124: Chapter 124 The Art of Explosions: It's All About the Thrill!

Lanna sat up abruptly as if electrocuted, coughing violently, frantically wiping water from her face with her hands while gazing around in terror.

It was pitch black all around; she had no idea where her flashlight had rolled off to.

In the darkness, she couldn't see anyone, but her nose caught a whiff of… a familiar scent of saliva, with a hint of compressed biscuits.

She would never forget this smell in her entire life!

"Chef?!"

Lanna blurted out in perfect Bear Country language.

"Yeah. It's me."

Qin Feng replied from the darkness, his voice devoid of emotion.

Lanna stiffened, completely stunned.

Her bright blue eyes widened in the dark, filled with disbelief.

"You… you understand Bear Country language?!"

Qin Feng's voice held a hint of awkwardness as he retorted righteously: "You didn't ask."

"…"

Lanna was choked with words, her chest heaving as she almost fainted from anger again.

She finally understood that she had been deceived by him from the very beginning.

No! It should be said that he had seen right through her from the start!

Qin Feng didn't have time to bicker about this; he just crouched down with a serious look in his eyes.

"That door, the metal door at the end of the pipe, what's behind it?"

Lanna's eyes darted away instantly, and she subconsciously tried to hide it: "I… I don't know, I'm just an engineer…"

"You'd better think carefully before you speak." Qin Feng's voice suddenly turned cold.

"My patience is limited, and besides, I think I just heard some movement behind that door."

These words were the final straw.

Lanna's face turned deathly pale in an instant. No longer able to hide anything, she spilled everything with a tearful voice, pouring out the truth like beans from a bamboo tube.

Sure enough, it was almost exactly what Qin Feng had guessed.

Behind that door was the final safeguard codenamed "Scavenger."

Once someone forced their way in, a thirty-minute countdown would begin, sufficient to completely vaporize this underground area.

That was close!

Qin Feng gasped!

Fortunately, he didn't have a fidgeting problem, otherwise he really would have been buried here.

If he had to keep staying with this big guy, Qin Feng really wasn't sure if this thing would explode.

It was more practical to escape sooner.

Qin Feng glanced at the system time; fifty hours had passed since he fell down here.

The longer it dragged on, the greater the variables.

"We must leave immediately!" Qin Feng stood up.

Only then did Lanna notice that her backpack, which contained all her belongings, was hanging securely on Qin Feng's back.

At the same time, she happily discovered that the steel bar in her leg was gone.

She moved slightly, but her right lower leg still had no feeling; the anesthesia probably hadn't worn off yet.

However, the medicinal gauze on her leg indicated that the wound had been carefully treated.

Most importantly, it seemed her fever had gone down.

Did Chef do all this?

He actually had medical tools?

Lanna's heart skipped a beat, her eyes filled with disbelief, but then a glimmer of hope arose.

The black box in the backpack was hidden in the interlayer, so well-concealed; he shouldn't have… discovered it, right?

As long as the chip was still there, she still had bargaining power with this Chef and hope for survival!

Qin Feng naturally knew what this woman was thinking, but he couldn't be bothered to call her out.

"If you want to live, tell me everything you know about the structural diagrams of this place, in detail."

He said in an unquestionable tone.

"Especially how to get out of here without alerting that 'Scavenger'."

In order to survive, Lanna didn't dare to hide anything.

Enduring the sharp pain in her leg, she described the entire structure of the underground pipes in detail, especially the pre-reserved weak points.

"The place you just blasted is actually the safest place."

"Although I don't know how you discovered it, as long as you continue with precise blasting, you can completely blow open a gap downwards."

"Below is an artificial underground river; we can get out by following the river."

Lanna's tone became extremely solemn when she said this.

"But I must warn you! You must control the amount of explosives! Absolutely! Absolutely do not overdose!"

"Otherwise, once the shockwave from the explosion is captured by the 'Scavenger's' sensors, it will immediately trigger a chain reaction, and the consequences… you understand!"

After hearing this, Qin Feng couldn't help but swallow hard.

He glanced at the two remaining blocks of C4 in his backpack.

This job… the technical requirement was a bit high.

This was no longer simple demolition; this was fucking heart bypass surgery using explosives!

The time had come to test the true strength of this "Demolition Artist."

The air seemed to have frozen.

In the silent pipe, only Lanna's heavy breathing and his own drum-like heartbeat remained.

She had never trusted her life to someone else so completely as she did now.

And this man was still an enemy!

Qin Feng didn't speak; he just crouched quietly on the ground, like a soulless statue.

His brain was operating at an unprecedented speed at this moment.

The verbal map provided by Lanna was rapidly constructed into a precise 3D model in his mind.

Borehole size, support structure, rock density… all the data was being calculated, combined, and simulated at lightning speed.

"Not precise enough."

After a while, Qin Feng spat out three words.

Lanna was stunned. "What?"

"What you said is not precise enough." Qin Feng looked up; in the darkness, his eyes were frighteningly bright.

"I need to know the concrete grade, the layout of the steel bars, and the bonding strength between it and the surrounding rock."

