73: Chapter 73 Teleportation in Progress
Lord Su Wan's words were like a magical soothing balm; the panic on the elves' faces gradually subsided. Although they were still a bit nervous, they were no longer restless. Everyone held their breath, their gazes focused on the teleportation array, whose light was growing increasingly brilliant and spinning faster and faster.
Just then, the light of the array suddenly surged!
The humming sound suddenly became high-pitched, as if the strings of space had been plucked forcefully. The milky white light screen surged violently, like boiling water, and the intense light at the center was blinding!
The next second, the light suddenly contracted inwards, and then erupted outwards!
Amidst the interplay of light and shadow, tall, heavy figures with a cold metallic sheen appeared, as if instantly "printed" from the void, densely packed and uniform, appearing in the open space at the center of the array!
Five hundred Heavy Armored Spearmen, formation complete!
There was not a whisper of noise, only a unified, heavy "Thud!"—the dull sound of five hundred pairs of iron boots hitting the ground simultaneously, shaking the earth slightly and causing the hearts of the surrounding elves to shudder.
The sunlight finally shone clearly upon this suddenly appeared army. What met Lord Su Wan and the elves' eyes was a heart-stopping forest of steel.
The soldiers were generally over 1.8 meters tall, with sturdy and robust physiques. They were not clad in rough iron plates, but in full-body plate armor that was forged in one piece, with smooth lines and a cold, silvery-gray luster!
The joints of the armor were intricately designed, and important areas like the chest and shoulder plates featured simple yet practical reinforced structures. Under the morning light, they reflected a matte finish, steady and restrained, without any flashiness, yet they exuded an unparalleled sense of sturdiness.
They wore full-coverage helmets with their visors lowered, revealing only pairs of eyes that glimmered with calmness and sharpness in the shadows.
Each person gripped a silver-white refined steel spear; the spear shafts were straight, the tips long, narrow, and sharp, with cold light flowing across them. The butt of the spears rested solidly on the ground.
Their backs were as straight as pines, and they were as silent as mountains. Merely standing there, an aura of slaughter, tempered by blood and fire and disciplined to the extreme, swept across the entire forest clearing like a tangible cold wave, shattering the originally natural and serene atmosphere.
"Form up!" a squad leader (Silver 1-Star) in the lead barked, the voice emanating through the visor with the texture of metal rubbing against metal.
"Swish! Clatter!!"
Without the slightest hesitation, the five hundred Heavy Armored Spearmen moved instantly as a single entity! Their movements were swift and precise, and the friction of their armor produced a unified, clanging sound—melodious yet filled with a sense of power.
Centered on the teleportation array, they quickly spread outwards, forming a perfect circular defensive formation!
The outermost row of soldiers crouched, their spears pointed diagonally outwards; the second row stood straight, their spears held horizontally; the inner circle of soldiers held their spears to guard the sky and the interior of the formation. The entire process was fluid, taking no more than ten seconds, and a seamless steel hedgehog formation was formed, firmly protecting the teleportation array in the center.
They stood in silence, with only the gazes beneath their visors vigilantly scanning their surroundings, and the cold armor rising and falling slightly with their breathing.
"Hiss..." A suppressed exclamation and intake of breath came from the elven group. Many young elves subconsciously took half a step back, gripping their wooden staves, as if they were not facing a human army, but a group of steel golems that had suddenly intruded into the secret realm.
Even Aelia and the older elves had expressions that became incomparably grave. The equipment, discipline, and the aura of having survived a hundred battles of this army far exceeded their imagination.
Lord Su Wan's pupils also contracted slightly, and her heart beat faster uncontrollably.
She knew that Lin Tian was not weak and that his trading volume was huge, but seeing such an elite and well-equipped army with her own eyes, the shock was still intense. This was a world of difference compared to the nimble but fragile elves within her territory, and the ragtag troops she imagined other lords might possess!
"Is this... his army?" Lord Su Wan was shocked inwardly, but on the surface, she maintained the composure of a lord, though her hands, which had been clasped together, quietly dropped to her sides and clenched slightly into fists.
Before she could step forward to ask where Lin Tian was, less than a minute had passed.
The teleportation array flashed with light again!
A second squad of five hundred Heavy Armored Spearmen appeared in formation amidst the light in the same manner!
"Expand the formation! Connect to the left flank!" the new commander growled.
"Hah!" The newly arrived soldiers did not hesitate in the slightest, quickly achieving Fusion with the first squad's formation, expanding the circular defensive array and making it even thicker.
Immediately following...
The third and fourth squads arrived one after another!
Every time the light flashed, it brought five hundred silent steel warriors.
Every time they formed up and achieved Fusion, that aura of slaughter and heaviness stacked and climbed!
In just a few short minutes, a full two thousand Heavy Armored Spearmen appeared in the center of the Moonlight Grove as if by magic, forming a terrifying ocean of steel!
They stood in silence, their spears pointing in all directions like a forest, their cold armor forming a gray-black wave, creating an extremely intense, almost eerie contrast with the surrounding vibrant, glowing elven forest.
The originally spacious forest clearing now seemed somewhat crowded.
Two thousand pairs of cold eyes scanned the unfamiliar environment and the elves who were clearly filled with fear through their visors.
Apart from the occasional friction of armor plates and heavy breathing, there was no other noise. This silent power was more oppressive than any roar.
The elves behind Lord Su Wan had completely fallen silent; many elves were pale, and if it weren't for their trust in Lord Su Wan and their understanding of the contract rules, they would likely have already panicked.
The army before them was powerful beyond their cognitive scope.
Lord Su Wan forcibly suppressed the raging waves in her heart, her gaze sweeping quickly over this suffocating army. With a thought, she quietly activated her lord skill, Detection Spell.
As her gaze fell, pieces of information feedback flooded into her mind, and the results caused her delicate body to tremble slightly; her emerald green eyes were once again filled with unbelievable astonishment.
