128: Chapter 128 Prisoners of War! Do you even have the right to negotiate with me?

At this moment.

Lanna's heart leaped into her throat.

She held her breath, not daring to even let out a soft sound.

Not long after, the roar of an engine approached from the distance.

Several blinding headlights pierced through the mist in the forest, shining in their direction.

It was a Yang Country patrol convoy!

Three military Humvees, arranged in a triangular formation, slowly drove along the forest path not far away.

The vehicles were filled with fully armed soldiers, who were puffing on cigarettes and laughing loudly, appearing extremely relaxed.

Qin Feng and Lanna were hiding behind a bush, no more than twenty meters from the path.

If they made even the slightest sound, or were caught by the headlights, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Lanna's palms were slick with nervous sweat, and she could even clearly smell the scent of cheap cigarettes wafting from the soldiers.

She instinctively looked at the Chef beside her.

The man lay on the ground, motionless, as if he had merged with the surrounding darkness.

But his eyes, gleaming like a wolf's in the night, calmly observed every detail of the convoy.

He wasn't just hiding; he was also… analyzing.

Lanna suddenly realized that for her, this was a deadly danger.

But for this man, it might… be an opportunity.

The convoy soon drove away, the engine noise gradually fading into the depths of the forest.

Not until the surroundings had completely returned to silence did Qin Feng stand up from the bushes.

"It seems our luck is good." He brushed the dust off his body, his tone relaxed.

Lanna, however, couldn't feel relaxed at all; her back was already soaked with cold sweat.

"That… that was a patrol from the Red Scorpion Special Forces." She said with lingering fear, "They are the ace unit of The Military of the Yang Country."

"Ace?" A sneer of disdain curled at the corner of Qin Feng's mouth, "Good equipment, but unfortunately, the people using it are trash."

He had just committed the patrol's equipment, personnel configuration, and alert status to memory.

However, Qin Feng now discovered a more important piece of information: Lanna seemed very afraid of this so-called Red Scorpion patrol.

It seemed his analysis was mostly correct.

Although Yang Country was a pawn for Bear Country, in the game between nations, interests come first.

From the moment of the highland airstrike, Lanna had been put on the death list.

Now, she was a dead person on the Bear Country military roster; they might even be holding a memorial service for her by now.

Of course, that wasn't the point. The point was that if a so-called "dead person" like her fell into the hands of The Military of Yang Country while carrying military secrets, her fate certainly wouldn't be good.

Especially since she was a beautiful blonde woman like her!

Seeing through it without saying it, Qin Feng was even more confident about obtaining that 100 military merit.

"However, they did bring us some good news."

Qin Feng's gaze turned toward the direction the convoy had disappeared.

"That road should lead to a nearby town; walking like this is just too slow."

He turned his head and looked at Lanna, his gaze making her feel inexplicably flustered.

"What… what do you mean?"

Qin Feng grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth that looked somewhat chilling in the moonlight.

"It means that since we're already here, we might as well go 'borrow' something from the Red Scorpion."

"For example, a vehicle."

"Are you crazy?!" Lanna exclaimed, "That's the Red Scorpion! You're just one person, and you want to go hijack a vehicle? How is that any different from walking right into a trap?!"

"That's why I need you." Qin Feng's smile became even more meaningful.

He already had a plan in mind.

"Second Lieutenant Lanna, your value isn't just as simple as leading the way."

Lanna's expression froze, and she asked with fear, "What do you mean?"

"You should know the Yang Country language, right?" Qin Feng's smile was harder to suppress than an AK.

"Yes. I've learned some; I can communicate normally."

Lanna swallowed hard, her heart pounding.

"From now on, you're going to play a new role."

"Bait!"

Bait?

Lanna's heart skipped a beat.

This bastard wanted her to be bait?!

"You… you want me to go to my death?"

If looks could kill, Qin Feng would have been sliced to pieces by Lanna by now.

"Correction."

Qin Feng held up a finger, his expression as serious as if he were conducting an academic discussion.

"It's not going to your death; it's letting you realize your greatest value and achieve self-actualization."

"A Humvee for transport—doesn't that sound good?"

"…"

Lanna's chest heaved violently; she swore that if her leg weren't injured, she would have pounced on him and bitten this bastard to death.

Was that even human language?

"I refuse!" She gritted her teeth and squeezed the words out from between them.

"Oh." Qin Feng nodded, as if he had expected her to say that.

He took out the half-eaten compressed biscuit from his backpack, broke off a small piece, and tossed it to her.

"Fine, you stay here, and we'll divide our supplies."

"This half-biscuit is yours; the rest—the water, weapons, medicine, and that precious chip of yours—are all mine."

"Let's part ways here. Good luck."

After saying that, he really turned around to leave without a hint of hesitation.

Watching his resolute back, Lanna completely panicked.

She knew that if this man said something, he would absolutely do it.

He would really leave her alone in this wilderness to fend for herself.

By then, let alone a Humvee, she wouldn't even see tomorrow's sun.

"Wait!" She blurted out.

Qin Feng stopped, turned back, and wore a gentle smile on his face, like a patient teacher.

"Changed your mind? Actually, I can help you, too."

Lanna stared fixedly at the Chef; her life was in his hands, and she had no way out.

"I… why should I trust you?" Her voice carried a hint of a sob, "They will kill me."

"They won't—at least not at first."

Qin Feng's gaze became sharp, filled with insight.

"You are a woman, a beautiful woman, and a beautiful woman wearing a Bear Country military uniform."

"To that pack of male wolves who have been pent up in the forest, you are more tempting than a chest of gold."

"They will capture you, tease you, but they won't kill you immediately."

"Because a living toy is more interesting than a dead one."

His words, like a cold knife, sliced open the cruelest reality, making Lanna shiver all over.

"As long as you are smart enough to attract their attention, that period of time will be my opportunity."

A curve of confidence that bordered on cruelty hooked at the corner of Qin Feng's mouth.

"So, whether you die or not depends entirely on your own acting skills."

Lanna felt a chill run through her entire body as she listened; she really couldn't believe that this Chef, who had saved her along the way, was actually this kind of person.

"Bastard! Devil!"

Qin Feng didn't care; he just tucked the long hair behind her ear and then patted her little cheek.

"You are going to help me create an opportunity, understand, my… female prisoner of war?"

Lanna closed her eyes and resigned herself to her fate.