Lanna was completely dumbfounded.

"Are… are you crazy? How could I possibly know these things! I don't have the blueprints!"

"You are the chief engineer."

Qin Feng's tone was as flat as if he were talking about the nice weather today.

"These data should be engraved in your mind."

"I…" Lanna was left speechless.

She was indeed an engineer, but she wasn't a god!

Who could memorize such vast and complex architectural data, down to the last screw, in their head?

This man was simply a devil!

"Don't be nervous."

Qin Feng seemed to see through her embarrassment, the corners of his mouth curling into an imperceptible arc.

"I'll help you remember."

He extended a finger, dipped it in some dust on the ground, and began to draw rapidly on the floor of the pipe.

And in his other hand, a flashlight appeared.

Under the light, Lanna was surprised.

Chef was so young!

His movements were fluid, his lines incredibly precise; in just a few dozen seconds, an extremely complex cross-sectional engineering diagram appeared before Lanna.

"This is the design diagram for the base's standard load-bearing structure, right?"

Qin Feng pointed to a node in the diagram.

"According to Bear Country military standards, the concrete wall thickness of A-grade protective engineering pipes is usually between 1.2 meters and 1.5 meters, using C60 high-strength explosion-proof concrete, with built-in double-layer, two-way threaded steel mesh, with a diameter of no less than 25 millimeters and a spacing of 150 millimeters."

Lanna stared at the map dumbfounded, then looked at Qin Feng, feeling her worldview being overturned.

This man… how could he know so clearly?

This was no longer in the realm of "understanding"; this was practically more professional than her, the chief engineer who had personally designed part of the structure!

"Judging by your expression, I guessed right." Qin Feng didn't give her time to be shocked.

"Now, tell me, if we continue with directional blasting, which plan is the safest?"

Under Qin Feng's powerful professional pressure, Lanna's brain seemed to have been forcibly rebooted.

She stared fixedly at the drawing on the ground, and the details about the blueprints that had been forgotten in the depths of her memory were awakened bit by bit.

"It's… it's Plan B."

Her voice was a bit dry.

"To save costs, the wall thickness of that section is only 1.2 meters, and… and it uses a single-layer steel mesh."

"Very good."

Qin Feng nodded with satisfaction and tapped the drawing lightly.

"That makes it much simpler."

He carefully took out the two blocks of yellow C4 explosives from the backpack.

Looking at those two "bars of soap," Lanna's heart jumped into her throat instantly.

"You… how much do you plan to use?" she asked nervously.

Qin Feng picked up one of them and, using a dagger, precisely cut off a small strip, about the size of a thumb, as if cutting butter.

Then, he stuffed the remaining large piece back into the backpack.

"This much is enough."

Lanna's eyes were about to pop out.

"Are you sure?! Such a small amount won't blow it open!"

"Shut up, leave professional matters to the professionals. Please, go to sleep for a while."

Qin Feng pinched her neck and pressed down, and Lanna passed out.

Then, he summoned his precious bionic spider again.

"Little spider, get to work, be more precise this time."

Sharp micro-cutting blades popped out from the ends of the bionic spider's limbs again.

It cut out blasting patterns along the metal pipe inside the borehole.

"Zzzzz—"

A slight but piercing cutting sound rang out again.

Afterwards, he used his hands to mold the strip of C4 into a thinner, noodle-like strand and carefully buried it in the pattern.

This demolition preparation was done even more meticulously than the last time, aiming to ensure it was foolproof.

Once there was an operational error… there would be no future!

Time ticked away, minute by minute.

About half an hour passed.

"Done."

Qin Feng patted the dust off his hands and nodded with satisfaction as he looked at his masterpiece.

Afterwards, he returned to Lanna's side and roughly shook her awake.

"Curly hair, get up! Do you still want to get out or not?"

With a whimper, Lanna woke up again; seeing Chef shining the flashlight on her face, she was scared out of her wits.

"What the hell are you afraid of!"

Qin Feng retorted and turned off the flashlight.

"I'm done, ready to blast, get yourself ready."

"That's… it?" Lanna couldn't believe it.

"Yeah." Qin Feng nodded, then looked at her with the expression one gives an idiot.

"What else? You want me to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for you?"

He glanced at Lanna's still-bleeding leg and uncharacteristically showed some kindness.

"Find a place to hide, cover your ears, and it's best to open your mouth."

"Why?"

"To prevent your internal organs from being shattered by the shockwave."

Qin Feng's tone was as flat as if he were discussing what to eat for lunch.

Lanna's face turned even paler than the bandage on her leg in an instant.

She scrambled to hide in the corner of the pipe, covered her ears with all her might, and opened her mouth wide, looking like a toad waiting to be slaughtered.

Qin Feng looked at her comical appearance and shook his head.

He didn't detonate it immediately; instead, he ordered the bionic spider again to stick a miniature acoustic probe onto the metal door of the "Scavenger."

He needed to monitor the big guy's reaction in real-time.

After doing all this, he took out the simple detonator.

He took a deep breath.

And pressed it.
