68: Chapter 68 Military Rank Activation! A Dog as a Gift, and a Cheat Code Included!

Zhao Hu was the first to speak.

He returned the approval letter to Qin Feng, his face serious.

"I'm definitely going to be a soldier. My family has been soldiers for three generations, and it can't end with me."

"It's just that I don't have your good luck, Brother Feng, to be specially recruited. I have to honestly follow the procedure and go to Qingteng University first."

"After all, in our old Zhang family, I'm the only college student. If I quit school and enlist directly, I'll be beaten to death."

Li Lang sighed and lay back down on his bed.

"As for me, I don't have big ambitions; I just want to drift through life."

"But with the current situation, I guess I won't be able to drift anymore."

"If I have to be a soldier, then so be it. It's just muddling through life wherever I am; everything happens by fate."

When it was Liu Wei's turn, he stammered for a long time before whispering:

"I... my parents called just now and told me... told me to study hard and absolutely not go to the front lines to risk my life. They said I'm the only one in the family..."

"They also said that after I graduate, they will find a way to transfer me to a civilian position."

There was a moment of silence in the dormitory.

Qin Feng looked at them and spoke slowly: "There are some things I need to remind you all about."

The three of them looked at him.

"Qingteng University has officially been placed under the jurisdiction of the Southern Military Region."

"Although it's not a military academy, given the current situation, semi-military management is a certainty. You all need to be mentally prepared for that."

"Furthermore, I estimate that it won't be long before the school undergoes earth-shaking changes, and the curriculum will definitely be focused on military and technology."

"Most of what you are studying now will be useless."

"And also..."

Qin Feng paused, seemingly organizing his thoughts.

"What I'm about to say might be a bit cruel, but this is reality."

"In times of war, the most important thing is resources."

"The resources I'm talking about are not just weapons and ammunition, but also food, medicine... everything."

His voice was calm, yet it made the temperature in the dormitory drop a few degrees.

"In the later stages, all supplies will be prioritized for the military. Currency will devalue, and might even become worthless paper."

"The state will issue ration coupons, distributing supplies according to labor or military merit."

"By then, if you want a full meal or to get good medicine for your family, you'll have to risk your life for it."

He looked at Liu Wei, his tone becoming serious.

"In the future, being a soldier is the only and fastest way out."

Qin Feng didn't mention his identity as a transmigrator, but these were all things he had experienced in his past life.

If the war on Blue Star developed to that point, there was no doubt it would be exactly as Qin Feng had described.

The three of them listened in stunned silence; they had never imagined that war could be so cruel.

That night, the four brothers talked a lot, heart-to-heart, until late into the night.

Before dawn, Qin Feng had already packed his simple luggage.

He didn't have many things; a single backpack was enough to hold them all.

Downstairs at the dormitory, Zhao Hu, Li Lang, and Liu Wei all came to see him off.

"Brother Feng, once you reach your new unit, work hard!"

Zhao Hu punched Qin Feng on the chest, his eyes slightly red.

"Brother Feng, in the future, when I go out to brag, I'll say my brother is a scout in the Seventh Company!"

Li Lang still had that devil-may-care look, but there was a bit more sincerity in his smile.

Liu Wei stood at the back, head bowed, not knowing what he was thinking.

Qin Feng walked up to him and patted his shoulder.

"The path is chosen by yourself. Once you've thought it through, don't have any regrets."

An off-road vehicle with military license plates was already waiting on the side of the road.

Qin Feng opened the car door and sat inside.

The car started and slowly drove away.

Zhao Hu and Li Lang waved their hands vigorously, shouting "See you at Qingteng University."

Looking at the three figures getting smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror, Qin Feng felt a deep sense of emotion.

The off-road vehicle drove smoothly on the concrete road, the scenery outside the window rapidly passing by.

Qin Feng leaned back in the rear seat, closing his eyes to rest.

The system's mechanical voice rang out in his mind without warning.

[Ding!]

[Host's file transfer detected successfully, Apocalypse Military Rank System officially activated!]

It's here!

The military rank has finally been activated!

Qin Feng perked up, his body subconsciously sitting straight.

[Apocalypse Military Rank System]

[Host: Qin Feng]

[Military Rank: Private (military merit: 0 / 1000)]

[military merit Points: 0]

[Activation reward being distributed...]

[Congratulations to the host for receiving the activation reward: Biological Military Dog (Ghost) x1!]

A Military Dog?

Qin Feng was stunned for a moment.

Immediately after, a stream of information flooded into his brain.

This was not an ordinary Military Dog, but a special biological weapon produced by the system.

Codename "Ghost," a breed of dog that had never appeared on Blue Star before.

It possessed a sense of smell, hearing, and night vision far exceeding that of ordinary dogs.

Its muscle density was three times that of a normal Military Dog, and its running speed was comparable to a cheetah.

The most monstrous thing was that its fur cells could adapt based on ambient light and color, performing small-scale mimetic camouflage, making it almost invisible to the naked eye in jungles and at night.

Moreover, there was a faint mental connection between it and the host, allowing for simple telepathic communication and the execution of complex commands.

How is this a dog?

This is clearly a walking, living reconnaissance machine!

Qin Feng's heart began to beat wildly, out of control.

[Congratulations to the host for receiving the supporting skill: Basic Military Dog Training!]

[Do you want to summon "Ghost" immediately?]

"No."

Qin Feng thought silently.

He was in a car right now; if he conjured a dog out of thin air, he would definitely scare the driver into driving into a ditch.

[Congratulations to the host, the Military Store is now open (Current Authority: Private)!]

A virtual shopping interface unfolded in Qin Feng's mind.

There weren't many items on the shelves, and most of them seemed very basic.

[High-Energy Compressed Biscuits: 5 military merit / block]

[Military-Grade Water Purification Tablets: 10 military merit / box]

[Multi-functional Climbing Gloves: 50 military merit / pair]

[Battlefield First Aid Kit (Basic): 100 military merit / unit]

...

The vast majority of the goods were auxiliary equipment and supplies.

And deeper in the interface, there were many gray, locked icons.

[King-level Combat Mastery Card] (Required Rank: Lieutenant Colonel)

[Exoskeleton Power Armor (Experimental)] (Required Rank: General)

[Electromagnetic Railgun Portable Version Blueprint] (Required Rank: General of the Army)

Qin Feng's eyelids twitched as he looked at them.

military merit!

In this system, military merit is everything!

As long as he had enough military merit and a high enough rank, he could even redeem black technology capable of changing the course of the war!

He forcibly suppressed the excitement in his heart and continued to check the final reward.

[Congratulations to the host for receiving the special reward: military red treasure book!]

red treasure book?

What is this?

With a thought from Qin Feng, a thick, virtual book with a dark red cover appeared in his consciousness space.

He tried to open the first page.

Boom!

An unimaginably massive torrent of information instantly rushed into his brain.

This wasn't a book; it was a super database encompassing all military, political, and geographical information of the entire Blue Star!
