107: Chapter 107 Your grandpa is going to fight them to the death!

Platoon Leader Long Zhan finally understood why Qin Feng was willing to risk everything to come back, and why he had given such an outrageous reason.

Because he had actually pulled it off!

This twenty-year-old young man, this Cook whom he had once dismissed as someone with "connections," had done the impossible in just one night.

Not only had he single-handedly wiped out the enemy's forward command post, but in the desperate situation of being hunted by over a dozen drones, he had turned the tables to uncover the enemy's most critical secret!

This could no longer be described by the term "Soldier King."

This was the embodiment of a god of war!

"Chef..." Chen Mo leaned close to the walkie-talkie, his voice trembling slightly.

"Are... are you actually the chief scientist of some military research institute who descended to earth to experience life?"

"Pretty much," Qin Feng replied calmly.

"I'll come clean. Actually, my true identity is that I'm the top honor graduate of the Drone Welding and Repair major at Lanxiang Technical School."

Everyone: "..."

Platoon Leader Long Zhan took a deep breath, forcing down the shock in his heart. He knew now was not the time to dwell on this.

"Chef, you didn't come back just to tell us this, did you?"

"Of course not." Qin Feng's tone finally turned grave. "Platoon Leader, I have a plan."

"Instead of waiting here for rescue that might never come, why don't we... take the initiative and pull out their 'antenna'!"

"What?!" Platoon Leader Long Zhan cried out.

Take the initiative? Attack an electronic warfare base guarded by heavy troops? With just the few of them?

This idea was ten thousand times crazier than all of Qin Feng's previous actions combined!

"Are you crazy?!" Platoon Leader Long Zhan practically roared. "Isn't that just going to your death?!"

"Platoon Leader, let me finish first." Qin Feng's voice was filled with persuasion.

"Think about it, why are we on the defensive? Because we are blind and deaf."

"But once we wipe out their signal base, the situation will be reversed."

"At that point, we can directly contact our superiors and transmit the precise coordinates of this place and the intelligence on the 'red giant' project back to them."

"Do you think, after the higher-ups learn that there is a super iron mine here that could affect the future of the country, along with an electronic warfare base of Yang Country, what will they send?"

"What comes won't be some small-scale rescue team!"

"It will be a fighter jet formation from the Space Force! It will be electromagnetic suppression covering this area! It will be missiles blanketing the sky!"

"By then, all the enemies in Yangjiao Village will be like turtles in a jar for us! This game of chess will be brought to life!"

Every word of Qin Feng's was like a devil's whisper, filled with lethal temptation.

In the command post, everyone held their breath.

In their minds, they couldn't help but picture that earth-shattering scene.

Platoon Leader Long Zhan's heart was pounding violently.

Reason told him this was too risky, practically gambling with everyone's lives.

But in some corner of his heart, a flame had been completely ignited by Qin Feng's words!

Holding out for rescue was a dead end.

Trying to break out was also a desperate gamble with slim chances of survival.

But if... if Qin Feng's plan succeeded...

That would be an earth-shattering achievement!

"Platoon Leader, let's do it!"

Squad Leader Zhang Shan was the first to stand up, his eyes turning bloodshot from excitement and hatred.

"Our brothers from the Fierce Tiger Company cannot just die in vain! This vendetta must be avenged!"

"Platoon Leader, I agree!"

Chen Mo also stood up, slamming his sniper rifle onto the table, his eyes full of excited light.

"Follow the Chef, and we'll have meat to eat! What's there to be afraid of? At worst, eighteen years later, I'll be a hero again!"

"Let's do it!" Tie Zhu also roared.

Platoon Leader Long Zhan's gaze swept over everyone.

He knew he no longer had a way out.

The morale of these soldiers had been completely stirred up by this Chef named Qin Feng.

He slammed his fist onto the table, making the map jump.

"Damn it! Lunatics! You're all a bunch of lunatics!"

He grabbed the walkie-talkie, and into the microphone, he used all his strength to roar the words that made even his own blood boil.

"Chef! Get your ass back here!"

"Use your drone as my eyes!"

"Today, I'll accompany you bunch of lunatics to poke a hole in the sky!"

"Yes!"

Everyone was high-spirited, fully armed and ready to set off.

Half an hour later! "BOOM!!!" A rocket, trailing a long plume of fire, accurately hit a broken wall fortification. The violent explosion kicked up dust and smoke into the sky.

"Monkey!!" Chen Mo's eyes were splitting with rage; he had watched with his own eyes as the comrade who usually loved to goof around and always talked about opening a fruit stand after retirement was instantly engulfed by fire and the shockwave. He hadn't even had time to let out a scream.

"Suppressive fire! Don't let them lift their heads!" Platoon Leader Long Zhan's voice was hoarse. He held a PKM general-purpose machine gun, firing wildly to provide cover. Hot shell casings continuously ejected from the side of the gun, searing his arms and making a sizzling sound, but he was completely oblivious to it.

