lin Yan. They were as steady and heavy as mountains, with ten of the Mystic Rock Spirit Guards acting as the pillars of strength.
Three hundred pairs of eyes looked in unison at Lin Tian on the high platform, their gazes filled with loyalty, anticipation, and high-spirited fighting intent.
Looking at this team before him—now taking shape, complete with all unit types, and surging with momentum—an indescribable sense of pride and ambition welled up in Lin Tian's chest. He took a deep breath, his voice booming and carrying across the entire territory:
"Three hundred soldiers! Today, our army is formed!"
His gaze was burning as he scanned the field: "Now, I order: Lin Yin, Lin Yan, and Lin Feng, each lead one hundred men, divided into three squads, with the three unit types evenly distributed in each squad!"
"Go retrieve the food left from yesterday and eat breakfast. After eating, with our territory as the core, Lin Yin's squad will head north, Lin Yan's squad will head southwest, and Lin Feng's squad will head southeast, fanning out to push forward five kilometers!"
"Your mission is to clear out all visible monster threats around the territory, collect all usable resources, and explore unknown areas!"
"Remember, focus on clearing and hunting. If you encounter enemies you cannot defeat, retreat and contact me immediately! Before dark, you must return to the territory to assemble!"
"Yes! Lord!" The three hundred people roared in unison, the sound wave shaking the sky and startling countless birds.
After finishing breakfast, the three captains quickly organized their troops. The three hundred-man squads, like three surging torrents, carried an aura of grim determination and a desire to grow stronger as they rushed out of the territory's protective barrier, surging toward three different directions.
Lin Tian stood alone on the high platform, watching his own strength rush off in all directions. The morning sun gilded his tall, upright figure.
On his face, the previous playfulness and casualness were gone, replaced by a nascent, determined, and deep ambition that belonged to a pioneer.
"Three hundred people... is just a starting point." He whispered to himself, clenching his fist. "On this Eternal Continent, one day, I will have my flag planted across all unknown territories!"
The territory temporarily returned to emptiness, but the fighting spirit and hope permeating the air were richer than ever before. Lin Tian turned around and began to plan the next phase of the territory's development and construction.
He did not choose to follow any of the teams. Lin Tian had full confidence in this army under his command; they were well-equipped, had a complete mix of unit types, and were operating as full hundred-man squads.
On this third day of the Eternal Continent, unless they were extremely unlucky, he believed his warriors were capable of handling most threats.
He thought, "If three hundred fully armed elites get wiped out just from clearing some wild monsters, then how are other Lords supposed to play? They might as well just go find a block of tofu to smash their heads against." He turned his attention back to the interior of the territory.
"The soldiers are fighting on the front lines; I, as the Lord, cannot just be a hands-off manager. I need to properly renovate our base camp, at least so that when the brothers return, they have a decent place to stay, can eat a hot meal, and take a bath." He made up his mind to take this time to properly reorganize the territory.
His gaze swept over the pile of blueprints and materials purchased from the Trading Platform yesterday, and Lin Tian rubbed his hands together, ready to do some serious work.
First was the accommodation issue. With three hundred people, the original Barracks were far from enough. He pulled up the construction interface and waved his hand: "Build! Build as much as you can!" White light flashed repeatedly, consuming a large amount of wood, and five brand-new Level 1 Barracks rose from the ground.
Next, he upgraded the original five Level 1 Barracks, along with the five newly built ones, all to Level 2 Barracks!
In the blink of an eye, 30 neat wooden Barracks stood in the territory, each capable of accommodating 10 people, for a total capacity of 300. The accommodation conditions were greatly improved.
Looking at the wood reserves in the resource bar that had been instantly cleared out, Lin Tian scratched his head, feeling a bit amused and helpless: "Well, other Lords worry about not having enough soldiers, but here I am, worrying about not having enough houses... Does this count as a 'sweet trouble'?"
wood was in short supply, but that could not stump him. He immediately used 100 Spirit Crystals on the Trading Platform to exchange for 1200 units of wood. "It seems more people went out hunting today, so the exchange rate for Spirit Crystals has dropped." He keenly sensed the market change.
He still had 30 Spirit Crystals left, so he decisively purchased 2 [Warehouse Building Blueprints (One-time)] and 1 [Kitchen Building Blueprint (One-time)]. Then, he used the two [Public Toilet Blueprints] and two [Simple Bathhouse Blueprints] he had purchased yesterday.
Soon, on both sides of the Barracks area, two public toilets and two bathhouses with simple cubicles appeared; though they were rudimentary, they were fully functional.
He planned the Barracks into two areas, front and back, with five in each, leaving a passage and a training field in the middle. The two Level 1 Warehouses (each capable of storing 1000 standard units of supplies) were built next to the Barracks for easy access. The kitchen was right next to the warehouse.
The remaining wood and some iron ore were used to craft daily necessities: ten heavy large iron pots, several iron shovels, a full five hundred wooden bowls ("This stuff really saves materials; one unit of wood produces 20 bowls!"), 100 wooden buckets, and fifty wooden and iron basins.
After all this work, the originally empty and rudimentary territory suddenly became "bustling":
Neat Barracks, a "kitchen" area with cooking smoke (though no fire had been lit yet), clean sanitary facilities, orderly warehouses, and piles of daily utensils... Although still simple, it already had the appearance of a vibrant settlement.
"This is more like a territory!" Lin Tian stood with his hands on his hips, looking at his "masterpiece," his heart filled with a sense of achievement. What he had left in his hands were mainly strategic reserves like stone, Refined Iron, and moon birch spirit wood.
Just as Lin Tian was busy with "infrastructure," the three hunting squads that had gone out also encountered battles one after another. Since Lin Tian was not accompanying them to Inspect intelligence, all three captains acted with extreme caution.
Lin Yan's squad (heading southwest): Using three Mystic Rock Spirit Guards as the spearhead, they advanced slowly in a triangular formation, with Rock Armor Soldiers and Iron-Armored Spearmen arrayed in an interlocked formation behind them, firmly protecting the Moon Shadow Archers in the center, like a moving steel fortress, crushing the shrubs along the way.
Lin Feng's squad (heading southeast): They leaned more toward an offensive formation, with Iron-Armored Spearmen in the front, Rock Armor Soldiers protecting the flanks, and Moon Shadow Archers at the rear, moving swiftly like a sharp arrow piercing into the jungle.
Lin Yin's squad (heading north): Utilizing the vision advantage of the Moon Shadow Archers, their formation was relatively loose but had a huge surveillance range, often able to spot the enemy first and snipe them from a distance.
Although their tactics were different, all three squads encountered far more dense monsters than the previous two days. Almost as soon as Lin Tian stepped into the newly built toilet to "Inspect" it, the notification sounds on the panel in front of him began to ring like a scrolling screen:
[Notification: Your unit killed Normal quality - black iron 4-star Bloodthirsty Rat × 1, gained experience...]
