4: Chapter 4? He's lying to ghosts! He's definitely on drugs!

At the finish line, Qin Feng's figure stood still.

His chest rose and fell with steady, powerful breaths; sweat slid down his chiseled jawline, dripping onto the scorching ground, evaporating instantly.

"Beep—"

A faint electronic sound rang in his mind, cold and mechanical, yet carrying a hint of triumphant joy.

[New Recruit Mission: Extreme Cross-Country, Complete.]

[Rating: Perfect.]

[Obtained military merit: 100 points.]

[Special Reward: Basic Combat Skills Mastery.]

A warm current instantly flooded his entire body.

Countless combat moves, force-application techniques, and combat awareness poured directly into his cerebral cortex like a data stream, perfectly merging with every muscle and nerve in his body.

He subconsciously clenched his fist, his knuckles emitting a crisp cracking sound.

This slightly immature body had already undergone a heaven-shaking, earth-shattering change.

This feeling of power was gradually returning.

"Holy crap! Is he... is he even human?"

"First place! This loser got first place, he must be cheating!"

Not far away, several new recruits, barely standing by propping themselves up on their knees, had eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

Although their discussion wasn't loud, it was like a pebble thrown into an already restless crowd.

"Cheating! He definitely cheated!"

A sharp voice suddenly rang out, instantly attracting everyone's gaze.

It was Zhang Hao, the sports specialist who had boasted at the starting line that he would take first place.

At this moment, his face was flushed, pointing at Qin Feng's nose; because of his excitement, his voice was somewhat distorted.

"Think about it! A loser who failed the college entrance exam twice, how could he possibly get first place? This doesn't make sense."

Zhang Hao's words struck a nerve in many people.

Jealousy was undisguised.

They were all the pride of heaven; as for this batch of new recruits, the scandal of Qin Feng failing the college entrance exam twice had long been flying everywhere.

They knew exactly what kind of person Qin Feng was.

"Exactly! I suspect he secretly took drugs! Otherwise, how could he not be tired at all!"

"Right! There must be a problem! Instructor, we demand a thorough investigation!"

"Must investigate! If you don't give us an explanation, we won't accept this!"

The crowd was indignant.

Voices of questioning, abuse, and heckling merged into a murky wave of sound, rushing toward Qin Feng.

Even the instructors responsible for timing at the finish line had complex expressions now.

They also couldn't understand.

Qin Feng's performance had already exceeded their cognitive scope of new recruit military training.

That composure, that ease, should not have appeared on a twenty-year-old young man.

Company Commander Zhou Hailong of the Third Company, a man with dark skin and sharp eyes, strode over.

He first glanced at the rowdy new recruits, his brows furrowed, and the authority in his eyes instantly quieted the noisy voices.

Then, his gaze fell on Qin Feng, sharp as if he wanted to see through him from the inside out.

"Qin Feng."

Company Commander Zhou Hailong's voice was low and powerful.

"Someone reported you for cheating. What do you have to say?"

Qin Feng raised his eyes, calmly meeting Company Commander Zhou Hailong's gaze, without a trace of panic on his face.

He didn't even change the curve of his mouth.

"Report, Company Commander, I did not cheat."

His voice wasn't loud, but it was exceptionally clear, carrying a calmness that made people have to believe him.

"No?"

Zhang Hao jumped out again; he was panting heavily, his face full of unwillingness.

"You say no, so it's no? Then explain, why did you finish the five-kilometer armed cross-country without blushing or panting? Do you think we are all fools?"

Qin Feng glanced at him, his gaze indifferent, as if looking at a clown.

"My physical fitness is good; do I need to explain that to you?"

"You!" Zhang Hao was choked until his face turned red.

"Enough!" Company Commander Zhou Hailong shouted in a low voice, stopping the farce.

His gaze locked onto Qin Feng again, his tone becoming serious.

"Empty words are no proof. Medical team, take him for a comprehensive physiological index test! Blood test, urine test, cardiopulmonary function, nothing can be missed!"

"Yes!"

Two medical soldiers immediately stepped forward.

"Wait." Qin Feng suddenly spoke.

Everyone's heart tightened, thinking he was going to be guilty and resist.

"Company Commander, I have no objection."

Qin Feng's gaze swept over Zhang Hao and those who echoed him, the corner of his mouth curling into a faint arc.

"But if the test results prove my innocence, I hope they can take responsibility for their words and actions."

"Publicly apologize to me."

His words were sonorous, carrying an unquestionable strength.

Zhang Hao's expression instantly became somewhat ugly.

Company Commander Zhou Hailong took a deep look at Qin Feng; this kid's eyes didn't look like a new recruit, but rather like an old veteran who had rolled on the battlefield several times.

That composure and confidence could not be faked.

He already believed it seven or eight points in his heart, but the procedure had to be followed.

"Okay."

Company Commander Zhou Hailong nodded.

"If there is no problem with the check, everyone who spread rumors and caused trouble must apologize to Qin Feng in front of the whole battalion! Furthermore, there will be a battalion-wide criticism, and the training volume will be doubled!"

Once this was said, the few people who had just been heckling immediately shrank their necks, their eyes beginning to dodge.

Qin Feng followed the medical soldiers toward the temporarily erected medical tent.

Everyone's gaze followed his back, and the atmosphere at the scene became subtle.

Some were gloating, waiting to see him ruined.

Some were anxious, fearing they would have to pay the price for their impulsiveness just now.

...

Inside the Military Region medical testing room, the atmosphere was a bit subtle.

The air was filled with a strange smell of disinfectant mixed with sweat.

Qin Feng sat quietly on the examination bed, his expression indifferent, as if everything in front of him had nothing to do with him.

His calmness formed a sharp contrast with the surrounding new recruits who almost had the words "gloating" carved on their faces.

"I told you, this kid definitely has a problem!"

Zhang Hao's voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just enough for everyone in the entire infirmary to hear clearly.

He crossed his arms over his chest, his chin slightly raised, his eyes full of triumph at the prospect of exposing the scam.

"Running that kind of result in a five-kilometer cross-country, are you kidding me? He must have taken drugs, injected stimulants beforehand!"

"Right, right, right, Brother Hao is right, who can run that fast as a normal person? Unless he isn't human."

A lackey next to him immediately echoed, his eyes looking at Qin Feng full of contempt.

"Just wait and see, when the urine test results come out in a while, let's see how he keeps up the act!"

"That's right, when the results come out, immediately cancel his qualifications for university, and then wait to go to the Military Court!"

A group of people gathered together, whispering, occasionally casting hostile glances.

They seemed to have already foreseen the wretched scene of Qin Feng being caught cheating and then being dragged out of the military camp by the instructors like a dead dog.

That feeling, just thinking about it made people feel refreshed.
