185: Chapter 185 Is His Name the Cook? This Man is a Mystery

Early morning, the cold was biting.

Qin Feng was awakened by a sneeze.

"Achooβ€”!"

He opened his eyes abruptly, an inexplicable chill running up his spine and straight to the back of his head.

In his dream, he always felt like something bad had happened, but he had no proof.

In his arms, there was warmth and softness.

Lanna was wrapped around him like an octopus, using both her hands and feet, sleeping soundly.

This Russian Girl had a high body temperature; being held by her like that last night was like hugging a large hot water bottle, so he wasn't cold at all.

Qin Feng carefully moved her arms and legs off himself and sat up.

Not far away, Yaro was already awake, leaning against a rock, her sharp eyes staring at him without blinking in the faint morning light.

That gaze was complex.

Gone was the anger and shame from last night, and gone was the despair after failure.

It was a kind of near-cold scrutiny, devoid of any personal emotion.

Qin Feng's heart skipped a beat.

He knew that for this wild horse, last night's blow had only made her temporarily retract her fangs.

Her bones were harder than the rock he had kicked to pieces.

After a simple wash, he took out some of the remaining dried meat and goat milk from last night.

He handed one portion to the sleepy-eyed Lanna and threw the other to Yaro.

Lanna took the dried meat, eating it in small bites while glancing at Yaro with the eyes of a victor.

The smugness in those eyes was almost overflowing.

"See? This man is mine. You, the defeated, can only eat the food he throws at you."

Yaro caught the dried meat expressionlessly, not even glancing at Lanna, and silently tore into it to replenish her strength.

She had lost twice, but the game was not over yet.

As long as she was still alive, as long as she could still breathe, she had a chance to turn the tables.

After breakfast, the three of them set off again.

Qin Feng still walked in the lead, leading the Akhal-Teke Horse.

Lanna followed closely by his side, like a mistress declaring sovereignty.

Yaro had her wrist tied with a long rope, the other end fastened to the Akhal-Teke Horse's saddle, following behind at a distance that was neither too far nor too close.

This distance was very particular.

It could prevent her from suddenly attacking, while also keeping her within his line of sight.

Yaro walked with her head down, silent, but her mind was racing.

She reviewed the two failures from last night.

The first time, close-quarters combat.

Her Killing Techniques, which she took pride in, were like the punches and kicks of a three-year-old child in front of him.

The opponent's strength, speed, and reaction were completely overwhelming.

Going head-to-head was suicide.

The second time, an escape attempt using wits.

She had used her superb horsemanship to successfully mount that divine steed.

But in the end, the opponent only needed one look to make the Akhal-Teke Horse prostrate itself on the ground.

That kind of pressure originating from the bloodline exceeded the scope of her understanding.

This was simply not something that could be compensated for by technique.

Strength and strange abilities were both ineffective.

This Dragon Country man was like an iron bucket without a seam, impeccable.

No, that wasn't right.

There were no perfect people in the world, and naturally, no enemies without flaws.

Flaws must exist; she just hadn't discovered them yet.

Her gaze slowly shifted from Qin Feng's back to the Bear Country woman beside him.

Lanna.

This woman had been chattering all the way, and her attitude toward the Dragon Country man was intimate and natural.

And although this Dragon Country man didn't say anything, his actions showed he took good care of her.

Last night, they slept in each other's arms.

These two had a close relationship.

A flash of brilliance crossed Yaro's eyes.

Perhaps this woman was his greatest flaw.

"Chef, how much longer do we have to walk? My leg injury hasn't healed yet."

Lanna's complaint interrupted Yaro's train of thought.

Chef?

Yaro's eyebrows raised slightly.

Is this... a code name? Or a nickname?

This form of address carried an indescribable sense of dissonance.

"I already told you, once we cross that mountain." Qin Feng's voice was flat, revealing no emotion.

"Hmph, you say that every time." Lanna grumbled dissatisfiedly, but still obediently followed.

Yaro firmly etched this form of address into her mind.

She began to adjust her position unobtrusively, slowly moving closer to Lanna.

During the lunch break, Qin Feng went to look for a water source and edible plants.

Only Lanna and Yaro were left in the camp.

Lanna looked at Yaro vigilantly, arms crossed, with an expression that said "Don't even think about playing any tricks."

Yaro, however, acted as if she didn't see the hostility, just sitting quietly in place, wiping her military boots.

They were a pair of very old boots, the leather worn beyond recognition, yet she had wiped them spotless.

"Your boots look like they've been with you for a long time."

Yaro suddenly spoke.

Lanna was stunned, clearly not expecting her to initiate a conversation, and in such a way.

"None of your business." She snorted coldly and turned her head away.

"In The Military, equipment is a soldier's second life." Yaro continued, speaking to herself.

"This pair of boots has accompanied me through the deserts of the Atlas Mountains and stepped through the rainforests of the Western Continent. It is more important than my life."

There was a hint of faint nostalgia and pride in her tone.

Lanna's expression softened slightly.

Although she was an engineer, she had received military training and understood what Yaro meant.

That cherishing of equipment was a common sentiment among all soldiers.

"Your Bear Country language is so good?" Lanna couldn't help but ask.

"I once underwent special training in Bear Country for two years."

Every word of Yaro's was resonant and forceful.

Lanna's pupils constricted sharply.

"No wonder!"

"What about you?" Yaro raised her head, her gaze fixed on Lanna.

"What is the deal between you and this Chef... Chef?"

"Nothing... nothing at all. I came here for tourism, just happened to meet him."

Lanna told a clumsy lie, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"I see." Yaro nodded.

In any case, she didn't believe a single punctuation mark of that, but she could be sure that this Russian Girl posed no threat.

"You should stay away from the Chef; he's not a good person." Lanna seemed to be concerned, but was actually playing a small trick.

"Yes, he is indeed not a good person." Yaro's reply was calm.

"You like him, don't you?"

Lanna was choked speechless, her face turning bright red.

Because what Yaro said was the truth.

Watching Lanna being hit in the heart by her words, the corners of Yaro's mouth curled into an imperceptible arc.

Very good, the fish is beginning to take the bait.

What she needed to do was to get more information about the Chef from this woman.

"Who exactly is that Chef?"

After a long silence, Yaro finally couldn't hold it back and asked the question that had been puzzling her.

Lanna sighed, but a hint of well-placed gravity appeared on her face.

"I don't know. Meeting him was just a coincidence."

"I only know that he is very strong, so strong that he doesn't seem human."

Yaro was stunned.

"You've been by his side, do you really not know anything about him at all?"

This question was like a needle, precisely piercing into Lanna's heart.

That's right, it seemed she had never really understood this man.

Apart from knowing that he was called Chef, that his cooking was very good, and that his fighting skills were terrifying, she knew nothing else about him.

His past, his background, what he was going to do... everything was a mystery.

Watching Lanna fall into deep thought, Yaro knew that her first step had already succeeded.