Half an hour ago, they had launched their breakout. With Qin Feng's "ghost one" leading the way and providing real-time reconnaissance, the Falcon Reconnaissance Squad, like reapers in the dark night, took advantage of the cover of night and thrust fiercely toward the weakest link in the enemy's encirclement.

The plan was perfect. Reality, however, slapped them hard in the face. They had underestimated how much the Bear Country valued this "red giant" mine, and they had overestimated the sharpness of their own "sharp knife."

Just as they were about to break through the first line of defense, a well-equipped special forces squad from the Bear Country suddenly emerged from a flank valley. Night vision goggles, thermal imaging, grenade launchers, individual rocket launchers... their equipment was leagues ahead of the ragtag troops of Yang Country. The battle instantly became white-hot.

"Stone! Get down!" Squad Leader Zhang Shan roared, lunging toward a brother from the Fierce Tiger Company who was changing his magazine. It was too late. A burst of precise gunfire came from the darkness, and the sturdy man named "Stone" shuddered violently as several blood sprays erupted from his chest, the light in his eyes rapidly dimming.

"No—!" Squad Leader Zhang Shan held his gradually cooling body, letting out a beast-like wail.

"Retreat! Everyone retreat back to the village! Now!" Platoon Leader Long Zhan's eyes were bloodshot. If they kept fighting, all of them would be done for today. The group fought while retreating. Nine people had come, but only seven returned. Monkey and Stone, two vibrant lives, were left forever on this cold Gobi Desert.

Dawn finally arrived. But the sunlight could not shine into the desperate land of Yangjiao Village. In the temporary fortification, the atmosphere was so oppressive it was hard to breathe. Everyone was silent; some were silently wiping their weapons, others were bandaging their wounds. The air was filled with a thick smell of blood and gunpowder.

Platoon Leader Long Zhan slammed his fist hard against the wall, causing brick dust to fall. "My fault," he said, his voice hoarse. "I was too presumptuous."

"Platoon Leader, this isn't your fault." Chen Mo lowered his head, his voice equally low. "If you want to blame someone, blame the enemy for being too cunning."

"What's the use of saying that now?" Squad Leader Zhang Shan leaned against the wall, staring blankly at the ceiling. "Monkey and Stone... they aren't coming back."

This one sentence made everyone's heart feel as if it had been pricked by a needle. Yes, they weren't coming back.

Qin Feng saw the Falcon Reconnaissance Squad fail to break out several times, his eyes bloodshot. He hadn't expected the Bear Country's reinforcements to arrive so quickly; both in numbers and equipment, the two sides were not on the same level. Moreover, judging by the noise earlier, those guys seemed to be special forces. It seemed the path to rendezvous with the Falcon Reconnaissance Squad was no longer viable.

"Now, what do we do?" Tie Zhu asked the question everyone had on their minds. The breakout had failed, and two fierce warriors had been lost. Morale had plummeted to the bottom. Everyone's gaze instinctively turned to Platoon Leader Long Zhan.

Platoon Leader Long Zhan exhaled a long, heavy breath. He looked at the map, then at the village outside the window, which was surrounded tightly, a look of desperate resolve flashing in his eyes.

"The plan has to change." He walked to the table, picked up a pen, and drew a straight line on the map connecting Yangjiao Village and the nameless highland. "We are splitting up."

"What?!" Everyone was shocked. They only had nine people in total; splitting up would only make their strength weaker.

"Let me finish." Platoon Leader Long Zhan picked up the walkie-talkie. "Chef." "Present." "The enemy's firepower is too strong. We can't break out. We will stay here to draw the enemy's attention for you." "This mission is for you alone!"

When these words were spoken, the command post fell into a deathly silence once again. Alone? To wipe out an electronic warfare base guarded by heavy troops? This wasn't just crazy; it was suicide!

"No!" Chen Mo was the first to object. "Platoon Leader, this is too risky! Sending him alone, what's the difference from sending him to his death?!" "Yeah, Platoon Leader, let's go together. Even if we die, we'll die together!" Tie Zhu also chimed in.

"Shut up, all of you!" Platoon Leader Long Zhan slammed the table, his voice stern and severe. "This is an order!"

Platoon Leader Long Zhan continued, holding the walkie-talkie. "Among us, only you have this ability." "And only you can sneak over there silently." "Us staying here is your greatest cover." "Every bit of hope you have for success increases our chances of survival." "This is our... only way."

Upon hearing this order, Qin Feng took a deep breath. He didn't speak, just started checking his equipment. An AN-94, eight magazines, six grenades. And that battered hero pot. Finally, he picked up the walkie-talkie. "Mission will be accomplished!"

No grand declarations, no tearful goodbyes. Just a single, simple, yet heavy promise.

"Pass on my order!" Platoon Leader Long Zhan turned around, his face regaining that fearless, reckless madness. "Get all our heavy machine guns and mortars ready!" "Tell those bastards on the other side!" "Your grandpa is going all out against them!"
