163: Chapter 163 Tonight's fireworks, you alone are beautiful!

The night wind of the grassland, carrying the scent of green grass, brushed against Lanna's cheeks.

She sat on the hillside, hugging her knees, suddenly feeling a bit afraid.

Beside her, that magnificent Akhal-Teke Horse, "Chiyan," pawed the ground uneasily with its front hooves, snorting from time to time.

Half an hour had already passed.

Lanna's heart hung in suspense along with it.

What on earth did he go to do?

Set off fireworks? Where would there be fireworks on this grassland?

Lanna's mind was a tangled mess, with all sorts of strange and bizarre guesses emerging one after another.

She even started to let her imagination run wild, wondering if that guy had found some amusement and forgotten about her.

Just then, a sharp whistle pierced the tranquility of the town.

Immediately after, chaotic footsteps and shouts surged out from the town like a tide.

Squads of patrol guards began to weave through the streets, conducting searches house by house.

Lanna's heart leapt into her throat.

Something happened!

He must have been discovered!

This madman! This arrogant fool! Who does he think he is?

Does he really think the military camp of Yang Country is his own backyard, where he can come and go as he pleases?

Lanna paced back and forth in anxiety, constantly looking toward the direction of the town.

Every time the whistle blew, her heart tightened a little more.

"Scumbag, you must not get into any trouble..."

She murmured unconsciously, her voice filled with a hint of anxiety.

Time had never been so agonizing.

Nearly another hour passed.

The chaos in the town not only failed to subside but instead intensified.

"Da da da—!"

Crisp and rapid gunfire rang out without warning.

Lanna's body stiffened abruptly, the color draining completely from her face.

They opened fire!

Things have reached the worst possible point!

An image uncontrollably surfaced in her mind.

The Chef was surrounded by dozens of soldiers in a narrow alley, covered in blood, fighting like a lone wolf until the very last bullet was spent...

No!

Lanna shook her head vigorously, not daring to think any further.

The Chef is so powerful, so cunning, like an unkillable monster; how could he possibly be caught?

However, the gunfire grew increasingly dense, even mixed with the dull roar of heavy machine guns.

The entire town seemed to have turned into a meat grinder; anyone caught inside would be crushed to pieces.

Lanna's breathing became rapid, and an unprecedented fear took hold.

She was afraid.

Not afraid of being caught, nor afraid of death.

She was afraid... that she would never see that man again.

"Boom—!"

Just then, a dull explosion came from the east side of the town.

Immediately following were the second and third...

A series of explosions, like rolling thunder, came from afar and converged into a force capable of destroying the heavens and the earth!

"Rumble—!"

A deafening roar seemed to tear the entire sky apart!

The ground beneath Lanna's feet trembled violently.

She instinctively looked up and was completely stunned.

On the east side of the town, a massive and brilliant mushroom cloud was slowly rising.

The scorching firelight dyed half the night sky orange-red, as bright as day.

The brilliant light reflected in Lanna's emerald eyes, making her instantly understand something.

Fireworks...

This was what he meant by the fireworks he was going to set off for her.

This madman!

He actually... really did it!

After the shock came an even deeper fear.

Having caused such a huge commotion, how could he possibly survive?

In an instant, all the strength in her heart crumbled.

Lanna's legs went weak, and she collapsed onto the ground. Tears, no longer containable, fell like broken strings of pearls.

She didn't know when it started, but her heart had already been filled by that man from the Dragon Country.

She had become accustomed to his embrace, his scent, bickering with him, and even more so... the sense of security that made her feel unafraid even if the sky were falling when he was by her side.

But now, the sky seemed to have truly fallen.

"Bastard... liar..."

Lanna pounded the ground with her fists, her voice hoarse, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Didn't you say... you would chase me to the ends of the earth?"

"Didn't you say... you would punish me severely?"

"You come back here!"

She cried out hoarsely toward the direction of the towering flames.

After crying for a long time, she wiped away her tears, a flash of determination in her eyes.

Lanna stood up abruptly and mounted Chiyan.

"If you don't come back, I'll go find you!"

However, just as she was about to set off.

A sound of hoofbeats came from afar and drew near.

Lanna quickly stopped and peered intently.

She saw a black silhouette galloping over on the distant horizon, set against the backdrop of the towering flames.

The night wind lifted his hem, and the steed beneath him galloped with all four hooves flying, like a demon god stepping on flames.

It's him!

It's the Chef!

He's back!

In that moment, Lanna felt her heart about to jump out of her chest.

The sound of hoofbeats drew closer, and that familiar face became clearer.

"Yo, my private property, have you been crying?"

Qin Feng reined in his horse and grinned at the tearful Lanna.

"Are you satisfied with these fireworks? If not, I'll get you a bigger and brighter one next time."

"You bastard!"

Lanna rushed in front of him, but not knowing what to say, she raised her horsewhip and struck him symbolically.

"Smack!"

A crisp sound rang out, exceptionally clear on the vast grassland.

Qin Feng didn't get angry; he just sat on the horse, rubbed his nose, and chuckled.

"Didn't you say you were going to run for your life?"

"You... you're still being cheeky!"

Looking at his cheeky expression, Lanna was both angry and amused, but her tears flowed even more fiercely.

Having blown up the supply station, Qin Feng was in a great mood. He leaped off the horse, grabbed Lanna, and tossed her onto Chiyan.

"Haha! My private property, come with me."

Lanna shrieked in fright.

The next second, Qin Feng vaulted onto the horse, held Lanna in his arms, and pulled the reins.

Chiyan, like lightning in the dark night, galloped away.

That familiar embrace, that familiar scent, and that familiar, annoying tone.

Lanna's body stiffened, and her struggling movements ceased.

She buried her face in Qin Feng's chest, greedily breathing in his scent.

Her hanging heart finally settled back into place.

"Such a huge explosion... how did you do it..."

"This mountain man has his own clever tricks." Qin Feng raised his eyebrows triumphantly.

Of course, he wouldn't tell Lanna that he had snuck into the underground warehouse, started making explosives, and completely detonated the supply station.

In the end, he had quietly slipped away through the warehouse's ventilation ducts, undetected by anyone.

The whole process seemed incredibly easy, but every step was filled with deadly danger; the slightest carelessness would have resulted in being crushed to pieces.

But he wouldn't tell Lanna any of this.

Just then, the cold yet pleasant notification sound of the system rang in his mind.
